  1. Bases loaded, no outs, 9th inning... and we couldn't even tie the game. Opportune time for Jeff to suddenly forget he was the hottest hitter in baseball, and kudos to Andruw for effectively killing the rally. I'm gonna be sick. On that note, what a wonderful time for Andruw to suck it up in his contract year. We all know hes leaving, the least he could do for us before he bolts is to perform likes he playing for that next $100 million contract. Matt Diaz should have been pinch-hitting for Druw.
  2. 7-0 Braves - and still the first inning - as I speak. Yeah... I think I can get used to this.
  3. A 5th prospect is being shipped to Texas in the Tex/Salty deal. Beau Jones is being exported along with the beforementioned players from the trade yesterday. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Anmf...p&type=lgns Tim Brown's blog also mentions that the Braves are dangling Wickman. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/mlb_exper...LURvLYF?urn=mlb,40925
  4. According to a BravesNation poster, Gammons came on Baseball Tonight and stated that the other teams who were involved in the Tex trade talks (Dbacks, BoSox, Angels) all believe he'll end up with the Braves pretty soon. If true, then lets hurry up and get this trade finalized please... I hate seeing Salty sitting on the bench doing nothing and getting passed over for the likes of Julio "caveman" Franco. He needs to be up there getting at-bats.
  5. For those who didn't know yet, the Dark Knight is the sequel to Batman Begins. Teaser here: I had enormous doubts about Heath Ledger playing the joker. I admit that I haven't really seen a movie with Heath Ledger before, but his reputation as a "pretty boy" concerned me. I thought there were a dozen better actors better suited for the role of the Joker, and was flabbergasted that Nolan picked this kid to play such an iconic character. Well, color me impressed, cuz those doubts are quickly washing away. Firstly, here's a new pic of Heath in Joker duds. Credit goes to IGN for providing the pic: http://media.movies.ign.com/media/752/7521...mg_4746615.html Secondly, from the teaser alone, I think he sounds solid as the Joker. Wasn't used to it at first, but it quickly grew on me. But it wasn't his speech that sold me (it was good though), it was his laughter! The laughter is just so spot-on. I'm officially stoked, and I have complete faith in Nolan to deliver a (2nd) kickass Batman flick.
  6. Saw this a few weeks ago. From the previews and pictures I saw, I was expecting a whimsical fantasy tale. Instead, I was totally surprised to see how *SPOILER* violent and bloody this movie was, especially the scene where the spy lady was cutting the dude up like he was butter. I even grabbed my cheek reactively when she sliced it open *END SPOILER*. Even so, I thought the movie was superb, despite the somewhat misleading advertising.
  7. Incredibly saddened by this. I've been a fan of his for so long, watching his Japanese matches on bootleg VHS tapes my brother used to frequently obtain. Followed his career through WCW, ECW, and now the WWE... The image of him celebrating at the end of Wrestlemania with Eddie Guerrero is an image I'll never forget.
  8. Quote: Quote: Time to get over it. BK and Woody WILL BE here another year. Honestly, it's not that bad. I'll keep fighting it. You won't change [censored]. MAYBE if enough people react negatively enough they will. W You probably won't be changing [censored] either, cuz your complaints are falling on deaf ears (ownership ears). Plus, not too many people outside this contigent of hardcore Hawks fans give a damn about the Hawks. Honestly, there isn't much we can do about this.
  9. Bryan Colangelo, Joe Dumars and John Paxson are three GM's I consider much better than Jerry West. Edit: At this point in time, at least. Of course, Jerry West has a better history than those three. But presently, I'd rather have those three GM's helming my team than West.
  10. Quote: let me know when the Hawks can beat Miami,Dallas and Chicago then we may have something. We beat Detroit, Cleveland, Phoenix, Houston and Washington. We manhandled Orlando, who were early season contenders, and got a couple of wins against Toronto, who lead the Atlantic division. Do they count? With W's against many of the league's elite, I'm pretty sure we do have that something. We just need consistency. And a better coach.
  11. Who are these "chicken ****" fans you're referring to? I look on these boards and I see plenty of people calling out BK and his crew. I also see a few defend some of BK's moves, but for the most part I see a lot of BK hate. So who are these "chicken ****" fans?
  12. Quote: Doesn't Ivey do the same and wouldn't a Pg prospect like Ridnour do the same? AJ > Ivey. And Ivey is more or less an irrelevant player for the Hawks. AJ will play a larger role than Ivey could ever dream of (hopefully). And of course anyone would have preferred Ridnour over AJ. But at this point, Ridnour is irrelevant to this conversation, because he is not with us. Quote: & if he looks like the version of AJ throughout the rest of his career we don't. W You're delving into the realm of "what if?" here, as I did earlier. Of course its hard to know what we can expect from a journeyman like AJ. But if he gets the minutes like he did in Indiana -- and his first season in Sac. --, then I fully expect AJ to produce similar numbers.
  13. Quote: Quote: As much as Diesel gets on my nerves from time to time, at least he is somewhat able to see positives when they happen, unlike you, the most negative poster on this board. Please, enlighten me. Tell me specifically, what the positive for this franchise is regarding this deal. Weigh it against the negatives. Do it. I dare you. You couldn't spit shine this deal as good. Scroll up, it's right there in print. 1.) He's a vet. He might lend a steady hand for the kids on this team. 2.) He keeps Salim off the floor and limits Speedy's minutes. 3.) If he turns out to be the Indiana Pacer version of AJ, then we obviouly benefit. And so what if he managed only 3.8 ppg? I'm pleasantly surprised he managed that much, considering he plays for a Mavs team neck deep in depth.
  14. I'm not sure if Guitar Hero II is available for rent (I wouldn't know, havent stepped inside a Blockbuster in awhile), but if it is, make it a point to rent it! This game is crazy fun and addictive. Awesome party game. It's especially a blast if you can somehow get your hands on a guitar controller. Planning on buying this game in the future. It's $99 (including guitar controller), so I might wait, since I don't have the cash to splurge. But once I do, its on! For the PS2, of course.

