  1. Everyone ready to draft tonight?
  2. Alright so the league has been renewed and a draft date set. If the day and time is bad for anyone, let me know in this thread please. Oh and most importantly, I'm just going ahead with the same teams as last year regardless, so as to avoid another debacle like last year where I caused a frustrating 2 hour delay. So let me know guys and gals if everything looks good!!!!
  3. He was fun to watch. He wasn't afraid of anyone. He has a little old school badassness to him which made him all the more fun to root for. I hope he's learned from his mistakes because he's definitely made some. But all in all, one of my favorite Hawks in recent history.
  4. I'm okay with the move but I hope he doesn't play any more than 15 minutes a game. If he starts stealing too many minutes from Huerter or any of the young guys, I'm gonna be pissed.
  5. Yep. You one of those that has a problem with it?
  6. The problem is that when it is asserted that there are females on the sideline or in whatever capacity with a sports media outlet that they are only there to serve as eye candy. That is ironically the shaming going on here. As if a beautiful female can't possibly have a brain or anything worthy of her position other than eye candy for guys unless they literally perform up to some standard that a bunch of guys seem to set in the first place that sets them apart. It's absurd. And let's not get into male athletes being more or less given media jobs when they retire because they played when they are sometimes obviously reading prompters and suddenly become somewhat inarticulate when they have to think quickly without a pre-scripted narrative to follow. But they played the game and they're guys so they can't possibly just be there without any merit like these clueless bimbos right? I judge every person in the media based on how well they do their job. The gender doesn't even come to mind. Just imagine for a moment if a male(or female really) team owner, politician, major corporate ceo, etc. were echoing the same basic opionion as in op's first post in an interview on tv or wherever they might be publicly opining on such a matter. What do you think the reaction from the world would be? I got news for you. It wouldn't end well for them because it's clearly misogynistic. Papa John probably, much like op, probably is sitting there today wondering how America became such a bunch of sensitive bunch of whiners. He, like op, suffers from being tone deaf and living in a bubble that gets reinforced instead of challenged. That's the only point I'm trying to make and if you think I'm wrong, try speaking of females in such a manner more publicly in your life. If you run for office, let this nugget about your mindset out there for the general public to decide. We'll see how it works out for you. Alas this is just a message board for a sports team so it's a safe space to be controversial but trust me it wouldn't fly in a more important arena where there are consequences for speaking in ignorant and tone deaf ways.
  7. Lol. The only funny thing here is that you seem to think you were actually complimenting women in your original post. This is about you sir and if you think referring to females as "chicks" is cool, you're no gentleman and have a lot to learn. In fact your entire original post reads like a joke where a guy is actually thinking he's being respectful to females but fails miserably. But, sadly, it seems you don't really care and just want to turn it on me. Typical internet message board trolling.
  8. "Chick" broadcasters? Really? I really hope you are more tactful and less tone deaf when referencing females in your personal interactions.
  9. But for the record, even though I'm warming up to Trae, I think we should have stayed with Luca as I am in the crowd that thinks he will be a generational talent. Trae too possibly but Luca is a little more of a sure thing imo.
  10. This is just weird to me. If this potential trade was actually on the table AND IF Cleveland wants to remain a playoff contender, how would they not make this trade? I mean they could have had Luka Doncic alongside George Hill, Baze at the 3 and Love and Thompson. That's actually a legit playoff contending starting five. Again, if true, I'm glad Cleveland didn't accept because we might have lost out on Trae and not have an extra 1st round pick coming our way in the next few years.
  11. Granted it's just summer league, but I haven't seen game changing passes like that from a Hawks player in a long time.
  12. It all depends on how Dennis accepts his new role. Ideally, he comes out blazing hitting some 3's, getting 20ppg and appearing to be a good teammate. This is the only way right now we start hearing better offers. However If he's a malcontent, I fear we'll have to accept the best of the worst offers. I'm not a believer in keeping a sour grape on your squad due to the impact it can have on the overall locker room morale.
