  1. Quote: You're the first person i've come in contact with who actually owns a ps3. Tell me about it. I don't know anyone who owns a PS3, which is so weird considering every soul on this planet owns, or used to own, a PS2. Pretty lonely out here... but once I told some people about my purchase, they were really excited and curious to see it. Some of them loved the look and feel of the system, and a lot of them were amazed how good Uncharted looked.
  2. Don't own a Wii, but have messed with one a few times. Thought it was fun, and was thinking about getting one until I realized the pitiful lack of software support for it. Besides Mario, I don't see anything worth buying for the Wii. I'm doubly curious as to why there isn't a lot of FPS (First-person shooters) on the Wii. The Wiimote and nunchucks are tailor-made for such games, and I'm surprised at the lack of quality FPS games for it. I did pick up a PS3 from Amazon a week ago on the basis of its formidable 2008 lineup of games. Love the purchase, and Call of Duty 4 is keeping me busy. I just hope most of its stellar looking '08 titles live up to their billing. Did think about getting an Xbox360, but with the plethora of reports concerning hardware malfunctions and its uncomfortable controllers(imo), plus the familiarity I had with Sony consoles made me decide on a PS3 -- free online play didn't hurt either.
  3. I sincerely hope the money we saved not signing Andruw goes towards a contract for Tex. I want Tex to be a Brave for another 5 or so years.
  4. Hawks had no business winning this after blowing it in the second half, but... JJ is freaking clutch. And Woody should have inserted Mario West to gaurd Marko Jaric during the Timerberwolves last possession.
  5. Yeah, and with contract extensions coming up for Smith, Childress, Marvin, and Salim, Hawks management have a lot of decisions to make. Do they extend some players, say Smith and Marvin, and hope for the best? Or do you make a gutsy move and trade your tantalizing, but young and inexperienced players for a veteran star or superstar? Gasol is unhappy and might be looking for a way out. Kobe is involved in trade talks every waking hour. Marion might be looking for a way out too. The right package might catapult Amare into Atlanta, who knows? We could be next year's Boston Celtics if we made some bold moves and hired a new coach. New players, new identity, new coach.
  6. Pull a Boston and trade your young players for a superstar (Hello? Kobe? Is Amare still available?), and then sign a good veteran player in the offseason to compliment your new dynamic duo (dunno who's available. Just sign whatever is best out there). If the package Boston sent nets them KG, then I'm positive we can net our own superstar. JJ is our Paul Pierce, and we need to get this guy some help. Oh, and fire Woody.
  7. Sam immediately knew this kid was a goof and a moron when he flubbed the "plays for the Lakers" comment and laughed it off. Then for him to go about and ask him that lame rapper question and say all the alien comments, Sam just didn't take the interview and the kid seriously anymore (if he ever did). I felt annoyed for Sam having to deal with this nut, and I sincerely hope the kid isn't studying in journalism or is already in journalism.

    Observations

Quote: Hollins has some taunting technicals in his future. Did anyone else see him taunting Horford after every basket he made? Smitty mentioned that Hollins played on the UCLA team that got dismantled in the Finals by Horford's Gators. Kid is probably still a bit sore about that game.
  10. No to Glavine. The guy is nearing the end of his career (if he hasn't already reached it), and Mets fan couldn't wait to boot his butt out of town. Frank Wren would do a whole lot better by spending that money on someone like Silva and not Glavine. Yes, the nostalgic factor would be fantastic, but we need decent starting pitching, not washed up, remember-the-good-old-days pitchers like Glavine. Of course, I won't discount the possibilty that Glavine will regain his form if he pitchers down here, but we already have an old guy in our rotation in Smoltz - who is also near retirement - so we need to be thinking long-term here, not short-term. Adding Glavine would only create 2 holes in our rotation when both of them leave in the very near future.
  11. I don't own Guitar Hero 3 (have Guitar Hero 2 though), and I stumbled upon this little video... http://youtube.com/watch?v=-9ao_vOsZkg Some college kid dominates the hardest song in the game on expert. I was impressed, to say the least.
  12. Wow, didn't realize Eddie Jones and Juwan Howard were playing for the Mavs. I feel old just watching them. Oh, and give Smith that extension!
  13. Terence Moore proposes that we get Ken Griffey just about every off-season. Would be nice, but its a pipe dream imo.
  14. Theres a J-Smoove billboard on Delk Road, right across from a Laser Tag place.
  15. Quote: So what do the Braves do to get a #3 pitcher? Do we trade Edgar? What if we can get a legit #2 by trading Yunel? Thoughts? If it means trading Yunel to get a great pitcher back, I'd do it in a heartbeat. We still have another great SS prospect in Lillibridge, and we can bring him up next year while Renteria plays out the rest of his time here. Granted, Yunel showed he can play ball, and it would be extremely disappointing if Lillibridge can't make the transition from minors to majors as well as Yunel did, but starting pitching was too much of a problem for this team this year. I have faith in JS to pull through this offseason. He addressed the bullpen issues last year with some strong additions, and I'm confident he'll bring in some decent starting pitching to pitch behind Smoltz/Huddy (and in front of James, Reyes/minor-leaguer/journeyman...).
  16. Quote: Quote: No one is worth 1/3 of a teams salary in the sport of baseball. [/indent] The Rangers disagrees. Of course, "that" hardly worked out for them. Besides, JS may make a very unprecendented move (for him at least) and offer a gargantuan contract to Tex, who is probably going to get +$20 mil in the free agent market.
  17. I take great satisfaction in the Mets historic demise. Mets fans were swimming in unfounded arrogance, claiming they were robbed of a World Series berth last year and that this year they would cruise to the World Series with little to no opposition. I feel no pity or remorse for the Mets or their fans.
  18. Nice article. It's very refreshing to see someone actually sit down, evaluate our talent, and see the potential for success from this team, rather than just write a snide little remark like, "It's the Hawks, who cares?"
  19. Getting swept by the Mets. Yeah... I'd say it's over. Oh well, there's always next year.
  20. Supposedly he complained about being used in non-saving situations (like last night's disaster). Link I'm guessing Dotel (when he comes back) or Soriano slides into the closer role. Maybe Moylan, but he's been looking inconsistent as of late.
  21. Quote: Maybe they will be able to draft Petrino's boy, Brian Brohm next year. I don't follow college football all that much, but I have heard some good things about Brohm's ability. And looking at his numbers, they seem very admirable. Any idea where he's projected to go in the draft?
  22. Quote: Hell's Kitchen is like McDonald's. Total garbage but it tastes good going down. Not a single cook on HK could have ever been on TC. Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares is a very good show. I hope the tone doesn't change too much with the American version that is coming soon. Bourdain's show on the travel channel is very cool, too. Hell's Kitchen is hilarious. I'm not sure how anyone can take such scathing verbal abuse while they're working, but hey, it makes for entertaining television. "You're a F***ing donut!"
  23. bullpen nearly blows it again. Thank god they didn't. With 2 horrible pitchers and 1 serviceable pitcher going for the Phillies series, I'm hoping we can somehow squeak out 2 wins. Sweeping the Filthies would be an absolute godsend if it happened.
  24. Agreed. Moylan should be seriously considered for a set-up or closer role at this point. He just goes in and does a fantastic job. Easily our best relief pitcher. Not sure what's up with Soriano. Whatever it is, I just hope he remedies it asap, cuz its depressing to see someone who was so dominant become this unreliable. And I really wish the Phillies would go away. I feel incredibly uneasy that we keep playing musical chairs with the Phillies in the NL Easy standings.
