  1. Dude, wake up from your wet dream and clean yourself up. That's great for us but never gonna happen.

    Question

I think #1. But then again, the "hype machine" controls my mind.
  5. Couldn't have said it much better myself, DJ. I would hate to see Josh leave town because he is so exciting at times. Still, his value is high and I still think he may not progress much more beyond what he does already. I love that he worked on his jumper and continued to improve but like you said, he can't finish worth a darn and can't penetrate very well. I haven't seen much improvement there at all. In fact, that was the knock on him before he was drafted...that he was all athleticism and little b-ball skill. I'm not knocking the guy, but he is our most valuable trade asset IMHO.
  6. Mann, you guys are a bunch of pathetic losers. Neither Roy nor Foye are pg's for one. Secondly, our biggest need is post defense. How were Roy or Foye going to help our post defense. Do you think we would all of a sudden be the Phoenix Suns of the east? That's crazy! Sheldon will help us where we need help the most, and don't give me this we have to draft a center garbage. It's post defense for the millionth time that was our biggest deficiency. Whether you crybabies like or not, this pick addresses that need. Keep thinking the Hawks should draft the best player available as if we are some fantasy league team. This is the real world.
  7. The difference is this guy plays a definite forward position...power forward. Which happens to be a position that is around the basket, kinda where all those lay-ups happened last year that were our biggest weakness. Oh, and this pf actually plays defense which will stop a lot of those lay-ups. So sorry if y'all feel disappointed that we didn't take another potential, hybrid guard/forward combo. WE got a tough power forward and we will be better because of it.
  8. Plus, I'm not willing to get possibly shafted in another trade by Phoenix.
  9. I'm a hard guy to make laugh. But you did it Lascar. Great post and pic.
  10. I wonder how he knows this and noone else knows? I think he is just a fa...whew, that was close. I thought I was Ozzie Guillen there for a second.
  11. I always get geeked up for the NBA draft. Maybe it's the "hype machine" that controlling my mind.
  12. I agree with you for the most part. One guy that still intrigues me is Morrison. If we did happen to pick him, you would have to assume a trade will follow to make room for him and get us a pf/c. I am not saying I hope that happens but Morrison is one hell of a scorer and any team could use his talent.
  13. Not defending ESPN but that was just a nugget. They have a pre-draft special on tomorrow that should be much more in depth. By the way, what is the source of this supposed trade between Houston and Atl?
  14. I think his line about getting serious about winning describes my feelings well about why I support getting Shelden. Some fans want to see us keep getting potential, high-flying, combo players. We need to fill a role for a change. A solid pf who could fill in at C, but only if the other team is playing small too, will be a nice addition. Then maybe we could look towards moving one of our sf's or guards for say a Gadzuric or something like that(ofcourse not Smoove or Marvin but maybe Donta, Chill, Lue).
  15. If Sheldon can play good D, rebound and get around 10 pts a game, he will be the exact opposite of a mistake. You don't have to be 7ft. tall. As long as you play in the post and will help stop the layup drills that were many hawk games last year, you are welcome on my team. Welcome to Atlanta Sheldon.
  16. What is it with politics and the board today? It just gets emotions running too high. Can't help but put this tid-bit in here though. You all do know that we are not a democracy. In fact, the framers warned against a democracy. It is mob rule. Nowhere in our constitution or in any constitution to any state will you find the word "democracy." We are a representative republic, and thank God for it. Now all go out and vote libertarian so we can get the equally bad repubs and dems out of office.
  17. Mann Walter, you are such a left-wing bed-wetter. I have to check myself sometimes from injecting my political views here when certain people, uh-hum, Diesel, start up politically charged discussions. I find I like people so much more(and vice versa) by just keeping the focus on b-ball. Pretty childish as well to take a shot like that the way you did when politics was nowhere in the picture. And by the way, the 911 commission report, if you choose to look at if from a "fair and balanced" point of view (like that insanely successful station that makes you so mad everytime you look at the ratings and makes the other totally unbiased stations look more and more pathetic), will give you your proof that you need to show the connection between Sadaam and Al-Qaeda. But, it's not like I expect you to accept the truth...you're a LIBERAL!!! Facts would only get in the way of your agenda.
  18. First of all, Marvin and Shelden don't play the same position. Marvin is a sf in case you didn't know. So if Marvin gets benched, it won't be because we drafted Shelden..."get it?" If Marvin loses playing time, it will be because Smoove gets moved to sf. That's another issue though. It would be great if Shelden were a bit taller and could play center full-time but one fact still remains. He will play in the post and he will improve our defense in the post. This is the most pressing need for this Hawks team. Whether he is a 4 or 5, he will fill our biggest need to a large extent. It is not a mandatory that he play the 5 to address our post defense issue. It will then be up to Zaza to show he can atleast hold his own defensively(which he failed miserably at last year). I'm no big fan of BK myself. But I'm giving him this year(given he has a job if Belkin has his way) to finally show us a winning product.
  19. I think the main reason people are sounding more and more optimistic about the Landlord being a Hawk is that he is a safe pick who fills a need. No he is not going to play Center much in the NBA but he is undoubtedly a big, strong dude who can atleast provide us with much needed defense in the paint. That is enough for me to justify taking him with our pick...even if he's taken at #5. Now I do hope that if we can trade down and still get him, that BK knows this and does it. Obviously it would be a mistake to ignore that possibility altogether. But spare me another draft where we don't address a need. Screw the go for the gold philosophy. There is no gold in this draft; therefore, it's the perfect time to draft according to need.
  20. Even if you are truly privy to insider information Miss Princess, you should be astute enough to expect skepticism here. All you have done is respond condescendingly to those here that question your credibility. Why not bring something to the table to validate your input to this site? If you really wish to garner respect from those true fans who post here(from Chillz to Diesel to KB to Dr. Zach to Exodus to all the rest), why not establish credibility first. If you do such, you will have all the respect you so desperately are seeking.
  21. Maybe someone could help me understand this better. What I want to know is how can he operate this franchise on the cheap and make money? I mean if he doesn't choose to invest in quality free agents or whatever else it takes to put a winning product on the floor, how does he think he's going to get butts in the seats, or jerseys sold, etc? Unless he has the ability to polish turds, who is going to want to see the Belkin run Hawks...a perennially low quality, losing, lottery-bound go-nowhere team? Help me understand his logic because I just don't get it.
  22. I'll bet Marcus Williams could lead the league in steals....if he really applies himself.
  23. Sounds like a potential great pickup. But explain this bias against Latin players in more detail if you don't mind.
  24. ^^^Thank you tmac. I like Zaza for offense and his scrappiness. But he could not play D as of last year. If he will improve this year we will just have to wait and see. Sheldon at C would still be better than Zaza from a defensive standpoint. That seems kinda obvious to me. Personally, I'd like to see Zaza at C and Sheldon at PF for stints to see how that works out. Put Smoove at sf, JJ at sg and maybe Rondo at pg...if the draft works out that way. Here's to BK getting Sheldon and Rondo in this draft. Yea come on!
  25. I disagree. We would still be a sub .500 team...just not by as much. Maybe 30 wins but that is it. You have to remember that the main reason we lost so many games last year was due to lack of interior defense. Zaza isn't going to all of a sudden next year know how to play that much better D. He is a guy who needs help. That is why I won't cry if we get Sheldon. With Sheldon , I think we become close to a five-hundred ballclub.