  13. One of Orlando, Phoenix or New York will eventually come calling with an offer. But honestly, I think the most we can hope for is a bad contract and a late 1st at best. And we'll be happy to take it even though, if put in the right situation, Dennis has more value than that.
  14. Yeah I think he's got room to improve. But he hit some in the most key situations...one even off balance with his left hand. He's pretty good.
  15. Perhaps but when you have a stepback 3 as he does, you don't have to rely on taking people off the dribble. There's a good reason he was being compared to Harden. Harden just has a way of using his body to create space and Doncic, as shown in the many clips of his performances in this latest championship run in Europe, can do the same things. He's going to be good. The question is just how good.
  16. The first part of this post I can see being more possible than the second. I'm predicting 16 ppg and 5-6 assists per game from Doncic and I'm actually going low on that. I do think that Trae will put up better numbers than Doncic this season though for sure. I mean Trae's going to have a high usage whereas Doncic will be playing off of Dennis Smith a lot. I think some forget they have a pretty dang good young man in Smith that will limit Doncic but it wouldn't surprise me if they trend more towards playing through Doncic as the year progresses.
  17. That's cool if that's the case but it would be nice to know what are the "perks" of being a supporter vs. a non-supporter. I screw up my grammar and ramble a lot so the edit was very useful to me lol!
  18. When Hawksquawk was in ICU for that period of time, I think there were some leftover brain damage that rendered some site functions unavailable for the overall security of the site.
  19. My hurt is over and another scar I have as a fan of various GA sports teams. So now I'm just really excited to see what we have. The would could be reopened if Doncic becomes a generational talent and Trae doesn't reach the level of his hype but I am truly excited to see this team on the court after about 20 or 30 games to get some chemistry. It's gonna be either really exciting or a major mess. Wound, not would....dang I wish the edit post would return!!!
  20. As the draft unfolded, It was bugging me knowing he did get his prediction right lol. Still he's stubborn as a mule.
  21. And yet it has resulted in bad teams getting a player they never would have before and helped them start to build a nucleus that has at times led to a championship. I'm sorry. I know the mods say stick to the post, not the poster, but you are not even trying to engage in a two way conversation and you need to be called out on it.
  22. Another general point about tanking too. There are degrees to which certain teams do it. If we're talking about starting out the season, game 1 of 82, with an agenda of losing on purpose, then I agree that is terrible. Now, maybe some teams have secretly held this goal but I highly doubt it. I think even the projected worst teams actually start out the year trying and seeing how it goes. But about 30-40 games in, let's be honest, a team knows what it is. And if that conclusion is that said bad team has nothing to gain by playing veteran players and benching youth to try and eek out a few more wins, then it's wise and a perfectly sound strategy.
  23. Never? That sounds like a statement of absolute truth. This is how frustrating it is to try and get through to stubborn people that seem incapable of even entertaining the notion of an opposing idea without having to accept it as truth. There are way more than one example of how due to being really bad/tanking and getting that one franchise changing player or even a couple in a short stretch of time, has catapulted a team from an otherwise undesirable location for any superstar free agent and floundering in mediocrity and overpaid leftovers after the big names are signed year after year to a desirable place to sign and make a run for a championship by those superstars. And NO THIS ISN'T A STATEMENT THAT IT IS THE ONLY AND ALWAYS THE BEST WAY! Can that be understood? Surely there's enough humility to see that this statement of it "never" is the best path is just factually wrong and yet it doesn't mean you have to run and hide in shame to admit it. I can understand the arguments against tanking and accept some of those points as valid without feeling the need to respond with something so empty of substance as this statement that is the equivalent of someone closing their eyes and putting their fingers in their ears.
  24. Your view is too narrow. Expand it and you will see that while you make some good points, you're not seeing the valid points others are making. You just come off as unwilling to see beyond your narrow interpretation of the data. It's clear that you are so upset about our current situation that you will just keep hammering away at how this won't work despite there being evidence it can and has for many other teams like us. We aren't Boston, LA, or NY which will always have a big leg up in attracting free agents if they can just assemble a mediocre core and find a decent coach. Our struggle is much more real and you just can't seem to handle that this is probably our best roadpath.
