  1. NO WAY do i want Harrington back in ATL....FLAT OUT NO....besides not sure if even get better with that big of a change in LD offensive this late in the season.
  2. Since Rick Sund wont go after Carmelo Anthony unless someone plants the idea in his brain Inception style....Another plausible alternative would be OJ MAYO and Tyshaun Prince Here is the Why. Mayo would give us more athleticism and poise at Guard Position that Teague or JC2 has demonstrated at this point. He is a good defender and YES i know another COMBO guard doesnt solve our PG issues but hell at this point its worth a try as Teague is not Getting any run anyway. Trade Teague and our trade exception for Mayo and see how it works. Now to Tyshaun Prince Its simple he is in the last year of his contract the Pistons want to give him up so lets just get him and give them Marvin and some filler to make it work. WHY - Playoff Experience, defense and let me say Playoff Experience and defense again.
  3. Not more of this Joe Johnson Contract trade Talk...Listen in two years we can address that issue....But in HERE and NOW we need to get better. Simply Trade Crawford, Marvin Williams and Two Future 1st rounders to Denver for Carmelo Carmelo wants to get traded and that is a much better offer than anything that is left on the table for Denver...and plus we shed Marvin's contract and get to rent Carmelo for this season and possibly persuade him to resign. We have to DREAM bigger people....IF WE WANT TO WIN WE Have to take a chance at getting a Superstar now...besides Carmelo and Joe would BE SICK
  4. I actually just posted this in the Trade forum...but yes he is for the right price of course. :thumbsdownsmileyanim:
  5. The complexities swarming around Carmelo involves his willingness to sign an extension with the team. He has made it clear or atleast the media has, that the only team he will sign an extension with is the NYC. So if that's the case....Denver has a problem. They absolutely have to trade Carmelo by the deadline or be faced with a "Cleveland Cavs type Lost" It's been rumored that Chicago is willing to trade Luol Deng and Taj Gibson + Picks for Melo So why dont the Hawks trade Jamal Crawford, Marvin Williams + Picks for Melo. Even if he doesnt sign we will atleast move Marvin Williams contract off the books and although I like Jamal Crawford we wont resign him anyway. The upside the Hawks can attempt to make a contending type run in the Playoffs. COME ON SUND make the deal :phone:
  6. The Hawks are a solid basketball team that is not capable of competing for a championship as constructed. We all know this...If the Hawks are going to join the basketball championship discussion, then we have to make a bold move. Here are the two scenarios... Scenario #1 Bold Move Trade: Josh Smith, Jamal Crawford, Draft Picks to Denver for Carmelo Anthony. Why: - We get a legit scorer that commands a double team and will create a big Three: Carmelo, JJ and Horford that would be tough to defend and would instantly put us in the top 5 teams in the NBA. Obviously, the big question would be would he resign in ATL.. BOLD MOve- but highly unlikely for ATL to pull off. Scenario # 2: Slightly Better Hawks team with Upgraded Point Guard Play Trade with NJ - Devin Harris, Travis Outlaw for Jamal Crawford, Marvin Williams, draft pick Why: The Hawks finally get a future PG and would spell the end for Jeff Teague in the Offseason. Would make us alot better but still not in the Title discussion.
  7. Joe is the best player on the team, and you generally want you best player to take the last shot, unless....UNLESS someone is wide open.....We could of pass the ball a little bitter instead of Joe doing his ISO thing, but it was an interesting second half. We will learn about this team tonight...IF we get blown out by Orlando then not much has changed. These guys are athletes, and I know our schedule has been brutal with all the traveling and all, but the Hawks need to give 100% and unfortunately we still take quarters off. If that happens against Orlando then we will most certainly lose by 15 to 20 pts.
  8. Forget the Locker room issue...Shaq would have slowed the Hawks down considerably. The only reason shaq was in cleveland was to deal with Dwight Howard and they didnt even make it that far. To be honest SHaq fits well in Boston style of play. they are slow with exception of Rondo, and they run half court offense sets all the time. The Hawks are very athletic and excels when running an untempo game. I like SHaq from a popular aspect, bring fans to the game, his quirky quotes, etc., But to be honest, shaq just doesnt fit here. He didnt Fit in Phoenix, He didnt fit in Cleveland and THANK GOD he is not in Atlanta.
  9. If we trade Marvin to Cleveland for Shaq....I would lose all faith in the Hawks Mgmt. The only way Marvin should be trade to cleveland is if Varajao is coming to us...THats IT...no more guards, etc.
  10. I agree Absolutely....The Hawks would definitely gain some much needed size and toughness. Additionally, it would allow the Hawks to play at 2 speeds....fast, uptempo style when SHaq is on the Bench..and in those 4th quarters when we need rebounds, and baskets it would allow us to easily run screens using the big fellow. I would love to Have Shaq..the Hawks need to give him 15mins a game and pace him till playoff time. I would also like to another tough nose big men with some athleticism aswell to support the Hawks... AND BARNES WOULD NOT START OVER MARVIN......
