Chancey Billups like? Um, Chauncey Billups minus the scoring is pretty much nothing. Royal Ivey is a stiff, period. Put him with Steve Nash and he is average at best, but they play the same position so that doesn't make much sense.

This is the month of the scandal, Vick Bonds, NBA If you have any dirty laundry to air, this is the month to do it so that it can only get so much coverage. Just lay it out there at this point and see if the media will even notice it with all the crap that is going down.

Yes the calls are very inconsistent. I can't help but believe this will help the Hawks get a few more calls go our way since for the most part we have the younger unproven players.

Phoenix is paying Diaw 9 million a year for like 3 more years! They are screwed, Nash made him look good the first year but we all knew Diaw can't shoot. Think Phoenix would rather have signed Johnson at 12-15 a year for an all star vs. Diaw at 9. It's not even close. End the end if your draft picks are top 5, they aren't worth much, especially for the Hawks. Phoenix even sold one this year for 3 million. The JJ trade is looking better for us every year, and when Diaw is a complete bust, we will be the winners.

Amen, When you look at it, it's actually a stretch to say Sheldon was taken way early, come on what's 3 spots from the 5 position. The rumor was he wasn't going until later but who knows what would have actually happen. Its not like a GM is going to fess up at this point and say how much he liked Sheldon. There were tons of duds drafted after Sheldon. Brandon Roy taken at 6 is a Shooting Guard which is Joe's postion. Foye is kindof a combo guard and beside that there wasn't much available that wouldn't have been a reach. I would say Sheldon was a bit of a reach, but just take a look at all the duds after him. Obryant at 9, Sene at 10, the list just keeps going on from there. In hindsight trading the pick probably made the most sense.

I think everyone's expectations were to be to high for Sheldon. I think he can be a 10pts/9 rebound guys who can defend the center position on some nights. He is a draft bust if you are hoping for 17pts/11 boards 2 blocks per game. Not a star just a contributor.

Well, It's summer league! If a player sucks in summer league, he is more likely to suck in the real NBA. If a player is great you have to withold judement. It's like trying to judge Yi in the CBA, there was not competition. Like judging Sheldon against guys who aren't in the NBA. Some of these Summer league guys who are warm bodies but not NBA material. So it's possible to put up strong numbers. For me its like the garbage time at the end of games when the outcome has already been decided and the last month of the season where players shine while most teams were trying to lose. It doesn't mean Sheldon stinks, it just means he has not answered any questions. I am still vey hopeful about Sheldon and am not trying to bash him. 23/11 is a heck of a lot better than sucking it up in which case his sucking would almost definetly translate directly to the NBA and the bench.

This is summer league. It's glorified wind sprints and shooting drills. The numbers DO NOT TRANSLATE to the NBA.

I really believe Billy Knight takes way to much heat. He is actually proved to be a good talent evaulator. Think of the Hawks picks before Knight, maybe the worst of any franchise of any sports, the list is amazing....Keefe, Bowdler, Edwards, Priest Lauderdale, McLoud...unbelievable. They just sucked. Knights picks Gasol, M. Williams (ok, yuck), Josh Smith (@17), Josh Childress, Diaw (worked for Phoenix, but aren't we all glad we are paying him 9 million a year, folks forget this when analyzing the Johnson trade), brought in Joe Johnson. Joe Johnson who wants to be a Hawk. Speedy and Sheldon (over Roy) are weak, but it's not over with them yet. They should both perform better this year. We have 0 bad contracts right now, and Billy Knight is very limited in the trades he can make. Face it, these Owners aren't looking sign or trade for anybody to a max contract. So given the situtation Billy is in he has put this franchise in a enviable position talent and money wise. SO as long as it's not a personality contest, I like what BIlly Knight has done. Hawk88

Had we drafted Yi I would be feeling like Shinola. Can you imagine drafting Sheldon Williams last year and Yi this year. I would think BK might put himself out of his misery.

On Horford, it was actually bugging the hell out of me knowing Phoenix was going to get the big and get Horford. I only watched a few Florida games, but Horford is a winner, definetly a kid I want on my team. Just because you drafted a PF the previous year you don't pass on an upgrade when their isn't really another option. It would have been interested had Noah not been drafted by the Bulls at 9, would the Hawks have taken Noah at 11 as the defensive center and moved Horford to Memphis for Conley? I am wondering did the Hawks rank Law above Conley. I am very happy with Horford and Law.

Summer League, are these folks kidding. Marvin Willaims even looks good in summer league and we all know what happens during the regular season. I would put zero wait into these games, unless of course Law and Horford start putting up 30 a game. I would love to unload Marvin for Yi. Law Johnson Yi J. Smith Horford Very green but I like it.
