  1. Ummm something I am considering is that instead of Collins is Capela who is traded  and we receive Turner with other moving pieces as Norman Powell or Jeremy Lamb coming our way also. Is that a possibility?

  2. I don't want to trade for DeRozan. Even a 2nd rounder.

I am fine with Hayward signed as FA. Not happy to give anything for him.

I don't want any one year rental as Jrue or PG specially if we give any draft pick or asset for it.

I am not sure about  any trade for a higher pick, will do with GSW if Hayward signs because that meana Huerter will have a tough way for minutes.

I could be fine for a trade with Washington for Troy Brown and 9, might select Haliburton, Hayes, Vassell or Nesmith.

We need vets but is going to be easier to add by FA. Guys like Napier, Dunn, Rivers, Mcrae, Korkmaz, Harris, Grant, Crowder, Jones Jr.... There are a lot that would have clear path for minutes here.

I'd just as soon stay at 6 and take a high floor guy like Hali, Hayes or Okungwu. To me Wiseman is the safest pick in the draft. He'll average 17 and 9 from day one.

I agree, best player in the draft is Wiseman in my opinion, a freak of nature, a double-double machine, the true superstar in this class. I am ok giving Huerter for him,  all-in bet. I don't see enough on Edwards to do it.

He's pretty close to Okoro. As I mentioned in an earlier post, they're both hard workers on defense, play makers on offense, Culver is a better shooter, but neither can make a FT. For those that lean Okoro, from a value standpoint, #6 for Culver and #17 (that could be used on a number of players) is not that bad.

FWIW I'd rather take Haliburton or Hayes than do that deal.

Although I understand Culver's youth and upside might be a little bit tempting the truth is that his impact on the tesm would be negative and we will be better with a vet FA. His stats on the year were as bad as Hunter snd Reddish and he struggled badly on the FT and on FG. As opposed as Hunter snd Reddish he did not show any improvement through the year, I would even think he was playing worse.

We would be more effective with Huerter, Reddish and Hunter on the floor and he would have a hard time finding time behind them. We need some vet help on the wings.

That is why I would prefer going PG or big this draft, too many young players on the wing, no space to develop all. And that is why I think Atlanta is considering trading Huerter if they get Edwards.

  5. I am still on the Haliburton, Okongwu, Hayes bandwagon. Best fits are the first two. Trade with GSW intrigues me but I don’t see clear a star on Edwards, might be a star but might be Wiggins 2.0 or Dion Waiters. I see Haliburton and Okongwu as a more sure thing.

You don't tank to end up with the choice between a bunch of high floor guys, which is why this draft is indeed garbage.

Folks have said all along there are several good roleplyers to be had but, as I said, that's not what the lottery is for.  Those guys don't shift the fortunes of your franchise.

Getting a solid good starter is what you could expect at 6th pick. The players we have available there are in line with these expectations. Bad year to be on the top 3 where you are expected to get a star.

Chris Kirschner says we are drafting Haliburton or Okongwu is Avdija is not available. Thoughts?

Those are my 2 prefered players, hopefully we keep the picknand select 1. I don't want to trade a young stud for a 1 year rental or a FA.

  8. We were not trying to win until now. We are not filling the team with crap FAs, we are filling the team with good players for now on. You must add to last year team Capela and hopefully Skal, that is a big plus on the front court.

I expect Hawks to make at least 3 additional FA signings, 2 wings and a PG, hopefully a backup PF is also signed. One of the wings we are targeting is apparently Hayward which would be again a big plus. I think the players we are signing will be real contributors and will elevate the team level.

#6th pick is a real asset, there is a reason teams are trying to move up. Advija, Toppin, Okongwu, Haliburton, Hayes, 3 of those will be available and are really good prospects that can grow with our team. I prefer Haliburton and Okongwud but would be happy also with Advija or Hayes.

There is absolutely no reason to trade this asset for a one year rental even though Jrue is a real good player. Is not that we need to give our pick to receive a good vet, we have tons of cap space and can sign them, there are players as valuable as Jrue that fit on the timeline Hawks are following, Jrue does not. If we end with Hayward you get same impact without giving anything.