  11. I mean alot of hawks fans including myself want to make up for that horrible decision of drafting Marvin WIlliams over Chris Paul. But I ask you this Tony Parker is in the Last year of his contract, why not try to get him...You put Tony Parker on the Team and we have a pretty good squad. Of course the real question is what are we willing to give up for him? And what would the Spurs Take.
  12. I know the chances of getting Lebron is like .001% and you gotta love ESPN for continuing to publish / create this type of anticipation as its good for their ratings, relevance, etc., And to be quite honest this is probably one of the biggest Free Agent Summers in the NBA in History. With all these stars available. The Hawks Ownership keeps proclaiming that they are willing to go into the luxury tax for the right player to build a contender. You overpaid for Joe, but the good thing is you have great assets in Josh Smith, Jamal Crawford, and other fillers like Bibby, Marvin to actually make some moves. SO COME ON ASG build a contender !!! "For his next act, Joe plans to actively recruit other top free agents to Atlanta, a place not unlike his hometown, where he feels comfortable and appreciated," Tellem wrote. "LeBron, you've already met with the front offices of six teams. How about considering the Hawks?" http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5354426
  13. [ The Hawks owner say they are trying to contend in the East with more moves....Who else will we target to trade...I hear rumors of Chris Paul / Okafor for Smith, Crawford, Bibby Friday July 2, 2010 1:40 S 1:40 John Hollinger: What do you think they're going to say -- "We signed the cheapest coach we could find and we're planning on selling the team." Hawks aren't going to go into tax and don't have assets to make a blockbuster deal without taking on a lot more money, which means it's status quo in Atlanta. I just hope this one time...the Atlanta Hawks Ownership would pull off a big trade that would make us contenders. I mean i know its wishful thinking but Chris Paul / Okafor for Smith, Jamal, Bibby and a future 1st. JJ and Paul would be the best backcourt in the league DAMN ASG Please make us Hawks Relevant. Ok....I just
  14. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/danpatrick/blog/117601/index.html#ixzz0sBUB0t9d Obviously rumors will continue to swirl all day long until their official contracts are signed. But what annoys me as a Hawks fan is we dont really try to compete for championships. I mean here we are after our rebuilding process with the #3 seed in the playoffs, albeit we had an average coach with poor offensive schemes, and all of sudden we are taking steps back. At some point you have to go for the title be atleast putting the pieces in place. Here we are now...in one of the biggest free agency periods in recent memory and the Hawks are only in the discussion for resigning a player that doesnt want to be a leader but wants the money. I dont blame Joe...I actually think if we lose joe for nothing then we go back to being a 6th seed out in the first round type of team. Point being if Gearon said he would go into the Luxury threshold to get Lebron then by all means prove it....Go after him or atleast make a real effort to go for a title. I actually think Wade would be a better fit....but you get my point. If the Hawks cant better this team this summer when all these pieces are available.....we will fall back into the inevitable rebuilding phase...when we should be reloading for a title run.
  15. Sothron you use to be the insider back on the original ESPN board where all of us (northcyde, Diesel, NJhawk) came over from. I'm not saying Mike Bibby by himself would be enough to get Devin Harris...obviously it would take some crafty package that may include Josh Childress. Sund is keeps things pretty close to the vest so all of this is speculation, and I am no basketball coach...I am a Consultant. Devin Harris is one of the PG Targets of the Hawks...or atleast a person of interest. Make no mistake...If Nets get the first round Pick...Devin Harris will be dealt. I believe Joe Johnson doesnt like the pressure of being a #1 and it showed during this years playoffs. And the more likely scenario has joe going to Chicago b/c they have the pieces to make it work. I wish we could get Wade b/c i think he is the leader we need...but we have less than 2% chance of that happening.
  16. Alot of this will depend on what Lebron James does first...so the Hawks have some time.
  17. Two of the 3 trades were mention as rumors by multiple media outlets ...do your research before responding. A sign N Trade will definitely happen genius if the Hawks cant resign him as the Hawks can offer him more than anyone under the Bird Rights.
