  1. Ok, then obviously I'm going to want Horford to play 80% or more of his minutes at C. Smoove at the 3 is just a flat out terrible idea.
  2. Sure, it would be nice, but as long as Horford keeps producing so well at the 5, I see no reason to take him away from that being his starting position, or the position he gets the majority of his minutes at. Maybe on a different team, but not this one.
  3. Quote: Show me one column written by anyone, or any post by a non-Hawks fan, who thinks Horford is best used as a full time center. Just one. Of course Horford would be a better 4 than a 5...but that doesn't mean he can't be a damn solid 5 since we already have a good 4.
  4. Quote: Other than getting overpowered by bigger players, getting in early foul trouble and not being able to score against bigger players i cant think of any reasons. Right now we are being badly outplayed at two positions, pg and C. http://www.82games.com/0708/0708ATL5.HTM We've addressed one problem with this trade. Now we have to address the other. Seattle is getting out-produced at SG and SF (whichever position you want to peg Kevin Durant for)... Do you see them talking about how they need to trade for a SF?
  5. Quote: People are speculating about trades because of BK supposedly saying that he is working on a deal that would move Al back to the 4. If BK does that, he better deal Smoove in the process, or this is going to be a much worse team.
  6. Quote: Well, Andris Biedrins(The guy many think would come our way) has better numbers than Al right now. I havent seen many Warriors games though, so I cant tell how good or bad he really is. Horford could definitely become a better PF than Josh Smith though, why do you feel he can not?? Also, im not advocating the trade of Smoove, maybe Marv, maybe some other players. I dont know. Plus, if Smoove can post up guys bigger than him at PF, watch how easy it is for him to post up these SFs. Is there really enough room in the post for Josh Smith, Al Horford, and another Center?? I don't think so. And IMO, Josh Smith will be a better PF than Horford for a number of reasons...He is a better athlete, he's a better defender, he's a better scorer. Really the only thing Al has on him is rebounding.
  7. Sure, he would be better at the 4, but Josh Smith would be better than him anyways, and we have no one at the 5 that would be anywhere near how Horf is playing there now...So, why even mess with it?
  8. He is playing great there...He is playing at least AVERAGE (if not "above average") defense against other C's in the NBA, and is certainly out hustling them and is still productive on offense. Josh Smith CANNOT play the 3 (which is what would have to happen if we traded for a 5 and moved Horf to the 4). He is at his best when he is playing PF... Not to mention, in that scenario we only have Bibby and JJ that can actually shoot a jump shot on the floor. Everything is just fine at all 5 starting positions right now...We just need to focus on getting a big body or two behind Horford. Any trade that moves Smoove to the 3 is a bad one. The only other big deal I would even consider doing would be Smoove for Biedrins and put Horford at the 4...However, I'd rather sit with what he have right now and see how it goes.
  9. First of all, I am REALLY excited about this trade...If for no other reason than we had to give up basically just expirings to get him. Now here are the questions... 1) What the deal with Bibby for this year?? I see he's only played in 15 games and is only averaging 13.5 ppg and 5 assists...Hopefully we can expect a bit more than that...also he is only shooting around 40% from the field (even though his 3 pt % is awesome). What can we expect from him? Is he healthy? 2) I am under the impression he is a shoot first PG, but how good of a passer is he? 3) Is he a good penetrator? 4) I also am under the impression he is a pretty weak defender...Is that right/wrong?? 5) Does he go well with a running offense? Is he good at pushing the ball up the court? 6) Where would you rank his overall skill out of all the PG's in the NBA? Hopefully he will REALLY open up this offense!!
  10. And it drops the suns from a projected 37-45 to 20-62...While it also drops us from 35-47 to 28-54. Strange...
  11. From what I have heard from people that know him from Alabama (where he is from), he is apparently a raging alcoholic.

  13. I LOVE Smoove's energy and passion for winning. I still remember last year, when I was one of the 3 or so "anti-tankers" on here, and Smoove came out and said he was the "anti-tank"...This team wasn't going to give any less than their all as long as he is here...I loved it. We really need to re-sign this guy!