Jrue is a fantastic player. Reason he was not winning with Davis was how the roster was built, rest of the team was absolutely crap specially on the wings.

  10. Is going to be a long wait till the draft day. I think we have good cards to make a run at the offseason but trading John Collins I think would be a major mistake that Hawks would regret for years. I really hope John stays with us for many years.

My top 10 mock with trades:

    1.      MIN (NO) – Ball – Holiday for Ball and salary filler.

    2.      GS (ATL) – Edwards – Huerter and 6 for #2.

    3.      CHA – Wiseman

    4.      CHI – Haliburton

    5.      CLE – Deni

    6.      ATL (WAS) – Okongwu – Troy Brown Jr., #9, #37 for 6

    7.      DET – Hayes

    8.      NYK – Okoro

    9.      WAS (GS) – Toppin

    10.   PHX – Kira Lewis Jr.

My interpretation of the list you posted is that 9 was goingo to GS, 2 to Atl and 6 to Was so I was assuming it was 9 and Huerter for 2.

    Part 3

    NBA Draft 2020

MIN has been aggressively trying to move down while over aggressively wanting to get the most for their buck. They have made it clear they want a future 2021 1st from a team they think will be a lottery team next year and yes, Atlanta is one of them. No one has bit. That may change. They really want in for 2021 but they want a high-quality pick. They are not willing to move back for GS own 2021 1st. The value of the 2021 1st round pick is seen as extremely high.

They are targeting teams they believe will be lottery teams. Ball seems to be the player they are targeting the most mainly due to trade value. There is a chance Ball could be the pick and he would not play a min in MIN.

NEW: This is probably the biggest deal on this list. This is hot off the presser. Jrue Holiday has become the target and there is a lot of interest from New Orleans and MIN. The only thing is Jrue must be willing to sign an extension as soon as he’s eligible which they (the NBA) are working on the date atm.

His extension could be nearing max range which will mean MIN has three max players under contract. The question is, does it make sense for MIN to have three max guys and still you have questions if this is a playoff team. There is a lot more to this potential deal than what I currently have so keep a look out for this deal.

This also highlights what I been hearing from NO of them looking for PG’s and seeing Lonzo Ball as a quick passing guard like Haliburton is getting seen as. Lonzo is Melo ying to Melo’s yang. This is big news.

GS has been doing the same as MIN but a lot more open to pick swap and higher end young player than MIN. GS is really pushing for a deal with CHI, CLE, DET, and ATL. CHI just lacks all interest as does CLE. As I’ve mention, the name that has been mention has been Kevin Huerter. For CLE, Collin Sexton and from CHI, Lauri M and L. Kennard from DET. If they stay, they could go in so many directions. Wiseman is NOT a lock is what I just recently got.

    NEW:

GS knows three things right now is what he directly got for GS.

    1.      The talent in this draft is very good even if the players are not there yet or even close.

    2.      No one in this draft will start next year for them.

    3.      The biggest need is depth, and their biggest issue is salary.

As mentioned already, they are targeted trading back to add depth, but they do like the talent @2 if they cannot get the players they covet. Golden State likes Ball, Wiseman, Deni, and Edwards the most. They also like Haliburton, Hayes, Bey, Toppin, and Okongwu. He told me today to not be surprised if GS moved back twice as he feels GS been extremely aggressive even more of late for the draft. GS only position where they like their depth in at PF. There is a lot of interest in a trade down with both ATL and DET. Especially ATL due to Kevin Huerter contract (2 years – rookie deal).

CHA has been the most likely of the top 5 teams to keep their pick but even they are looking at all options. If Wiseman is here, expect him to be the pick but Okongwu and Toppin also have a case.

NEW: The presumption is Wiseman will be the pick. There has been talk of Okongwu being the pick over Ball, but he thinks that’s smoke. Okongwu has been making major inroads to the point he is the top guy on DET board now.

CHI is the team that MOST wants to move down between the 6-9 range and have been in talks with NY, WAS, ATL, and DET to move down on salary relief. It is clear they want a PG more than anything but would consider more than anything.

