Huge SAP guy here, always has been always will be. No nonsense lunch pail Paul.

He was good and embraced that roll. I remember when Bob had a nickname for Childress, something to do with hustling and being in the right place at the right time. JC hated it, he wanted to be more and went overseas. Millsap was 100% about team ball and did very well for himself because of that.

  2. I went with Millsap. Most of my basketball talk is from people who listen to the radio, and somehow thought he was the star player so they’d hate on him. You can’t win with Millsap as your best player! Well he shouldn’t be talked up like that.

He was instrumental to so many things we did with Bud. DMC too, but Sap dropped (40?) in that game at Boston the year after DMC left. He also was the main cog in the 8th seed Hawks almost beating the Pacers. I loved his professionalism and work ethic.

  3. A few more GT players being left out who made it to the nba - most notably, Thaddeus Young, who has carved out a really nice career for himself. Javaris Crittenton was a big recruit who flamed out in the NBA. We all remember Dion Glover and the Mario West experiment on the Hawks. Josh Okogie has bounced around but he has had his moments.

I like these commentators. Channing Frye shtick is corny but I don't hate it, he's still a good commentator. Having to listen to two cornballs our first game was rough however.

When I think of Channing Frye I think of my player mode in NBA 2K15 or so. I wondered how he got the gig to be important enough to lecture my player so I always disrespected whatever he said.

And what’s going through Siakam’s head? He doesn’t wanna play in Atlanta, where Trae is the purest point guard.. isn’t that a PF/X’s dream as far as unleashing their games even more?

That’s like a Deandre Hopkins in the NFL not wanting to play with Patrick Mahomie!

If he thinks he is better than Trae, which could be in his mind, maybe he doesn’t want to play second fiddle knowing it won’t be his team.

Why does Siakam want to stay in Toronto? They literally have 2 months of warm weather. Rest of the year is chilli or freezing.

Not vouching for Toronto by any means, but I spent some time working in Ann Arbor, MI and Toronto is only 3-4 hours from there (and that isn’t going directly north). It isn’t as deep into Canada as I originally imagined. I’ve heard good things about the city from people that visited, so it is probably a negotiation tactic but just my .02 on Toronto.

    I agree.

The main thing I'd be betting on is players (especially star players) that don't want to flat out say they don't want to play for a city and/or still want max money usually find weird ways to get out of that city and then everything gets back to normal or they show what they are capable of once they've gotten their wishes.

McGrady on the raptors verses McGrady on the Magics and beyond after getting out of Vince shadows was a completely different player.

James Harden after being a 6 man on the Thunder then getting traded to Houston.

James Harden again being fat in Houston 😆 just to get back to normal once traded.

Bad examples I know🤣 but I'm drawing blanks right now. The point is that it happens.

Spotlights on players are now brighter than ever thanks to social media so I'm sure there were plenty occasions that went under the main stream radar but have done similar or odd things to get out of a city.

JC is probably our best current example because he knows and even admits he could've gave us more than what occured after all the trade rumors but he wanted to be somewhere he was wanted. All players have their personal reasons for their actions.

In Zion's case he knows he can't do what he's done so far here (if he's traded) and still have a career after his contract is up. Especially not a worthwhile one.

There is always that second chance factor that you are alluding to. For him it is really just physical and conditioning, the guy plays at a high level when he is on the court.

I don’t think he’s show much of a commitment to improve these in NO, but if we moved forward on him, I assume there would be some conversations had on that front.

Thanks @AHF for having my back!  It has truly been years since I've posted here and I'm sure many of my posts probably didn't age well.  I was just thinking of how I was in the Mo Bamba camp before that draft because a 7' shot-blocking center with that build that could shoot 3's had to be a can't miss prospect right?  Ouch.

I remember the name too! You went from dragging to running, so I guess things have changed lol.

Lol I am happy. We got Dejounte on a steal. But we don’t need to do this credit stuff lol. Literally when he posted it I even said Jake already said this… so we don’t need to go down this path of him taking credit

Take it or leave it, that’s all I can say. I appreciate whatever they share. A lot of this is just passing on info from whoever it comes from. I know I don’t have the means to duplicate what I can find in these threads lol.

Going to say this: I have to do two back procedures every year. I am going in tomorrow for the first one of this year. I will try to stay plugged in as much as I can while I recover from it. I'll be in bed for the next few days starting tomorrow but I will try to stick around. Just saying this now in case something happens over the weekend.

Best wishes to you @Sothron. Thanks for your insight as always.

KAT's numbers from last year are not that great. He has missed a lot of games too. He's one the worst defensive centers. And he has a massive contract. Things to consider here.

Sometimes a change of scenery can do a player good, but you are not wrong about these concerns.

  12. Such great news! I’ve been talking about these players signing big extensions and seeing their trade market non existent because of their salary. So in a worst case scenario where we flame out, he also gives him a chance to go almost anywhere because of his contract. Smart move all around for DJM, he’s set financially and also for stability in his young career.

@NBASupes If we get KAT our offense blows through the roof, but our defense takes a massive beating.

Does the front office feel confident that a team with Trae and KAT can win a chip?

I do think it depends on who we give up, but OO, Hunter and DJM are good defensive pieces. I also trust Snyder to make it work.

I always say late game defense and overall defense are two different beasts. Can you get a stop when it matters? CC has always been good at overall defense, but I’ve never thought in late game situations that they aren’t going to score on us because we have CC in the paint.

Picking your one and only destination is free agency. Dame chose to sign his last contract though. If he wanted to be able to pick his one and only destination, enter free agency.

Working the media so you get exactly what you want and the other party gets the shaft is not how contracts work.

Glad to see more of these posts popping up. I love the parity in todays NBA, but hate the players signing a long term extension and saying “hey, trade me here.”

To me, if you sign that long term extension you commit to making that team better. You don’t ask out when you couldn’t deliver.
