  1. Is anybody watching the Suns vs Grizzles. Mayo is lighting up the Suns. Forget Rudy Gay; Mayo may be their best player. The Grizz remind me of the Hawks of a couple years ago; talented but flawed by youth.
  2. Sources: Raiders look at releasing CB Hall as soon as Wednesday By Chris Mortensen and John Clayton ESPN.com Angered by the Oakland Raiders' 2-6 start, team owner Al Davis asked his front office staff to explore the possibility of releasing several players, including cornerback DeAngelo Hall, according to multiple sources. The Raiders are expected to release Hall on Wednesday, sources told ESPN's Michael Smith. The process started on Monday, a day after the Raiders' embarrassing 24-0 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Davis, looking ahead to rest of the season and to 2009, asked his staff to study a list of potential players who could be let go before the end of the week or after the season, sources said. One source said the list included more than a dozen names. The Raiders' front-office staff studied the cap consequences of releasing high-priced veteran players. He also wanted his staff to see if other teams might claim any of these players on waivers. The team was planning on making the move to release Hall on Tuesday before holding off, according to NFL.com. The Raiders have paid Hall $8 million for eight games, and also gave Atlanta a second-round pick for his services. NFL.com reported the move to waive him now helps the Raiders avoid paying Hall $16 million worth of injury-guaranteed bonuses in his contract. Hall has 48 tackles and three interceptions for the Raiders, including a season-high eight tackles last week against the Falcons. Hall isn't the only Raider under consideration for release. Wide receiver Javon Walker received an $11 million signing bonus and a $1 million base salary this year, but he has only 13 catches in his first seven games with the Raiders. The other players on Davis' list are unknown. At his Monday press conference, interim Raiders coach Tom Cable said he was thinking of making more changes in the starting lineup. Since taking over for Lane Kiffin, Cable has benched wide receiver Ronald Curry and safety Michael Huff. If Davis gets his way, some changes might be permanent.
  3. 1. Acie will have a definite role on the team. His development improves; no more of him only playing the first half then sitting out the second half. With the increased playing time Acie's confidence grows. I definitely believe Acie can replace Childress' scoring off the bench. Heck if Acie is the team's future PG, the time to develop him is now. 2. When Marvin is hot in the first quarter, he won't have to worry about coming out of the game first. With Childress gone, this puts more pressure on Marvin to perform well; which can only be a good thing. 3. Josh Smith is forced to play less on the perimeter. (Enough Said) 4. No more of Childress playing the 1; which really isn't an advantage for the Hawks anyway, considering Chills can't post up smaller players because he isn't strong enough. Also this number ties directly with #1. 5. The team signs an outside shooter that helps open up the floor ala Kareem Rush. 6. With the extra money the team will have by not having Childress on the cap (if renounced), that money could be used to sign a legitimate big; which is necessary. See it's not the end of the world if Childress leaves for the more money in Greece.
  4. Last I checked Josh Smith ain't no Kobe Bryant. Josh has no power over what the team does with other players on the roster. Also for the record Josh Smith and Marvin get along fairly well. Apparently you have never seen the videos of the guys on the team together. Just keep on daydreaming of those stupid Marvin for nothing trades.
  5. Yeah, I know what your talking about. I just Horford's not hanging around Noah and his foolishness.
  6. Quote: Note, this is an overhaul for ASG... It will get us into the playoffs and put butts in seats... First trade: Bibby/Marvin to Denver for Allen Iverson. Both Bibby and Iverson are on the last year of their contract. Iverson is a great defensive player. Iverson is a great fan draw. That statement shows how little you know. Steals just like blocks does not equal great or even good defense.

Next year about this time, Nobody will remember Shelden's draft. But everybody will still get upset about us passing on Paul. We had 5 Sfs when we drafted Marvin. NO PGs. Shelden actually was drafted to fill a need. Maybe we could have traded down. However, that draft was to fill a need. The 2006 draft was a much worse experience. We were picking BPA and we didn't get that right. It will be kind of hard to forget when Brandon Roy is playing in the all-star game agaign. Brandon Roy = At home watching the playoffs, planning his draft lottery party. Chris Paul = getting ready to beat the Spurs again. Planning to play the Lakers in the WCF. Roy is a nice player. However, Roy was not a big need. We couldn't pass up a chance to get a big again... during Roy's draft. Like I said.. Sure we could have traded down.. or something.. but the Shelden pick is more justifiable than the Marvin pick. Where was Chris Paul this time last year? So in your mind drafting a complete stiff is better than drafting a player that contributes to the team. In my mind... Had BK not gotten a big in that draft... the whole city would have called for his head. What made the Marvin pick so stupid was the fact that we had no C, no PG and 5 Sfs. What made the Roy Pick just as bad is the fact that we had no C, no PG, 4 Sfs, and Joe Johnson. After picking Marvin, BK didn't have the clout to get Roy over a big. What made the Shelden Williams pick so stupid is that he wasn't even a consensus top ten pick. Marvin was a consensus 1 or 2 pick in that draft. BK could have drafted a PG (Rondo) instead of Shelden and nobody would have complained about not picking Shelden.

