  1. I say we win. Something unpredictable. But when we shoot this well, it won't matter how smart we play.
  2. A PG has no role on this team because we don't have an offense. Bibby was hardly a PG but a good 3-point shooter. With players as selfish as Jamal, as passive as Joe, as dumb as Josh, as horrible as Marvin, you might as well not even try. I know that's very cynical and I'm normally not that way, but it's getting ridiculous.
  3. Where did you hear that? Not that I'm doubting, I just haven't heard that.
  4. We're stuck with JJ. That's why we need to build players around him so his contract isn't as big of an albatross as it already is. Rashard Lewis' contract wasn't as big of a deal when they got Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, and Hedo Turkoglu. The only way we trade JJ is for somebody equally as poor (down the road in his contract) worth about the same amount at a position where we need it more. All this assumes that JJ doesn't blow up into a 24 PPG player... but at that point we might want to keep him.
  5. I think Sekou's interview was very interesting. He knows the Hawks a LOT better than anybody in the national media as he was there during the formation of "the core." Now that he's not working with the AJC and doesn't have to kiss *ss to get interviews, he's speaking his mind. For him to say that he doesn't think it's Larry Drew and that the core won't listen to anybody speaks volumes. Let's be honest: these players are adults. They don't have to listen to anybody if they don't have to. Granted, if you get a guy that commands respect like Thibadeau it might be different, but the answer at this point is not to get rid of Larry Drew because this team is too stubborn. They think they know everything and our chemistry is a freaking joke. For the Woody defenders, the only difference between this year and last year is JSmoove is very confident in his jumpshot because of the work he put in. That has translated in lack of rebounding and less offensive efficiency Sekou says blow the team up (or at least a couple parts). He continues to note Josh Smith and Marvin Williams first. I agree. Let's see how LD does when he's not coaching a bunch of stubborn five year olds.
  6. Well done, Dragitoff. I'd love that if it happens, but it involves having to work hard to make all the pieces work. I don't know if Rick Sund has the go-getter attitude to revamp this squad to those lengths. I normally bash these attempts at crazy deals, but this actually helps all teams involved. If we want to get rid of Joe, that's the only way it's gonna happen unless we take another albatross contract in place of his.
  7. The thing that infuriated me with Woodson is that we felt like he was in his own little world not knowing what was wrong with the team. He was fired. When we heard about Drew's new offense and his (correct) analysis of the team's weaknesses, many people including myself were excited about the hire thinking it had to be better than Woodson. Unfortunately, LD doesn't have the balls to make big changes even though he knows they need to be made. I gotta think ownership is in on this one too because he's been too good at diagnosing the issues, yet we never see a difference in the game-time execution.
  8. I think the reason that Joe was re-signed was because the ASG doesn't plan on owning the team long-term. While Joe is not worth 20+ mill/year over six years, our team would be horrible without him. If I'm understanding things correctly, we would have only had about 7 million to invest in an alternate SG if he left. My point is that they assumed that the first couple years of Joe's contract (which are reasonable) were what they're worried about, not the 25 mill at year 6. Signing Drew was par for the course, as we know. This being said, I am not anti-LD until he has a complete season minimum.
  9. You just need to take a hint. If you're going to post your opinion (especially if it's not mainstream), back it up with facts. It's not about bothering you, it's about making Hawksquawk a good place for Hawks fans, and you aren't contributing by your blanket nonsensical statements. /rant.
  10. Lord knows the ASG would... drooling over those expirings. This is so difficult. Horford and Joe would be our only players left. I'd say... no. But I can't get mad at anyone who approves.
  11. We have only one PG on the roster... that's pretty risky even though I'd love to have Jefferson. Hawks get: C Al Jefferson PG Earl Watson Jazz get: SF Marvin Williams C Zaza Pachulia PG Jeff Teague and 2011 2nd Round Pick 2012 1st Round Pick Pipe dream??
  12. No need to copy your same post and put it into another thread. Sessions has played well this year (19 PER), and he's only 24 years old so it's not near as accurate to pull old data. Combining Sessions' good contract with Zaza's bad one doesn't make Sessions bad. And compare it to somebody who's a bargain. Well done.
  13. Just saw that guys account... definitely does not look legit. Sorry for the false alarm (probably). Dolfan, delete this tread please!
  14. Sessions is better than Teague. Harris is cheaper than Evans. They're both pretty worthless. Sign me up! Just don't see why Cleveland does this. One has to think getting 4 million off the books can bring back SOME value when Sessions is one of the guys. ESPN NBA Trade Machine has us at +11 after the trade. That's a pretty good sign that we're fleecing them.
  15. Sorry for being rude. The issue I have is that everybody on Hawksquawk knows that there is no way Rick Sund is going to make all of those trades within the next 46 hours. So while it works under league rules and is financially viable, it's pointless posting something like that because that's not how our GM (or any GM whose team is 34-21) operates.
  16. Having the creativity of Rick Sund is the point. Nothing suggests that we will blow up this team apart from a couple guys. With that in mind, we are trying to put together realistic scenarios that meet our needs. This isn't a video game.
  17. I like this deal a lot. It's very low risk and we are definitely improving our ball club. My guess is the ASG does this move and that's it. I'll be satisfied, but still acknowledging that we're a 2nd round exit just like before.
  18. Here lies the problem: Jamal will yield us the greatest value and his value can help us add to our roster without hurting our starting lineup. HOWEVER, if we do trade Jamal for somebody else, we will be in the luxury tax next year unless we make other serious adjustments. While I did vote Jamal, I think the only way we will be able to make a big difference on our team is if we trade Smoove and try to address two needs at once. --- Marvin won't yield us anything. Bibby won't yield us anything. Jamal could yield us something, but ASG won't deal him. That leaves Smoove.
  19. You gotta give value to get value. While Smoove is a really solid player, I think we'll play as a better team without his inconsistency, immaturity, etc. To yield Favors (a legit prospect at a place of need) as well as a bonafide PG, I think you take the risk. I don't know how else we are going to be able to make a contender-like move without going into the luxury tax (which I don't think we'll ever do with ASG)
  20. Most realistic idea (for Harris) I've seen so far is something along the lines of the following: Harris/Favors for Smoove/Teague (1st maybe) 1) We don't go into luxury tax. I refuse to believe that we'll go into the luxury tax as long as ASG are the owners. That means Jamal stays a Hawk. 2) Get a legit PG as well as somebody to fill in for Smoove. While I'm reticent about putting Favors in full time, I think the benefits of the other elements of the deal are worth it.
  21. Yep. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/27608740
  22. Nets canceled practice amid trade rumors. Somebody is gonna get moved today.
  23. You don't think Teague being the backup PG, 10 million expiring, and a 1st round pick is enough?