  14. Quote: These are the two most useless guys on our team. We still have Solo and Lorenzen. Why not go after Kapono (Toronto already has 35 killer 3pt shooters) or someone? I've been saying this for a while... Our terrible 3 point shooting is this team's single biggest weakness...We need to get an awesome 3 point shooter in here to come in for JJ. I'm against Mike Miller bc he isn't really a shooting guard...I think Chillz and Marvin already have SF locked down. Kapono would be PERFECT! But I doubt we'd get him away from the Raptors...They'll want him for when the playoffs come around.
  15. Horford just had 20 rebounds and 15 points vs. Pau Gasol yesterday...He is absolutely 100% fine at playing C...We are golden there. Outside shooting is still the most pressing issue with this team...It would also be nice to have a better PG.
  16. Quote: This gets more absurd by the day. The whole point was that Shaq was taken out of the game before he should have been. If Shaq can't play in that last 50 seconds, then what's the point? Miami should show some class and retract their protest. It'd actually be better for them if they did so that they could get better draft position, LOL.
  17. Quote: Quote: If we DO make the playoffs, hopefully people will stop whining and complaining like little 7 year old girls and be happy that we finally got back to the post season. Agreed. Hope that day comes sometime soon. Unfortunately if you calculate our record, taking into account the discrepancies between home games played and road games played, we are on pace for 34-35 wins. Current Home winning%: 58 ... .58 X 41 = 23 home wins Current Road winning%: 29... .29 x 41 = 12 road wins. I'm not too happy with our performance this year, and to call people like me a little girl because I voice my displeasure about being a team on pace for 34 wins is pretty unreasonable IMO. I think BK and Woody have done a terrible job since being here. Northcyde says we can't dog Woody when we loose, because we don't give him props when he wins... I don't think this is a valid argument because most of the complaints I see don't have anything to do with W/L but the fact that we don't have a half-court offense, and we play without a sense of purpose on the road, etc. etc. Nobody can know if these things are the players or the coaches fault, but since Bk is the reason we have the players we have and Woody is the reason for how they prepare I think it's pretty reasonable to have the opinion that these two men have not done a good job since coming here. Actually, it's a .625 win percentage at Home, which would give us a projected 26 home wins and 12 road wins. That adds up to 38, which is EXACTLY the number of wins I predicted for this team before the season. And also as I said before the season, 38 wins should be good for either the #7 or #8 place in the East. I mean come on people...If the season stopped today we would be IN THE PLAYOFFS!!! Isn't this what we've wanted?? John Hollinger also has us winning 38 games in his season simulations. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds 38 wins for this team is right on the money as far as expectations should go. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy this team being in great position to make the playoffs.
  18. When we DO make the playoffs, hopefully people will stop whining and complaining like little 7 year old girls and be happy that we finally got back to the post season.
  19. LOL...Good post Dolfan...These people need to quit freaking out and just relax. This team should make the playoffs...Be happy that we are going to get there for the first time in almost 10 years.
  20. Someone like Anthony Parker, or Jason Kapono. We would be SO much better.
  21. C'mon man...After not being in the playoffs since 1998-99, people are honestly even thinking about wanting to miss the playoffs so our coach gets fired??? TheTruth, I realize you are just putting this out there, but the sad thing is there are many people who would rather us lose...Which is absolutely pathetic. And by default makes them not a fan of the team.
  22. It is awesome to see Smith and Marvin both "taking over" in games that JJ isn't playing as well. Those two having the ability to put the team on their back is really helping us gut out some tough and much needed wins.
  23. What a breath of fresh air off the bench...Keep it up Josh.
  24. Quote: Quote: I don't know much about him, but after looking at his profile on ESPN, I don't understand how he's any better than what we already have??? .398 fg %, .226 3 pt % No thanks...We need an outside shooter. you cant just look at stats alone Oh I know...I wasn't being sarcastic, I was being serious. I literally know nothing about him, have never seen him play, etc. I was asking for a run down from someone who likes him a lot.
