  1. Quote: line up in 05/06 Where's your FA spending? The Hawks HAVE to spend another 14 million this year. It's the rules!! Look for Dally or Swift to come our way.
  2. Duh.... We've gotten rid of all the bad contracts. Now we can sign FAs! The NBA rules state we MUST SPEND 14 MILLION DOLLARS. WHY CAN (almost) NO ONE ON THIS BOARD UNDERSTAND THAT!!
  3. It's not listed as a player option on hoopshype, because maybe he already exercised it. There's no way he'd opt out. So, he's not a FA - I'll stick to my assessment. http://hoopshype.com/salaries/atlanta.htm Remember - we HAVE to spend $14mil on free agents!!!!
  4. Quote: and (b) that he's a FA anyway. Delk is not a FA this year.
  5. Quote: B) Billy Knight shocks the world - we nab a point guard with the #2. Don't be surprised. There is only one thing we know for certain about anything that BK has said: he certainly hasn't said anything. Well this is certainly very possible and it's what no one is talking about. I think it depends if BK thinks that either Paul or Deron is superstar material. If he does, than he's take that player over MWill.
  6. I just don't believe that Charlotte will give up 5 and 13. THey have fewer bodies than we do!!!
  7. C'Mon lamebrains. The HAWKS DIDN'T WORK OUT FELTON! do the math.
  8. If you believe that the presence of Diaw and Donta on our roster should, in part, dictate who we draft, then you are quite daft. Yup, don't take the best player on the board, because we already have Donta and Diaw. Nutz. Look - if Smoove and MWill could each only play one and the same position, then there's an argument not to pick MWill. But SMoove and Mwill can, in the long run, be our 4 and 3, and so the only reason not to draft MWill is Al, who is in the last year of his contract. Just because we need other stuff is not a good enough reason. Rebuilding is a mult-year project, we aren't going to contend next year, so don't expect ALL the pieces this year. That's the flaw in your logic. We HAVE to spend about $14 mill on FAs this year. We can lay out the big bucks for Dally now. Then we have a future core of Chills, Smoove, Mwill, Dally. They are all great atheletes, They can learn to play together and be a great core for the future. At that point, we'll have no trouble finding a PG, as free agent PGs will kill to play with those 4. But that's a year away and you guys need some patience.
  9. Let's Break it Down - Please. Diesel, the guy who for three straight years posted a new trade proposal to bring Mash here each and everyday is now dissing the player who's skills probably most compare to Mash's. GO FIGURE!
  10. Let's look at we have to spend. The Hawks will have 7 players under contract for about $20 mil. Add in the number 2 pic at about $4 mil and you've got $24 mill commited, and with the new roster of 14 players you've got 6 roster spots open! Now there's no way the Hawks are going up to the new $51mil cap cuz they're going to build this team slowly and right now they aren't selling enough tickets. But the rules state the team HAS to spend 75% of the cap so that means the Hawks have to get close to 38 mil for their payroll which means they HAVE to drop another $14 mil to fill up those 6 roster spots. So the first question is what inexpensive players get brought back from last year - Ivey, Donta, Obinna? What about Lue? He'll cost a little more. I'd keep Donta - Ivey and Lue are conditional unless we can get better in FA - replace Obinna with RandolphMorris from pic 31. Stash the late second rounder, in the NBDL. It seems to me they make one splash in the free agent market, which will be either Stomile or Dally. I prefer Dally, but Phila will match anything reasonable. Philly is committed to $78 mil next year before they sign Dally. If we offer enough, then he's ours. Is it worth overpaying for Dally? How does a Smoove, Dally, MWilliams front court in place for the long-term sound to you guys? I think that's the route to go, and then within a year high-price quality PGs will want to play in the ATL! Yo BK - Show Dally the money. my 14 man roster this year. MWill Smoove JChill AL Dally Drobs Collier (we're stuck with him for 1 more year) Delk Lue RandolphMorris (pic31) Diaw Donta Ivey add 1 more FA.
  11. Quote: Marvin and Josh together on the same team is going to be downright scary for the opponents!! Exactly - no team will be able to guard them both.
