  1. If Joe wants a s-n-t to the Cavs; then it ain't happening. The Cavs have no player of interest for the Hawks. No thanks too; Mo Dodo, Delonte Crazy, and JJ Hickson.
  2. Some of you guys on this board read everything as if it's the unquestioned truth! Like the phony story (that started this post) about Nike creating shoes for every city LeBron visits during free agency.
  3. How does Josh represent Atlanta when he's never seen being involved in something in the A. Also, when has Josh been in any television endorsement commercials. To compare Josh to Vick, Dominique, Deion, and Jeter, is asinine. If you went around Atlanta and asked people what player comes to their mind when you say Hawks, Josh wouldn't even be the second choice.
  4. Its time to move Horford to power forward as the starter. The reasoning is not based on his defense while playing center, but based off of his effect offensively playing power forward. During the Orlando series the only time the Hawks were effective was during Game 2 when Al was playing the 4 and the team were feeding him the ball offensively. Al's offensive skills are way more valuable at power forward. Horford has the ability to overpower and therefore draw a double team while playing power forward; something Josh can't do. The truth about Josh Smith is that he still has a limited offensive skill set in the post. Josh tries to use one move in the post 90 percent of the time (you know where he tries to drive or spin left and use the up and under move). Against good teams in the playoffs, that move is not effective because those teams have time to scout Josh and are generally better defensive teams anyway. Therefore, the only way Josh is effective against those teams on offense is when the Hawks can get out on the break. However its hard to get the fast break going when your playing better teams. Defensively Al is the best player on the team at guarding players off the dribble (remember last season when Chris Paul tried to take Al off the dribble late during a close game and Horford blocked his shot, to seal a Hawks win). Also, it's been posted that Al, statistically was the best center at defending in the post. In other words, since Al is the best on the team at moving his feet defensively and is a solid post defender; than it won't be a problem for him to defend power forwards full time. Consequently Josh's biggest weakness on defense is guarding off of the dribble (by the way I think the Hawks are mostly terrible at guarding off the dribble). The main thing Josh Smith brings defensively is (weakside help) block shots and inconsistent rebounding; those things are mostly replaceable. Josh's lack of shooting range/consistency and weak defense off the dribble makes him a terrible candidate to move to small forward. Therefore to really take advantage of Horford's improving offensive skillset the Hawks should trade Josh Smith for a top 3 pick in this year's draft (See: G-State trade post) . If Pick 1 by some miracle then the Hawks get John Wall; no explanation needed. Re-sign Joe. With this the Hawks trade Marvin to Memphis for Hasheem Thabeet. All the Hawks have to do is point out to Memphis (a franchise struggling financially) would they rather have Marvin scoring 15ppg and 5rp at 7.5 million or would the Grizzles rather have Rudy Gay at twice the price. By the way I truly feel Marv could put up those number on a team with two solid low post players. To those who think the Grizzles wouldn't trade Thabeet, let me ask you this. Really is there any reasonable chance of Thabeet starting over an all-star caliber center in Marc Gasol? Next the Hawks re-up Josh Childress and insert him as starting SF. If its pick 2 then the Hawks take Evan Turner. He would effectively replace Joe Johnson long-term, heck even if Joe returns then the Hawks would have a solid pair of wings. See: Grizzles trade If its pick 3 then you take Cousins (yeah he's a little crazy but I think he'll be alright if Al takes him under his wings). Cousins would be an excellent fit to oppose Howard on both ends of the floor. He is a taller version of Kendrick Perkins defensively. On offensive he would have the ability to draw Howard out of the paint because he has the ability to hit the open jumpers. Starting lineup with Pick 1 Thabeet Horford Childress Johnson Wall Bench: Crawford (Free agent signed) Craig Smith Zaza Teague Bibby Starting lineup with pick 2 Thabeet Horford Johnson Turner Teague Bench: Crawford (Free agent signed) Craig Smith Zaza Bibby Starting lineup with pick 3 or 4 Cousins Horford Williams Johnson Teague Bench: Crawford (Free agent signed) Craig Smith Zaza Bibby
  5. John Wall won't be good (Bibby in his heyday was good) he'll be face of the franchise great / best point guard in the nba potentially great. Lets face it, the Hawks have not had a true face of the franchise since Dominique. Besides Wall being the caliber of a player that can eventually lead a franchise to championship(s) (see: superstar), he can do something no Hawks player currently can do; he will fill the arena seats with fans. It's time that Hawks management and fans grow a pair and realize that Josh may not get any better than he currently is (a non all-star). Josh Smith is not or will not be a face of the franchise changing player for the Hawks.
