  1. This trade relies on the hope that Amare stays healthy which is probably too big of a risk.
  2. Given that Gotats numbers last year were: 3.8 ppg. and 4.5 rpg, Zaza might have been offered a max deal. :)
  3. Its still not too late to sign Filp.
  4. Possibly, but the above situation sounds like it involves the Hawks and at least one other team. These type of situations usually have very slim windows. So if it is true, Childress is likely not happy with it or he would have jumped already.
  5. I think that Sund will slow play the Marvin WIlliams signing until he can get something very reasonable. If he does not sign until next year, I think he would get much less money. This has less to do with the abilities of Marvin and more to do with economics of the NBA. If we do sign Marvin by July 15th, it will be to a very favorable deal likely with a team option on the end of it.
  6. This trade would make sense if we had not already done the Crawford Trade. If we are looking for final pieces we need a Center. With that said, this trade would hurt us rebounding wise but would make us better offensively and add some fire to the team.

    Big-Ben anyone?!

Ben would be a guy that would earn alot of minutes before the season was over.
  8. Shavlik Randolph How was someone that announcers called "a weakness" on Duke's team when their bigs would get into foul trouble. How did he become an NBA player? Also, how did he become someone we would actually want? Well...he didn't. We should take him off this list.
  9. I actually remember watching that play on TV... But I agree, Marvin can be a very passive defender. There was a recent play against Lebron (in the playoffs) at the end of a quarter where Marvin just let him go by and lay the ball in. Don't tell me Lebron is just so great...Marvin could have bumped him, hand checked him or even grabbed him (i.e. how the Lakers played Dwight Howard).
  10. We would hear talks of it as his agent would try to use it as leverage if it were even remotely possible. But, I have not heard anything, so I do not believe it is even on the table.
  11. Every analyst thinks he will take the QO. I personally think that with the shrinking cap and so many free agents available next year, the best he will get is get a 5 or 6 year deal starting at 6 million.
  12. One or more of these players are going to be around at the start of the season and we will be able to sign them for very cheap.
  13. Compared to the josh smith deal (5 yr. for 58), this seems about right. Actually compared to Luol Deng (6 yr. 71 mil), this seems like a bargain. Deng only average 14 points and 6 rebounds last year.
  14. It is definitely bad, but they feel that in order to keep Lebron they need to get better or at least maintain. I think if Varejao were not happy, he would have held out. I don't think he jumps ship because I don't think any other team gives him that type of money. To be honest, he is not as talented as other starting power forwards in this league, but he is getting starting PF kind of money. Also, like many analysts have said, without Lebron this team is awful. So why does Cleveland pay so much for awful.
  15. Well he also left to be "the man" and an all-star. However, the difference between us and Phoenix is that they were not willing to pay the money whereas I believe that we are. Joe really built this team and I can not see him going to another rebuilding situation. Once you couple that with the fact that we can offer Joe the most money, I think he will stay either way. As a last comment, one poster correctly pointed out that both sides should be motivated to make a move this year.
  16. I can't understand why people think the Pistons had a good offseason. They sign Charlie Villanueva whose team basically cut him. They sign Gordon whose team expressed little interest in keeping him (and I still don't expect him to play well with Hamilton). They are very likely to lose McDyess. And they are going to have to spend some time developing their draft pick. Also, the Magic actually go worse this offseason...how are they ranked so highly? The players they are losing: Hedo Turkoglu, Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston, Tony Battie, Marcin Gortat and Tyronn Lue could form their own team and be pretty good. The Magic should have realized that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush (where that bird is a NBA finals appearance and a top 2 finish in the East). And for the Wizards, they added talent but there is only one ball and 5 positions to defend and I don't believe that their team will deal with either fact very well. Other than those things, I agree with the list.
  17. Highlighting a few points and players: Jermaine O'Neal might be interesting to just keep him from MIA. Channing Frye probably has the most upside. I believe Petro and Swift were both drafted by our current GM. Magloire is probably the type of player we need. However, I think my targets would be Steven Hunter or Jerome James.
  18. He is getting less interest than Milsap (who himself is not getting much at all) this offseason. I think 5 years 35 million is reasonable.
  19. I think Bibby is the better shooter, especially in clutch situations. Pargo is a better defender, but really if the Hawks played better team defense where Bibby funneled his man into help, he would not look so badly. However, Bibby seemed focused on playing with Hawks and maybe feels like he has found a home. This will pay off as he mentors Teague.
  20. Funny article...and great point: "The Dunk" will resonate more without the tapes than with it.
  21. We should still be in a better position to sign him. Although I can't see Zaza working well in a Chris Paul offense. If Zaza's man doubles of the pick and role, I can't foresee any alley-hoop dunks.
  22. In short, the CBA is essentially a revenue sharing agreement--both numbers are based off of revenue. Not having a luxury tax number grounded in revenue would sort of defeat its purpose.
  23. I still can't believe that Detroit was clearing cap for this. I also can't see Gordon and Rip playing well together. Rip and Iverson did not play all that well together and where do the assists come from on this team? Also, where does the defensive inside presence come from?