  12. I want the guy. Quote: Like the time before his senior year in high school, when Marvin and the rest of Seattle Rotary Select went to the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament. In the semifinals, they trailed the Atlanta Celtics — whose lineup included future NBA players Dwight Howard and Josh Smith and Kentucky's Randolph Morris — by 23 points at halftime. "Somebody needs to show me something," Sedlik barked. "We know they're good, but this is unacceptable." The shy, 6-foot-9 forward from Bremerton quietly raised his hand. "I'm ready, coach," he said. Marvin tallied 35 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Rotary lost, but not before cutting the lead to six points. And there was Marvin with 20 seconds left, hounding the Celtics' point guard until referees whistled him for reaching in. Sedlik took him out. The packed gym showered Marvin with a standing ovation. Sedlik says it gave him shivers. link
  13. You guys seem to forget that last year Smoove was riding pine and they finally realized he needed more minuted and they got them to him by playing AL, Smoove and Antoine at the same time. That will happen again to some extent whether we have a true C or not. There are 96 minutes of forward time available, which means AL, Smoove and MW can play 33 minutes each without a problem and add a nother 12 minutes in the 3 forward set and you can get 2 of those guys (smoove and al) to 39 minutes per game. The posters claim that Childess has to be traded because he's another 'tweener' is laughable. First off, MW is not a true tweener. A tweener is between guard and forward, that is they are between a 2 and a 3. MW is between a 3 and a 4. Chillz was a 3 in college, but he's definitely a 2 in the NBA. The forwards of the future on this team are SMoove and MW and the potential of these two are awesome!
  14. It loosk like the Lakers will get the Portland pick. THey will then take either Paul or Green. If they take Green, then Paul or Deron will be available at #5. BK should just take MWilliams and then tell Charlotte that we'll talk when we see what's available at #5. If Portlands swaps picks with the Lakers, it looks like they'll use #10 to take Bynum, which is too bad that he'd be gone at #13.
  15. Quote: We hardly ever hear anything out of coach Woodsen on his opinions and what type of team he would like to build. Coaches don't build teams, GMs do. Now, why do you say BK is an egomaniac? Pleae present some evidence. Yes, he seems to have a plan that he believes in. What an improvement that is from the Babs era!
  16. from CNN SI Quote: Word around the league is that the Hawks found Chris Paul to be more impressive than Deron Williams during their recent workouts. There are also new whispers that Atlanta may be having second thoughts about picking Marvin Williams at No. 2 after he told the Hawks that he has never seen an NBA playoff game, which created questions about Williams' passion and commitment. But don't put too much stock in that: The Hawks told Marvin Williams that he shouldn't bother working out for Portland, a strong sign that they still intend to pick him. ... Quote: The Blazers are searching everywhere for the best deal. They asked Atlanta about giving up the No. 2 pick in exchange for Darius Miles and the No. 3, but the Hawks had no interest. link
  17. "an extremely low Basketball IQ" We're talking about a kid with academic problem in high school. Ya need at least some smarts for this game. That atheleticism in a 7 footer is intriguing though.
  18. Quote: Gotta find a way to get Andrew Bynum or Randolph Morris(Only if all other top Centers are gone) That's the truth. It's too bad we didn't end up with the Laker's/Celt pick this year. I'd prefer Bynum of the two, but I bet he's gone by #20.
  19. Bogut's a Croat. They're tough mofos.
  20. If I'm BK, I take Paul or Deron at #2, and then try to get a pick in the 20somethings and take Andrew Bynum. (assuming he doesnt' pull out next week.)
  21. Why give him guaranteed money if we don't have to? Are the teams he's turning down late first rounders? Why have we scheduled a Friday workout for Dwayne Jones?
  22. Inside_Man

    Oops!

Ivey picked up lots of fouls. That was the weakest part of his game, imho. If we're talking just rookie mistakes, then he still might turn out to be pretty good.
  23. He's still too short to play BillyK Ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Quote: I don't know any black guys that don't respect what Dirk,Ginobli,AK-47 and ect bring to the table. Well said, Don. The problem is, that even the best white centers in recent years aren't as good as what some of us expect in a great center. I'd say the best were Walton and Cowens, with DC being the better of the two. If you tell me Bogut is another Dave Cowens, then I want him. I'm not convinced that he's what BK wants at this point. Remember, the Hawks have to spend 75% of the salary cap, so they HAVE to spend some decent FA dollars. The wisdom says they can't get Dalembert unless they overpay. Well maybe they should overpay. Philly's payroll is already way high. They might blink sooner than you think for Dally.
  25. A Boston board speculates that Chris Paul is an Ainge type of player, and the Celts would deal Pierce only if they had a shot at signing Ray Allen.
