  1. At Cumberland Mall in the 80's I saw a huge shadow behind me and turned around to see Dominique. He laughed at my facial expression as my jaw dropped. He was really cool and signed and autograph for me. I still can't believe he was not mobbed as he was totally alone. I also met Konack and his kids on Roswell Rd. Sandy Springs in the mid 90's.
  2. I think this is pretty spot on: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13140430/uni-watch-grading-atlanta-hawks-new-uniforms
  3. I view the front office as an extension of the owners. You can have the best GM in the world but without money and support from the owners it would be very difficult to succeed.
  4. To win championships in the NBA you need great players plus a good owner/s. The second part of that equation is not in place for the Hawks. The only ability a fan has to fix that problem is to take their funding away to force a change. Look what happened when the Falcons were finally purchased by a good owner. The same could happen for the Hawks but instead we will see the ASG dismantle this team to stay under the luxury tax. I've been a Hawks fan for over 25 years and that won't change. What will change is that I won't keep giving money to the junkie in hopes that they buy food instead of drugs.
  5. I will not support the ASG in any fashion. I will still remain a Hawks fan but I won't give my money to a group that is certain to turn its focus on running the Hawks into the ground now. The NHL should be ashamed of themselves for not stepping in to ensure a local buyer could purchase the Thrashers but the multimillion dollar franchise fee that the league gets probably clouds their vision. Lets hope the same fate is not in store for the Hawks as Seattle is an example of what happens with bad ownership.
  6. I fired off an email to the ATL Spirit and let them know I will not attended any event at Phillips until they are gone. If fans don't take a stand against this kind of mismanagement we will all be rooting for the Vancouver Hawks soon.
  7. Practice? Are we talking about practice?
  8. Hawks trade Dominique Wilkins to Clippers March 21, 1994 http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1355/is_n20_v85/ai_15235600/
  9. 1978-79 Seattle SuperSonics 1977-78 Washington Bullets It's more difficult to build a team of all-star to near all-star players like Detroit has done. It takes a lot of patience and player development. Free agency and the salary cap have limited the ability to keep a team like that together. It's much easier to win the lottery on a player like Tim Duncan and build around him.
  10. Who was the superstar on Detroit when the won their last title?
  11. Morris lacks aggression and is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
  12. There is a reason Prince is on the Olympic team while Howard and Smoove are not.
  13. Prince is capable of more scoring but on the Pistons he's the fourth option.

  15. No, not until the ownership situation clears up.
  16. The biggest problem with all the speculation is that nothing can get done because of the ownership problems. That is why Smith does not have a new contract yet. The real problem with the Hawks has been and will be the Atlanta Spirit.
  17. Quote: Quote: At what point do the illegal gambling charges get brought into the picture? Vick will never play in the NFL again if he pleas or gets convited of gambling. That means he has to pay back about 28 million in signing bonus money. I don't think that is accurate. In terms of gambling, if he is proven or pleads to making bets on dog fights that will be the same criminal violation as Michael Jordan making bets on the golf course. It would not keep him out of the league. * * * On the question of whether Vick does jail time for sure, I think the answer is that if he pleads or is convicted then he is definitely going to do jail time. The only way he avoids jail time is if he fights the charges and gets a not guilty verdict on the vast majority of the charges (either all of them or all except some minor violation). "Vick would likely owe the Falcons, as we've reported, more than $28 million in previously paid bonus money. He would receive a stiff suspension from the NFL, and possibly a lifetime ban if he pleads guilty to conspiracy to maintain an interstate gambling enterprise." 19. Please explain to me what company would let you keep your job if you had been federally indicted? Why should Vick be any different? I’m tired of hearing this bull$hit about how everyone needs to wait for “due process”. The guy owns property that was used for training and fighting dogs for years. Of course he knew about it and condoned it. In time he will face his punishment after “due process”. At least I hope he will anyway. I imagine he has already started singing like a canary for a plea bargain. Mike Vick is a disgrace to the Falcons and Atlanta.
  20. Quote: In my mind, the pick makes sense only if we drafted Horford with the intent to give him serious minutes at the center position. I expect him to be a big part of filling the almost total absence of interior scoring offensively and to defend against opposing centers much of the time. For a team that is largely based on perimeter shooting, some success in the post offensively would give some nice balance to our team. I concur.
