    Heat Check

A friend of mine who never even plays the lotto decided to get a scratch-off ticket and won $5.00 dollars now he wants to spend like $50 on lotto tickets. He thinks he's got the touch or something. When he told me for some reason heat check came out of my mouth. I just started laughing and he couldn't understand why it was so funny. I've got to stop watching basketball for awhile.
  2. Just looked at the espn schedule. Hawks have games on ESPN vs Suns and Spurs. I don't think these games were there before. Also looks like we have more games on nbatv as well.
  3. Hard isn't even the word for that part of the schedule. 17 games:Boston 3 times, Orlando twice, Cleveland twice, Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, Washingington may be good by then. I don't know who made that part of the schedule, but they had bad intentions. If we are still at the top by all star break, we are for real.
  4. I knew there would be words other people would think of. I probably would have added roleplayer or foul-prone on second thought and would apply it to Mo Evans. I don' t think he's passive though. The rest I agree on.
  5. Thought of a few words I hear in articles about players often and decided to see which ones posters would match with what players. Here we go. Leader Disciplined Aggressive Passive Malcontent Baller Clutch Wiley Stud Finesse Unfocused Bust Steal Polished Fluid Consistent Bruiser Playmaker Mike Bibby Joe Johnson Marvin Williams Josh Smith Al Horford Jeff Teague ZaZa Pachulia Jamal Crawford Mo Evans Randolph Morris Garrett Siler Mario West
  6. Yeah, I never look forward to the Texas triangle.
  7. With all the negativity going on around here I just needed to vent about my worst experience being a Hawks fan. Even when we were 13-69 I saw the silver lining so it never got to me when people laughed at the team, but last year they made me want to explode at one point. I live in LA now. Moved here last year because my woman needed to take care of her mom who lives here. She is here and her whole family lives here as well. Last year when the Hawks came to play the Lakers in LA there was a family gathering that night and I was the only Hawks fan in a house of about 13 lakers fans. I was feeling good because the Hawks were actually winning for the first time in awhile and I felt everyone needed to know the Hawks were an up and coming team as everyone had the view of the same old sorry Hawks. So the game plays itself out and the Hawks straight stink up the joint. I'm in the back bedroom by myself watching this fiasco and thinking: of all nights the Hawks could stink, they pick this one. I wanted everyone traded. My brother-in-law takes the time to stop by the room, peak his head in, snicker, and leave. Nothing else, he just laughed. I was so pissed. Luckily her family is pretty good peoples, so most people just said, sorry about your team, and left it at that. I have to say the Lakers fans are serious about their team so they understand passion about a team and didn't rub it in. I was a hater at that moment, but still at the same time a supporter because my anger was in wanting the team to be better and show better. I understand where some posters come from with their comments and that they don't see a silver lining while others do but both are supporters.
  8. I think if Josh, Marv, and Al just naturally progress the team will give the top 3 a competitive second round matchup, but unless one takes a drastic step we still come up short.
  9. I think we'll have the fourth seed and win between 50-55 games. We'll play one of the big three in the second round and fare pretty well in the series. I don't think we can overcome the size of the other teams unless someone on the team becomes a true 1a along with joe johnson. Against the big 3 we have the advantage with Joe Johnson against them all and really that's it. Maybe Josh against Varejao. Bibby, Nelson, Mo Williams, Rondo Joe, Delonte West, Ray Allen, Pietrus Marvin, Vince, Paul Pierce, Lebron Josh, Garnett, Varejao, Lewis Horford, Howard, Perkins, Shaq Damn, now that I've typed this out it looks even worse than I thought, lol. Unless someone steps up in a major way, we will have to platoon it ala the 2004 pistons.
  10. He signs the QO., is welcomed back to the team with open arms, THEN WE TRADE HIS *ss before the deadline for something to help us instead of letting him walk.
  11. and Mo Evans and Mario West. That's a solid backcourt rotation with flexibility to package a player if necessary before the deadline if we need(which we probably will) front court help. Unfortunately noone will be on an expiring contract other than Joe, and we're not trading him. Josh Smith/ Horford/ Solo. Who's left to upgrade over Marvin? Probably noone so we should keep him. We need Marvin and two bigs, me thinks, and an upgrade over Randolph...maybe Magloire.