  18. The Hawks will make 4 moves this offseason and guess what Hawks fans non of them involve Lebron James...LOL...but we already knew that. 1) Head Coach - Hawks will hire a head coach no later than June 1st. That gives the new coach a few weeks to prepare w/Sund for the Draft. Coach: The Hawks will probably give Casey the job, but Avery Johnson, Dan Majerle are in the mix. Avery Johnson price tag will probably be to high so look for Casey, Dan Majerle and Tyron Corbin to be the likely candidates. NO suprise here. 2) Once the Head Coach is in place the Hawks will trade Mike Bibby + Filler. The likely candidates would be to Nets for Devin Harris, provided that the Nets get the First Pick in the draft. 3) Sund really wants to bring Joe back but my guess is Joe Johnson is headed to NYC or NJ. And Sund will need to make a serious move to create some excitement in this organization. Unfortunately with the Hawks financial situation that move would have to be extremely Crafty to get a player to listen. Sund will meet with Joe Johnson the Second week of June and show him his plan. Options: a) Sign n Trade Joe Johnson for Chris Bosh. Why? It would move Horford to the PF spot, and allow Bosh to play center. Even though Bosh is undersize his versatility would give the hawks a formidable front line. Bosh, Horford, Smith...wow b) Sign n Trade Joe Johnson (plus filler) to Chicago for Joakim Noah, Brad Miller, and Kirk Hinrich + Draft Pick. Why- This works if the Hawks are not able to trade Bibby to Nets. Then Bibby would be packaged here....This would give the Hawks much needed size, but more would need to be done to get another shooter on this team. c) Would be the steal of the century...trading Joe to Miami for Wade...but that is only in the dream world. 4) Josh Childress will be back in Atlanta Uniform. The future of the Hawks is underway. The move Sund makes this offseason will determine if we are a top 3 team in the East or competing for the 8thspot...
  19. The Hawks had a pretty good offseason for once, however we need some more veteran grit to anchor our bench and strengthen our locker room. We all know Joe is a quiet type who doesnt necessarily lead vocally. Bibby is solid and Joe Smith helps our depth, but no one on our team knows what its like to win a title. I'm not saying the Hawks will compete for a title, b/c we just dont have the man power to contend with the big 4, but we can develop the toughness to compete. it takes Bruce Bowen has been on a winning team with the Spurs. Besides maybe he can help Josh Smith and Marvin Williams out a bit. Hell we extend JJ and add Bruce Bowen I would give our offseason a A-
  20. Hawks had a pretty decent offseason for once. We acquired Jamal Crawford who should immediately take some pressure off Joe in the backcourt, drafted Teague which hopefully can provide a spark off the bench and hopefully grow into our pg of the future. However other teams have made sizable moves...Boston, Cleveland got bigger and stronger and Orlando just got more versatile with Carter. And with the rumors of Miami getting Boozer the race for the top 4 spots have become a battle. Ok so we know Boston and Cavs are locks for the first two spots... #1) Boston #2) Cavs but the 3 to 5 range is definitely up for grabs and well in reach for the Hawks IF we Get a Veteran to provide some leadership and some more big men to add bulk to our roster. Move #1 Trade: Maurice Evans, Randolph Morris to Milwaukee for Bruce Bowen WHY: Bowen plays great defense, has experience that could mentor Marvin Williams and maybe rub off on Josh Smith... Move # 2 Sign: Siler - this kid has the size to bang round underneath the basket. A old school bruiser and thats what we need. Joe Smith: This provides some basic insurance and could add say 5- 7ppg off the bench and maybe a few rebounds. Move #3 The last signee would be Big Baby. We need more pounds down low to bang with Shaq, Dwight Howard and the rest of those teams. Woodson could actually run two Squads A Squad Bibby Joe Marvin Smoove Horford B Squad Teague Crawford Bowen Big Baby - - Joe Smith Zaza - - Siler Woody would have no more excuses....this is a solid #3 seed team.
  21. Not even close. The Falcons have the best chance...and even that would take some luck.
  22. http://www.ajc.com/services/content/sports...=7&cxcat=21 Now the Hawks need to sign Marvin Williams and the core team will be in place. If Sund can move CHildress for say Camby then it would be a great off season. Veteran toughness is needed on this team, b.c I cant stomach getting swept in the playoffs again. :shock11:
  23. Its no secret the Cavs and Boston have the top two seeds locked up. But the Hawks have added some potency to the backcourt and in doing so have taken some pressure off of Joe Johnson. And depending on the resigning Marvin, Zaza and whether we can grab a season vet in Bowen and or Camby. With that said the spots 3 to 8 are all up for grabs and the Hawks have an outside shot to take the 3 seed if Rick Sund can manuever through this offseason. So far so good. Go Hawks Lets shoot for that 3seed.
  24. Craword, JJ, Bibby and Teague make up the Hawks backcourt. Josh Smith, Horford solidify the Front Courts future. Must Haves: Marvin Williams and Zaza Pachulia. Trade Bait: Josh Childress. The skinny: Look for Childress to be traded for Bruce Bowen and maybe a 2nd Round Pick or for Marcus Camby and a 2nd Round Pick. The Hawks have the talent but we need some veteran leadership that Bruce Bowen could definitely provide. He could mentor Marvin Williams and hopefully reduce Josh Smith's antics....The Hawks have a load of experience and If Sund can hold on to Marvin and Zaza then he gets a B+ for the offseason. If the rumored acquisition of Bruce Bowen and or Marcus Camby comes through then he gets an A-. Go Hawks.