We did such a job against Boston.. but then everyday since... all that the media talks about is... "Passed over Paul to take Marvin". It time for you to grow; grow away from your Marvin infatuation. Seriously what did Marvin do to you? Did he steal your girl? Did you write him a love letter and he didn't return your affections? What is it? No... His pick f----- up my team. You are typical. You don't want to hear the truth. The truth is that passing on CP3 will go down as the biggest blunder in Hawks History. Um... Marvin didn't pick himself. Weren't you the one who wanted this team to pick another project player (Yi) this past draft.

  12. Quote: I think Chris Paul got BK to resign. Chris Paul is the mistake that never went away. You must admit that CP3 is now the best PG in the game... Marv Sucks in comparison. And now that CP3 is MVP candidate, after every big CP3 game, we hear how he should have been a Hawk. More importantly, when CP3 said that he wanted the Hawks to draft him and he had his best pre-draft workout with the Hawks... It sealed BK's fate. What about the your boy Shelden being picked! That's what didn't get BK an extension. Shelden won't even be in league 3 years from now, yet Brandon Roy was an all-star last year.
  13. Quote: Quote: I have heard gearon and nique both say that team decisions were made collectively. Although BK signed off as GM they all made the decisions together. So while BK maybe need to take alot of the blame he shouldn't get all of it. Since nobody has said it, I will say this: BS. BK was a maverick until his Marv mistake became evident. What about your boy Shelden Williams being picked Diesel? That pick was definitely worse than picking Marvin; especially considering Marvin was the consensus 1 or 2 pick in the draft. At least Marvin will be in league 3 years from now; as for Shelden I'm not sure.
  14. Quote: I'm sorry, but most of this is hogwash and wishful thinking. I don't care how young Marvin is. I've seen players who can get it done and Marvin is not one of them. His clumsiness, inability to finish or even take a hit, poor hands, and docile nature are what doom him. You can forget him ever being a star. My eyesight and years of watching the game says so. Can he be an adequate contributor? Perhaps. But for the Hawks....at the SF position....he is not what we need. If we can't find someone at that position (or move JJ there and find a SG) who can stretch the floor, then our offense will continue to lack consistency and balance. Zbo I didn't say that Marvin was going to become some big time star. My point is that it makes no sense to believe that Marvin has gotten as good as he can get. To say Marvin can't improve his balance also makes no sense; that’s like saying someone he can't get stronger at his age. This team doesn't space the floor because of the lack of a low post scoring treat and the lack of an offensive system. If anything Marvin helps space the floor because he's one of the few guys on the team that can consistently hit a jumpshot. It doesn’t take eyesight to know that at age 21 someone has not reached their peek. The bottom line is that IMO neither Marvin nor Josh Smith will reach their potential with Mike Woodsen as head coach.
  15. Actually Marvin has improved in some areas. In fact Marvin was the most consistent player on the team the first half of the season. His shot has improved. He's added the floater in the lane. He draws more fouls. His defense has improved by leaps and bounds since he came into the league. Marvin's on the ball and post defense was terrible when he came into the league now they are so much better in fact his defense is more consistent than Josh Smith's. Yeah with Smooth you get the block shots but to many times he plays olay defense (he gives up to many easy baskets when he's posted up). The problems with Marvin are correctable considering he's ONLY 21 YEARS OLD. If you want to talk about a player who hasn't added anything to his game; lets talk about Josh Childress. Diesel name something Chills has added to his game since he came into the league.
