  1. 20 blown saves?? Didn't realize it was that much. God... if we managed to even save half those blown saves, we'd be 55-40, rather than 45-50.
  2. Poo.... a couple weeks ago in my fantasy league, someone had offered me Chipper for Ivan Rodriguez. This was before Chipper became God, when he was just a mere mortal, so I declined. I'm hitting myself over the head now because McCann was still on the waiver wire back then, free to be picked up by anyone, so I could have just swooped in and nabbed McCann while trading for Chipper.
  3. Quote: Quote: No, the Mets aren't that great. Didn't the AL spank them pretty bad aswell? [/indent] Not just spank my friend... rape. The AL raped the Mets. I'm going to enjoy watching Detroit/Boston/Chicago rip apart the Mets in the World Series.
  4. Yeah, I'd reserve judgement on Shelden. The summer league team is clearly Marvin's; finally getting his chance to strut his stuff. Shelden will hopefully get his once the real season starts.
  5. Couple things stood out to me: In the 1st half Marvin Williams took advantage of his quickness and athleticism to drive the ball into the paint on every occasion drawing fouls and scoring. He was also aggressive defensively. Drove the ball into the paint on EVERY occasion? Thats pretty awesome imo. Also, good to hear that small blurb about his defense. In the 2nd half he began the same way but after the second flagrant foul he seemed to get passive, until he was called to the bench and spoken to by the Hawks staff. When reinserted to the game he returned to his aggressive mindset. Good to hear the coaching staff soothing Marvin's nerves down, and helping him refocus his attention on the game. Kids like Marvin need that. Marvin had trouble all night when asked to play power forward as he was overpowered, but he played very well as a small forward. Not too bothered by this, as a lot of us saw him as a small forward anyways. But if Marvin can keep up this style of play throughout SL, preseason, and into the infancy periods of the new season, then rejoice. Smith and Marvin would make a pretty neat forward tandem(Shelden prolly starts on the bench for a little while).
  6. Wie is cute, and thats all i've got to say about that. She is only 16, I believe. Sorenstam may end up with a better career, but Wie might be able to match it.
  7. I think in order to right our bullpen, three things needed to be done: 1.) Get rid of Remlinger(which we did) (2.) Get rid of Reitsma(he's gonna be on the dl for a long time) (3.) and get rid of Jorge. If this triumvirant is complete, then I think our bullpen will be just fine. I say trade Jorge for a low Class A prospect. Or a 31 year old career AAA minor leaguer. Or something. Anything. Just get rid of him. As for our closer situation, why not try out Kevin Barry? Hes looked pretty good thus far. Maybe he can be our Papelbon. Also, does anyone know when Phil Stockman's coming back? I liked what I saw from him too. Next year's pitching should be better anyhow, with Boyer and Hampton coming back, and Chuckie James, Barry, Stockman, etc. more experienced.
  8. Nothing like another pro-Belkin ruling to deflate that feel-good feeling the Hawks were accumulating...
  9. Very interesting, but uhm... how do you REALLY feel, Walter?
  10. If Nene can get 6yrs/$60 mil., then Ben Wallace will easily get the max. Question is, who is willing to pay him that much: Chicago or Detroit? or maybe Atlanta???
  11. This probably sets up a KMart deal. Where he goes, no idea. Hopefully it ain't us. But Nene for $60 mil is a bit of a reach. He's coming off of major surgery, and hes relatively unproven. Big risk...
  12. uh, was that last part directed towards me, TexasPete?
  13. Orlando didn't make the playoffs, but they played much better after Francis was gone. In fact, they had an 8 game winning streak towards the end of the year - and that streak included wins over San Antonio, Detroit, Miami and Dallas - that nearly catapulted them into the playoffs. I don't think it's coincidence that they played exceptionally well after Francis was gone. Francis brings nice stats, but you gotta look past that. You gotta look at other factors: does he bring leadership? Does he have an attitude problem? Does he have good character? Is he a good team player? Is he just a stat stuffer?
  14. But the guy also thinks hes the second coming of a young Allen Iverson. According to Toronto peeps, he often took ill-advised shots in the waning seconds of close, tight games, and many times they wouldn't go in. Yeah, he shoots a high %, but I'm guessing he couldn't make them when it counted the most. Raptor fans want him out. But browsing through this thin free agent market... I guess he'd be the only decent option out there. But he'll probably become the new Hawksquawk pinata after a few weeks, blowing close games because he refused to pass the ball to Joe Johnson...
  15. What a disgusting rumor. Mihm is the only player I like in that trade. Throw in Bynum and their first next year, then we shall talk.
  16. I prefer scenario 2. Marquis Daniels and Devin Harris? Sign me up.
  17. Quote: "Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade" – Bill Simmons on the Mavs pick. *applause*

    TRADE

Wow, Mil came out a winner in this one. A frontcourt of Andrew Bogut and Charlie V.? Could be pretty lethal in a few short years. TJ Ford is a nice player, and he could be the Robin to Bosh's Batman. But Toronto should have kept Charlie for at least another year... Andrea is an unproven commodity, and now there's added pressure for him to produce right out of the gate. He better hope he can at least match Charlie V's rookie numbers.
  19. The Rudy Gay one had me rofl. Rudy Gay would have gotten praise if he was picked anywhere in the top 10, but if he was selected by Atlanta, they would have dogged the hell out of him -- and us.

    2007 NBA Draft

*Orgasms* If that movie has the patented, awesome transforming sound from the 80's cartoons, it will be the single greatest piece of film cinema the world will ever witness.
  21. I read about this the other day. Pretty cool if you ask me. I think only 10% of the population -- not sure if its 10% of the world or just the United States alone -- have this rare occurance.
  22. Pat Summit is a god amongst men... and women. I would love to see what she can do with a professional basketball team.
