Yall got Sheed all wrong! His teammates love playing with him, and that's the true sign of whether or not someone is a douche.
He's still got some real ability and is a great defender. When he's motivated (i.e. playing for a contending team), he's a damn good big man.
LOL Id hope by now that Smoove (of all people) would know not to believe these media types. He gets ish talked about him more than almost any other player.
Jamal is saying all the right things.
He's the type of dude who legitimately could be 6th man of the year (and it sounds like he is very happy with that proposed role; which is great).
Exactly. We got a quality NBA player and didnt give up much to get it. Not sure why people are upset... good teams have players like Crawford coming off the BENCH (which he will be doing).
True, he is grossly overpaid... but hey, I'd rather pay him $10-mill than Speedy and Law $8-mill.
Some of this is ridiculous.
Crawford will be the 6th man next year. Sund did not get him to 1) try to get him to play the point or 2) to move Marvin to the bench.
Sheesh. He is perfectly suited as a scoring 6th man.
From Dime Magazine (I agree with this 100%):
"Crawford could play PG for the Hawks if they lose Mike Bibby in free agency, but we’re seeing him as a Ben Gordon/J.R. Smith-type scoring two-guard who can start or come off the bench. Since Joe Johnson is big enough to play the three, you can run a crunch-time lineup of Bibby-Crawford-Johnson-Josh Smith-Al Horford. Good move for ATL … "
While not the best defensive lineup, that would be a great crunch-time lineup.
As said elsewhere, I am almost positive that Sund envisions Crawford in the 6th man/Flip Murray role. Crawford still gets his 30-35 minutes and can "do him" (high potent offense, which will be made easier with a Joe Johnson around).
I tihnk there is a 70% chance that he is our 6th man next season. But that's a GREAT role for him (the way coming off the bench as an "offensive spark plug" worked for Flip).
We need more shooters/scorers. Crawford can be deadly playing 30-35 minutes as the 6th man.
I think Crawford will make a perfect 6th man (35 minutes a game like Chill used to get).
Not sure why some people are negative about this deal. Crawford is a quality NBA player, and to get him, we only had to give up 2 guys that werent really in our regular playing rotation.
We get another scorer/shooter.
2 things pop out at me:
1) One of Marvin or Bibby is gone for sure
2) We're going PG tomorrow
Crawford is definitely overpaid some, but at least he has only 2 more years left on the deal. Plus, he provides the offensive production we SORELY need.
I like it.
I agree Diesel, Ellis isnt really a creator. But, next to JJ (who averages 6 assists a game and has the ball a lot), he works.
More than anything, I just finally want a pg who will push the tempo some. Ellis would do that. So would Baron.