  6. If the Warriors get a top 3 pick, it could benefit the Hawks greatly. Now is the time for Hawks management to become proactive, its not the time for complacency. Complacency will likely lead to years of mediocrity at best. The way to stave off mediocrity is for the Hawks to make some trades. Sorry some non Hawks fans (you know people who are truly only fans of a particular player on the team and not the team itself) but its time to trade the player with the most trade value on our roster "Josh Smith". Truly, if it took Josh 5 years to figure out he shouldn't be shooting 3's, then how long will it take for him to figure out some other simple things. A trade to the Warriors would greatly benefit Josh. He would really improve their porous defense and would be a shoe in all-star playing in that system. There is no player in this draft that would have as much of an immediate impact on the Warriors as Josh Smith. The Warriors already have a star a point guard in Stephen Curry and Derrick Favors is gonna take years to develop (heck Lawal out rebounded and out scored Favors at Tech last year). 1. Say Golden State gets the first pick. The Hawks must attempt to put a package together to try and get John Wall. Hawks trade: Josh Smith 2010 #24 Pick Future 1st Round Pick Warriors trade: 1st pick (John Wall) Vladimir Radmanovic Kelenna Azubuike With this trade the Hawks finally get a franchise point guard and get the Paul/Williams monkey off their back. If the Hawks are gonna even think about giving Joe Johnson near max money, they better get a point guard to run the show, therefore prolonging Joe's effectiveness. The Warriors get the perfect fit for their team in Josh Smith. They move Azubuike and Radmanovic for cap purposes sense their contracts (expire after 10-11 season) add up to 10 million plus. Next Post= Why its time to move Horford to the 4 and how the Hawks can get a center. After the lottery, if the Warriors end up with the 2 or 3 pick in the draft (maybe even the 4 pick); I'll explain why the Hawks would still be better off moving Josh for that pick.
  7. When are people gonna learn not to believe every wumor they hear. That's right I said "wumor" with a w; because its just empty words. Heck its not like 680 is even the Hawks flagship station. Also, that station has some of the most clueless (supposed) sports people I've ever heard on air.
  8. Um.. the Hawks looked terrible versus the Bucks. In other words your point is not valid.
  9. Yup, there was definitely some booing by the Cavs fans. Heck even LeBron acknowledged it, but unlike Joe Johnson, LeBron handled things the right way saying that "the fans should of expected the Cavs to play better, because they have seen them play better so the fans have a right to be disappointed." Just another lame attempt by someone trying to defend Joe Johnson's stupidity.
  10. Let's see now, one franchise (Boston) has won more nba titles than most nba franchises combined and the other has never made it pass the 2nd round of the playoffs (Atlanta). Hawks fans have a lot more to b*tch and complain about than a Celtic fan ever will. Heck the Celtics just won another championship two years ago and its okay for their fans to boo, yet its not okay for a Hawks fan to boo; makes no sense.
  11. Um... No team is going to trade for Marvin (pillsbury dough boy soft). Second let me correct your trade proposal (you stole). Hopefully G-State gets one of the top 2 picks in the draft. If so then I feel they are a team that would be interested in Josh Smith. Hawks trade: Josh Smith Rights to Josh Childress (sorry Disel) Future !st round pick This trade works for the warriors because Josh fits there offensive system (Nellie will be back next season) and he would greatly improve their anemic defense. The trade works cap wise because Craig "use to be speedy" Claxton and Raja Bell 10 million plus combined salary comes off the books after this season. The trade works out greatly for the Hawks because trading Josh Smith allows the team to draft a replacement for Joe Johnson and frees up cap space to go after a marquee free agent (Wade, LeBron, Bosh).
  12. There is no excuse for the lazy/dumb way that Josh plays sometimes. It's those type of lulls that are the reason he didn't make the all-start team this year. The crap he pulled early in the 3rd quarter started the downward tilt of the Hawks momentum they had built.
  13. Well you know the team don't respect the coach when players feel comfortable enough to throw balled up paper at him. Do you think a player would even think of throwing paper at Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, or Jerry Sloan? Heck no! By the way this happened on a clip that nba.com showed of the hawks in the looker room before a game earlier this year. Bibby was throwing paper at Woodson while Woody was looking at some chart or something before a game.
  14. Note to Woody "the sh*t don't work".
  15. Yeah Mo never passes the ball on a fast break. He always looks to throw up some type of shot or he misses a layup.
  16. D.R.P.

    Blow it up.

That's called scoring off of team offense. Something hawks fans never see in the 4th quarter.
  17. This team doesn't need to rebuild. What this team needs is an NBA caliber coach, that actually uses a point guard on offense.
  18. Gearon said Woody would be judged on the team's play this postseason. However I would be surprised if ownership was smart enough to not bring Woody back.
  19. Yeah this team is special alright. Just special in a bad way.
  20. Well a couple of years ago Charles Barkley said Cleveland and Milwaukee are basically the same place.
  21. Can't believe Josh finished ahead of LeBron's overrated defense. The funny thing is that Josh still has a lot of improvement he can make defensively. Such as guarding off the dribble, and boxing out for rebounds.
  22. I was at game 6 vs. Boston and it was great then, however.... I think Miami has ruined the whole whiteout thing, the Heat made it look so lame.
  23. Yeah, that's one of the perks about playing in Atlanta. There's no paper that gets all up in the players personal business.
  24. The main key to the Hawks beating the Magic is ball movement. Also, by getting Howard in foul trouble and extending Horford out of the post.
  25. Joe had 8 assists after 3 quarters. Guess how many he had at the end of the game. If you guessed 8 then your right. The Hawks built the lead in the 3rd quarter with good ball movement (meaning Joe was passing the ball to teammates), however in the 4th quarter Joeful showed up once again.
