  1. Agreed. The trick is to pair JJ with a guy like Bosh, not trade him. Actually, it is highly possible Bosh gets moved this summer. He is unrestricted in 2010 and if Toronto feels he's going to walk (highly likely), they'll want to get something for him, rather than lose him for nothing to UFA. Smoove and a future 1st (or Acie) would be nice for them. We then sign Bosh to an extension.
  2. If you're going to make a post about trading our best player, it's probably a good idea to come up with a trade that actually makes us better (i.e. to prove your point). You don't trade just to trade.
  3. I was going to make a similar post. This series has sucked.
  4. I think a healthy Marvin would have really helped us in this series. Not sure how these games have "shown that we don't need him"
  5. I slightly prefer Bosh, but I'd do that deal too.
  6. Sounds like a good time to me!!! haha jk (but seriously dude, most NBA players are highly competitive and actually do want to win very, very badly. Of course there are always exceptions: Tim Thomas, Ricky Davis, Zach Randolph, etc. I don't think we have any of those types tho.).
  7. That hawk was just doing him!!
  8. Cheering is one thing, playing is another. Ive had back problems in my life.... if you overdo it, you're screwed. I think the training staff and doctors are being very careful with Marvin.
  9. Diesel, I know you keep saying this to "win" your epic online arguments, but it's just not true. He never accepted that deal. If he would have, he would be a Hawk today. He wanted more, and he got more in Greece.
  10. 2 things: 1. Flip did force those layups near the end (without anyone around to crash the boards). We really should have Smoove, Marv or Joe finishing at the rim in traffic (and really, this is where we do miss Chilly quite a bit). 2. It's clear Marv is still dealing with that back issue (back injuries dont go away quickly). He actually is playing quite well when he's in, and I think he would be in late in the game, if he could.
  11. That's just not true. Hawks were willing to give him that (5-mill or so). He wanted more and was able to get more in Greece.
  12. Congrats to Krish! I got 2nd last year and 3rd this year. I think next year is finally the year for Big Al!
  13. I'd roll with that and re-sign Flip.
  14. Danny Green would be dope. But i think he'll be gone.
  15. I voted Hinrich as well. I just think that a) dude has A LOT of good basketball left in him and b) he's one of the top defensive PGs while also being a decent shooter. I dont think he got a fair shake in Chicago, and I could very well see him going on to play quite well for a different team. He's definitely the guy i'd like to see us go after. Id also be interested in Lawson and Maynor through the draft, as well as Felton as a 2nd choice after Hinrich. I wouldnt be "mad" at Jarret Jack but am still not completely sold on him. For me, an ideal offseason would see Hinrich and Bosh become ATL players (losing Smith and maybe Acie/Speedy). Hinrich -- Joe -- Marvin -- Horford -- Bosh THAT's a complete team IMO.
  16. Im a huge Kansas fan, and Cole will be a very solid nba player. He's athletic enough, has long arms, and seems to be in the right position 90% of the time (which is why he gets so many boards and blocks). That said, if he does come out this year (which I think he should), he won't last till our pick. I DO think a decent pg should be there tho, mainly Lawson or Maynor (but Lawson probably has played his way into the late lottery).
  17. IMHO, you replace Smoove with Bosh and we are closer to the Orlandos and Boston than the Miamis and Phillys
  18. Some of those posts are a bit "unprofessional" if you ask me. Dude is getting paid over 5-mill... he doesnt need to be saying some of that stuff on a public forum (i.e. calling his employers "cheap")
  19. I seriously am curious how some of yall can even begin to argue that Smoove is on Bosh's level. It would be one thing if Bosh were older, but dude is 25. We'd be getting him for the prime of his career.
  20. Ive been all over the globe the last little while... normally only watch the Hawks game online or right as its starting. I never have time to watch Hawks Live. Glad to hear they are re-airing though. It looks really interesting... I always like seeing the behind-the-scenes dynamics as they can say a lot about the team and its various players. Ill be looking out for a rerun.
  21. Im just wondering if anyone either 1) saw this or 2) knows where we can see this. From Sekou's blog on Sunday: http://blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2009/03/29/legi...fid=blogs_hawks
  22. OK, so to get Shaq (a 1-year rental of Shaq), we'd have to trade for him. Let's see a trade where we send out enough cash and assets to make it happen... and then how that situates us for the summer of 2010 (you have a valid point that trying to have a ton of cap room in 2010 is a legit strategy). My thing is, I don't think you can come up with a scenario where we are better off doing that. For instance, you say "where we have a team FAs would want to play for". But, in your scenario, we gut our team to get Shaq, who has said he will retire after this contract. I just don't see how gutting our team for a 1-year rental of Shaq does anything for our prospects in the summer of 2010 (when our team would be Shaqless). We would have cash, but we would likely suck.
  23. Umm Bosh is 25, averages 20/10 with a FG% of around .500 and FT% of around .800. Shaq is 37 and very much on the downside of his career (dont get me wrong, he's still good... but he clearly is deteriorating). I just think a Bosh/Horf tandem is better than a Smoove/Horf one.
  24. Aldrich would be a fantastic big for us to get. Unfortunately, I tihnk he has played his way into the lottery (if he does come out this year). As far as a forward goes, I would also be OK with TWill from Louisville.