NEW: He basically said he is hearing that Hayes or Haliburton is the choice here. Especially Hali if they want to start either with LaVine or White. He also said this could be Okongwu trade lane if you are willing to pay a major premium (14th overall pick swap, #26, with a lottery protected Boston 2021 1st).  Atlanta has not been open to moving up to #4 for the price CHI wants.

CLE is fine with staying at 5 as they are down to three players: Deni, Okoro, Vassell are all players they are targeting. The lean here is Deni from what is being said but there is serious interest in Okoro as well. That opens the door for trades if they can get one that sensible. Cleveland wants to be aggressive this year in FA which is unusual for a rebuilding team. They are target resigning and they want extend Drummond.

ATL is the main chess piece on the board due to them not having any major needs while having a win now mindset but wanting to get the best player long term. Within the org, you got some that want Atlanta to move up to get Ball, Edwards, and even some for Wiseman.

You also have those who want Atlanta to trade back and add a quality rotational vet and a pick swap. No key player is available for #6 that is not a rental and Atlanta does not want a rental for this pick, which is different than a month ago, but Gordon Hayward was not in the picture back then. Because of Hayward, Atlanta could go any direction in this draft. Up, Down, or Stay. If they stay: Hayes, Deni, Obi, Okongwu, and Okoro are the targets. Due to Hayward, I personally think moving up might be their move.

NEW: Okongwu seems to be slipping but the others seem to be the targets at #6. If anyone is starting to get more of a late push, it is Killian Hayes. When there is such a wide net that is cast so close to the draft, that usually means this team is prime to move down. In this case, Atlanta could go any direction. This is another Okongwu trade zone with a cheaper cost than #4. There is a good chance we do not know who the final team at this spot is like #4 last year.

DET is targeting PGs but Ball is their top guy. They really are not interested in the cost to move up for him from MIN and would rather move a key young player and pick swap for Ball aka GS. They also love Wiseman as well. Okongwu is also on their board. They are looking at a lot of things for trades but moving down is not that high unless all their guys are gone. If there is a team that is willing to move up to 1st overall, it is Detroit, but the price might be too steep.

NEW: Okongwu is their top guy right now. After that, PGs like Lewis Jr, Hayes, and Haliburton are in the convo. DET is a team that could be on the move up. Especially considering #6 could be Okongwu land after trades.

NY really does not mind moving up to eat salary, but they are not interested in trading picks. They want to keep #27 and they want to keep all their future 1st rounders.

NEW: NY is a difficult read. So many guys appear on their radar like Williams, Maxey, and others while the typical guys who are already in this range are also here. Remember what I said about a wide casted net. He said to me, he does not know what NY is going to do at all. This could be a trade up spot for a PG of your choice depending on the actions of others. Many have locked them into Obi Toppin, but I would not be too sure to do that either. Thibs is going to take the best Thibs player. Personally speaking, I think Vassell will be the pick. He is the most Thibs player in this draft aside from Okoro.

WAS is all in on Okongwu. They have even made a solid offer to Atlanta where we would get Troy Brown Jr. and a 2nd rounder. This has been considered very appealing to Atlanta depending how the board falls. If they do not land Okongwu, expect this to be a trade back hot spot. There are still players on the board teams are targeting where moving up will be extremely intriguing.

PHX is hoping Killian Hayes drops to them but if he does not, Kira Lewis Jr. could be the pick at this spot. PHX is clearly looking at PGs. It was assumed they were all in for FVV, but it seems like the interest has dampened as well as their interest in moving Oubre.

My top 10 mock without trades:

    1.      MIN – Ball

    2.      GS – Wiseman

    3.      CHA – Edwards

    4.      CHI – Haliburton

    5.      CLE – Deni

    6.      ATL – Toppin

    7.      DET – Okongwu

    8.      NYK – Vassell

    9.      WAS – Achiuwa

    10.   PHX – Hayes

My top 10 mock with trades:

    1.      MIN (NO) – Ball – Holiday for Ball and salary filler.

    2.      GS (ATL) – Edwards – Huerter and 6 for #2.

    3.      CHA – Wiseman

    4.      CHI – Haliburton

    5.      CLE – Deni

    6.      ATL (WAS) – Okongwu – Troy Brown Jr., #9, #37 for 6

    7.      DET – Hayes

    8.      NYK – Okoro

    9.      WAS (GS) – Toppin

    10.   PHX – Kira Lewis Jr.

So let me understand something Supes, do you think there is a possibility Hawks trade 9 and Huerter for 2 and take Edwards while receiving 9,37 and Troy Brown Jr for 6??