    Hawk vs Suns

Best part was Chillz taking over the 3rd quarter. Stanford was just dunking the ball left and right, draining threes and whatnot. He did make another boneheaded foul towards the end of the game, but thankfully it didn't matter. And Rathbun mentioned Marvin making how many FT's in a row? something like 30+? Absolutely delicious.
  16. This kid does sound like a jilted lover. It's not really the Hawks he hates; it's the fact that his man-crush for JJ was betrayed when he left the Suns! It all makes sense now. Phx_Suns, I recommend therapy for this sort of thing.

    Pheonix troll

I hate feeding trolls, but I gotta do this. Quote: And once again it was not that I was happy about Marvin, Joe, or Speedy getting injured. I was happy because I thought that this would ensure that you guys might not get too good too fast. But looking back on things I was wrong because its not the injuries that did you guys in, but it was the lack direction from Woodson and BK. Here's what you said when Marvin got injured: Quote: *Pumps fist* Yeah! Hellz yeah! And here's what you said when Speedy gets injured. Quote: 1-Fist Pump 2-Point to God 3-Thump Chest Repeat and Cycle Nice. Giving god props that a player gets injured? What religion do you practice? What your comments accomplished was the complete derailment of those threads. You BAITED posters into falling in your obvious trap. You completely turned those threads upside down and turned it into a [censored]-fest. Troll manuveur if I've ever seen one. In your (pitiful) defense, you said you would never wish injury to any one player. Yet, you openly celebrate it. And when confronted, you tried to reason with us by saying you were happy because it increased the Suns prospects of getting the #4 or 5 pick? Are you serious? What was so funny was when you tried to rationalize your victory. No matter how you look at it, I really can't see a good reason to go to another team's board, and OPENLY celebrate injury to a team's personnel. That's asking for trouble. All it does is brew feelings of contempt and hate. And yet, here you are, an obvious supporter of the Suns, coming to a Hawks thread and detaching it with your obvious bait of an injury celebration. Not to mention the fact that you actually started a thread celebrating the Hawks continued ineffectiveness: Quote: Only the Atlanta Hawks could lose like that! ONLY the Hawks! I love this team. LOL. 4th pick of the draft here we come! Go Hawks! *eyeroll* What I found funny was when another Suns fan came here and told you to "stop being a dipshit." Read: Quote: phx_suns, Let's not be a dipshit and rub this sh!t in other teams' fans' faces. You're a troll. Plain and simple. You could put up your paper thin defense and say bs like, "Hey guys, I actually support your team. I just want them to suck cuz I want a high pick! I'm gonna support this team next year! Scout's honor!" Once you get that pick, you won't think anything of the Hawks, so stop with the BS about you supporting the Hawks past this year. You think Chicago Bulls fans are going to continue following the Knicks hardcore after they get their pick? I doubt it. I fully support banning this troll, because the child doesn't really add anything constructive to any element of Hawks discussion. He just baits, baits, baits.
  18. I don't really remember this video, since I was only like 5 or 6 when Dominque and crew were dominating, but watching this video for the first time, I must say... it's the greatest video of all time. They should make that explosion sound everytime the Hawks make a basket.
  19. As long as we're throwing names in the coaching hat, how about Steve Smith? Let's face facts, no experienced coach will come onboard with the ownership situation as it is (as many have previously stated), so why not go with someone who will (probably) come as cheap -- mayber cheaper -- as Woody? Steve Smith comes off very knowledgeable during Hawks broadcasts, and would probably command immediate respect from the players due to his accomplishments. Plus, he has history here and seems to genuinely care for the Hawks. Yeah, I don't think Smith has any real coaching experience, but listening to him talk it sounds like he has a real grasp of what it would take. But hey, if not a head coaching job, at least an assistant job. Seems like he would make a pretty decent coach.
  20. Yeah, but Clooney needs redemption after making B&R. "Ice to meet you!"
  21. Dempsey would have been good, as would Clooney, but the other actors... no. They're good, but they don't look the part. When casting the part of a comic superhero, I think its important that the guy you're casting resembles the superhero. Bale, Damon and the Rock look nothing like Tony Starks. It's like casting Mark Wahlberg for Spider-Man. Can you imagine that? I can't. My prefences for Iron Man: 1. Julian McMahon 2. Gary Oldman 3. Alec Baldwin / Clooney
  22. Holy crap, Tom Selleck. I never thought of that, but that would have been perfect!
  23. I'm in. Team name is Altitude. I was the champ in my yahoo league last year, so hopefully I can take the Hawksquawk crown!
  24. ... in the new Iron Man movie. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30225 Personally, I think this is inspired casting. I always wanted Julian McMahon (the dude from Nip/Tuck) to play Iron Man, but this is equally awesome. I'm now officially pumped. Discuss.
