Just curious - Why would any NBA Team make any such promises?

Which (if any) of the Hawks Free Agents (Korver, Pachulia, Harris, Johnson, etc) do you think Ferry and Budenholzer might be interested in trying to re-sign for next season?

Now that the Hawks have hired Mike Budenholzer as their next Head Coach (which, I think is a GREAT HIRE!) how do you think his hiring will effect the Hawks upcoming Draft and Free Agency? Will he attract top players, what type players in the Draft and in Free Agency can we expect to see him go after, etc? I don't know much about him other than he has been one of the top assistants to one of the alltime best NBA Head Coaches so I am guessing that he should have a great foundation to take over a Head Coaching position. I am very, very excited about Budenholdolzer!

Agreed (I also like the prospects of Messina although it would be a gamble but I do think Budenholzer would be a excellent hire as well!)! I wonder what kind of influence Budenholzer would have on available Free Agents.

I thought I read somewhere today that Doc Rivers has signed an extension with the Celtics.

So, can anyone tell me if the Hawks are really going to hire a new Head Coach for next season or will they end up keeping Drew? And, if they do decide to make a coaching change who (Stan Van Gundy?) do you think they will hire?

Don't know if hiring Phil Jackson is really possible but can you imagine the Free Agents that would want to come play for him???

If Chris Paul and Dwight Howard really want to play together next season how many teams can realistically afford to sign both of them other than the Hawks? I will still be very pleasantly surprised to see them sign with the Hawks but I can't imagine there are too many teams with the cap flexibility the Hawks have that can sign both of them.

The "MIAMI HEAT Part II" sounds great! I hope the Hawks can somehow pull it off! I would guess that would bring more excitement to the Hawks fans in a very long time if not forever!

How long do you think it will take Danny Ferry to announce his plans for his coaching decision (Keep LD or hire someone else)? Does he make his decision quick so IF he decides to hire another Head Coach he (both of them) can begin ASAP to work on their offseason or does he take his time (shortly after the playoffs or longer)?

From what I have read on the Hawks message boards it sounds like there might be a lot of new players on their roster next season and possibly even a new Head Coach which could end up making the Hawks roster look like an expansion team. It should be a Wild Offseason!!!

I agree with some of the other posters that there are probably more than two reasons but one area that keeps getting my attention (and, I might be wrong!) is Rebounding! It just seems to me that every time I check the Hawks stats they are always getting out rebounded by a pretty good margin!?

Reggie Evans is tough and a rebounding machine! He is a player I was always hoping the Hawks would try to sign!

The important question is will he be a Hawk next season when he resumes his quest to beat the record! I am hoping YES but I am guessing NO!

I was kind of thinking just the opposite. With Kobe out I am guessing Dwight becomes "The Man" for the Lakers for the rest of this season and for whatever part of next season Kobe misses before he returns. I am guessing with Kobe's injury the Lakers will make a strong push to keep Dwight on the team.

I probably overlooked it somewhere on the earlier posts but can someone tell me which team (Hawks or a Bulls) get the 5th seed if they end up tied in the standings?

Last night was a great night for Atlanta Sports fans with huge wins by the Hawks and the Braves! I have to admit that with the way they started their games I really thought they were both on their way to losing their games. I am thrilled I was wrong and I will learn to have more faith in both these teams!

I really hope there is some way the Hawks can re-sign Korver! Can you imagine him and Jenkins lighting it up from the 3-point land next season?!

It would be nice if the Hawks could be the next Miami Heat (NBA Allstar Team!)!