  16. Quote: Quote: Quote: Quote: Quote: I think it's because Smoove tries. 22 and trying vs. 21 and not giving a damn are two different things So now Marvin doesn't try and he doesn't give a damn? You are unbelievable sometimes D. Dude. The proof is in the play. Honestly, do you see any passion in Marvin's play when the game is on the line? I'm not talking about garbage time or midgame when we're just going back and fourth or the game doesn't count. I'm talking about when we need points.. Where's Marvin? I put my GPS on him.. I'll tell you where he is.. He's standing on the high post hoping that somebody would throw him a pass. But his arms are down and he's watching the play develop just like I am. That might not be doesn't give a damn, but it's in the neighborhood. So Marvin played with no passion in Games 6 & 7 when the season was on the line? Diesel your comments are ridicoulous. The difference is just that Josh makes ooh and ahhs plays. They both have issues that they need to solve Marvin's is more of an physical issue and Josh Smith's is more of a mental issue. Problem is only one of those issues is actually solvable. You can't turn a duck into a swan, but you can change a schizophrenic into at least a walmart greeter, with good meds. I disagree; it's much easier to change someone's physical state than their mental state. With the proper weight training, workouts, and coordination drills Marvin's physical issues can be fixed. Marvin has not physically grown into himself. Different people grow into themselves physically at different ages. Everyone doesn’t have the mold of a Lebron or Dwight Howard, in that their fully grown at 18. It's called putting on that grown man weight and Marvin hasn't reached that point. Smooth's mental issues will take more work. First he needs a different coach to listen too that he respects. Second he has to adhere to what that coach is saying. Basically if you have two players entering the league one is a hothead and one is physically limited (weak and uncoordinated), who has the better chance of changing that issue? Nine times out of ten the physically limited kid has a greater chance solving his issue. Your comment about someone being a schizophrenic, are just plain idiotic. I have an uncle who is a schizophrenic and he’s been dealing with that for 20 plus years. Medication does not cure schizophrenia. So don’t talk about something you have no idea about.

  18. Man you need to seriously get over your man crush on Jermaine O'Neil. It's not as bad as Diesel's man crush on Marvin but it is pretty bad.
  19. Quote: LOL that was a pure luck shot. Marvin has never made a shot like that in his entire career, he'll never do that again. The facts are that Childress rebounds better, passes better, turns it over less, shoots a better %, finishes inside MUCH better, and as sad as it is a better 3pt shooter. Neither one of them can create their own shot, but at least Childress doesn't force it and end up turning it over like Marvin does. That shot wasn't a pure luck shot. Anyone could see that Marvin took his time and shot that with confidence. To say he won't never make that shot again is just foolish. The key for Marvin is to take his time and not try to force things. Just like Josh Smith, Marvin needs to focus on things he has sucess with (jump hook, turnaround jumper, catch and shoot) and stay away from the things he struggles with (going to hole, dribbling to much). Childress shots a better percentage because he never shots the ball it just tip ins on offensive rebounds. The truth is Childress has no chance to create his own shot yet Marvin can when he's not tripping over his own feet.
  20. It appears to me that his potential has reached its peek. He can’t create his own shot because it takes him to long to shot the ball and he can’t post smaller players up. We’ve seen time and time again where he has tried to post up smaller players yet he’s too weak to back them down; also he can’t shoot over top of a smaller player because of that slow release. (He couldn’t post up Earl Boykins IMO) There is no room for his offense game to grow with that release. People try to compare his release to Shawn Marion’s yet Marion’s release is rather quick; Shawn doesn’t need 5 feet to get his shot off. It’s amazing to me how many idiotic posts there are claiming Marvin has no potential to get better or that Marvin is a bust, when the truth is those people are really talking about Childress. Even though Marvin’s development has been a major disappointment the fact is there has been some development unlike Chills. Marvin posted up PP yesterday and scored on a turnaround fade-away jumpshot. There is no way Childress could do that. I like the energy Childress brings but the truth is that he a highly limited player. Don’t people realize we could have had Andre Iguodala instead. IMO if Iguodala had been drafted than no way Marvin would have been the pick the next year over a point guard. Remember Billy Knightmare wanted Joe to play the point so that Childress wouldn’t have to go to the bench. Paul/D.Williams and Iguodala >>>> Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, and Josh Childress.
  21. Quote: That was a horrible call indeed. Ill rarely say this but the calls have decidedly gone bostons way tonight Yeah, as soon as it was announced that Joe Forte, and d*ck Bavetta were two of the officials; I knew the calls were going to totally favor the Celtics. It's like David Stern specifically called the officials he could count on to officiate the game more one sided.
  22. Quote: Marvin on not being suspended for stepping on the court. "That's a relief," Williams said. "I would have been sick if they told me I couldn't play. But really, what was I going to do running down there, get knocked out? I didn't want any part of that." LOL @ MarviN being scared of getting his butt kicked. He just lost some points on the "tuffness scale" with that quote. Zaza +1 Marvin -1 I don't know where you got the part I bolded from. Espn, SI, and the AJC have no such quote from Marvin. Therefore that part seems a little suspect (made up). Truth be be told everyone knows that Marvin would be about the last guy on the team to run on the court in that situation.
  23. Yeah Bob Rathmun pretty much called him out for his comments on air.