  12. John Hollinger ranks the NBA franches, but the Hawks is on insider. Can someone please post this? http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/20...eRankings-Hawks
  13. I can see the tv from my toilet.
  14. ESPN/ABC's coverage of basketball in general is the worst. NBATV and TNT are far more enjoyable. The only person I truly care to watch is Jalen Rose. It took me years to get used to basketball on ABC after it left NBC. I hated it at first, now I'm just used to it.
  15. This team has gotten better under Woodson every year but I see alot of Mike Brown and Cleveland in what we have here in Atlanta. Mike Brown's offense was iso Lebron for so many years that Cleveland falls into it as a bad habit like we are seeing against Orlando. As long is their is no change at the top, they will do it and the same goes for our Hawks. Even if he brought in an "offensive coordinator", our offense has been bad for so long the players will fall into as a bad habit when things get tough.
  16. UNC would have..... I don't give a damn. Marvin would have.....gotten better and gone #4 in the 2008 draft to his home town team that is no longer there. Oh the irony. Hawks would have.... picked either Deron or Chris. We still would have picked Shelden because he would have fell to us no matter where we picked. The only thing we would be missing is Horford and that pick probably would have went to Phoenix that year. The money we spent on Bibby probably would have been spent on a big instead, but there's no telling who that player would be. Hopefully he would have been worthwhile. or the 08 pick would have got us one of the lopez brothers. Getting paul or deron means no Marvin and Horford. Paul/Deron +Unknown big vs. Marvin and Horford. I would say we would be better because Paul alone is almost more of a difference maker than Marvin and Horford right now. We start 05 with Joe, Paul if we pick him(Deron didn't start his rookie year), and Al Harrington as our main cogs. With ZaZa and Josh finishing off the starting five. Harrington is resigned because no Marvin and either we continue with Zaza or find a big good enough to move him to the bench. 08 squad comparisons Paul Joe Harrington Smoove Pachulia or Bibby Joe Marvin Smoove Horford I think i like the first squad more but like previously said, we still don't make it past Cleveland. This offseason Paul costs more than Marvin but still not more than the previous Bibby years. Harringington is 10 mil. Damn, i can't save this so I'll have to finish later.
  17. I think this year the players need to set the goal for themselves. The last two seasons we've achieved the goals Woody set, but this year it seemed like the players quit once they met it. They wanted the 4th seed so they could have a game seven at home if necessary. To me, it looked like they played the Miami series so they could have a game seven at home when they could have beat them quicker. They got to the goal Woody set of getting to the 2nd round and once they got there, they quit. If the Hawks don't have a true leader in the locker room they at least need to lead themselves for once. Are they never going to compete for a title until Woody tells them they are allowed?
  18. When I watch Acie I wonder is Woodson coaching him to play like Bibby. He's seems like he could attack more but is forced to run that dumb *ss offense.
  19. Even if he passed out of the double quicker, who does he pass it to. Nobody else on the team can f***ing play.
  20. More of topic sh*t. Same thing happened where I work but it was a squirrel. He had him in his claws on a tree branch. I just felt sorry for the squirrel and when I approached, the bird dropped him, but the squirrel was frozen in fear and didn't move for like two minutes. I stood there until he did.
  21. Despite how bad we played and how good they played, we still had a chance in the 4th quarter. We had three straight stops, then we have Joe jack up a 3 with two players on him. Flip get blocked going for a layup by Jermaine O'neal which looked like a replay of an earlier play and Josh throwing a pass waaay over Joe's head on a fast break. Followed by two Haslem jumpers. That killed us. We are the better team. Damn, I'm fustrated as hell we don't always show how good we are.
  22. Watching sportscenter right now. Dwade scored 55 last night. Sportscaster says teammates thought something was wrong with him because he wasn't talking to anybody. He was that focused. If he comes to play Tuesday, we have to match.
  23. This should be really interesting how this plays out. Being a Giants fan I was torn when the Giants played New England at the end of last year when NE had the perfect record going. It ended up working out really well for the Giants. I'm torn on this game as well. One thing I'm sure of is that I don't want Miami leaving Phillips thinking they can win there. Knowing they have to win is one thing, but thinking they can is another. With that said I want Woody to play it by what Miami does. Dwade is a competitor in the mold of MJ and I can't see him not wanting to win this game as a way to send a message, but I could be proven wrong. Whether we play starters a bunch or the bench, we need to win this. As an aside during the abc games yesterday they discussed resting players. Jeff Van Gundy said he could see resting players if you have your position locked up early, say with 10 games to go, but going into the playoffs you want your players having a rhythm so this close to the postseason he doesn't believe in resting them. I would have to agree.