So we walk from draft with Edwards, 37 and Troy Brown Jr for Huerter and 6 because that is for me a great scenario.

  13. So if megadeal happens Huerter stays and Hayward is not signed.

If Hayward is signed, megadeal is gone and we try Huerter and 6 for 2.

I am starting to think megadeal could be Collins for Siakam or Capela for Turner. Or it could be just Atlanta taking some vets for a team to give them cap for 2021. Anyway Supes said the PG could come or not so I assume is just a filler. And the key part here is that there is no agreement for Oladipo between Indy and 3rd team so most likely is not happening.

  14. Wiseman is the real all-star on this draft, he will be the best player. I think Ball and Edwards will be more busts than boom. Okongwu, Toppin and Haliburton will be a lot of years on the league. Okoro will be a big bust, that is my prediction.

It's pretty easy to guess it if you been closely following my posts with Indy.

The discussion I remember is the Myles Turner one. Regarding Oladipo I guess we are the ones eating salary so that Oladipo goes to a contender. I remember us as a possible Wiggins destination but nothing more. Hill makes 9 million$, I guess could work.

We have to find a 3rd team that:

    1. Wants Dipo

    2. Is sending a 'stud' or real value to Indy

    3. Can take Dedmon's salary as filler

    4. Will send a PG to the Hawks.

    Milwaukee/George Hill, I found it!!!

He isn’t Trae but Trae is a generational offensive talent. But it’s been said Hawks want a secondary playmaker. They don’t won’t Trae taking up ALL the usage (give him more energy on D & he’s elite c&s from 3) & remember the offense fell of a cliff when was off the court.

Edwards is not a playmaker, he is a chucker.

  18. hace 9 minutos, DS5 dijo:

Can't think of any other teams that are seriously interested in Dipo other than Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Supes already said it wasn't Dinwiddie.

And we are not getting Malcom Brogdon. Why would Indiana trade him away? And it would take a whole lot more than Dedmon.

Based on rumors it can be Miami, Milwaukee, Brooklin and NY. The PG is either Holiday or Nunn or George Hill/Di Vicenzo or Nktilina. I am beginning to think might be George Hill for Dedmon and I like it.

I disagree saying a highlight video implies those on the outside didn’t watch this kid. The young guy has the talent and tools of a 3 way scoring threat. There’s no denying the talent isn’t there.

I agree with the decision making but he was placed on a team where he could go and do what he wants similar to Trae at Oklahoma. But again the guy is 19 years old and he’s not done growing and advancing his mindset. Decision making can get better as long as these young guys are properly molded. We had the same questions about Trae and some still do.

lol I am not going to argue because everyone sees this different  but I don’t think he’s undersized in this era for SGs . Edwards is 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-5, 225-235 pound frame and 6-foot-10 wingspan. He’s not undersized at all for SG in my eyes...Very similar build to Wade and Donovan Mitchell with similar or slightly better athleticism so he’ll be fine.

I watched this kid closely personally I’m past looking at stats. The kid has the talent, skills, very high ceiling but OF COURSE he has to improve on things mainly decision making. He’s not going to walk in as a star just because the talent, skills, and high ceiling is there.  I understand your points however .

Trae scored 29 ppg with better percentages, this kid barely reached 20 ppg with lower percentages. The offensive production is not comparable.

Cam is much better fit for Trae at SG, he creates a mismatch on offense and is really good fit on defense, he doesn't need the ball to be effective.

Positives wise, he did grow an inch and is now a legit 6'5 235. The thing is, he's not like Cam where he had major issues preventing him to play to his strengths. Edwards wants to play a style that's 100% AAU and he's years away from playing winning Basketball. I haven't seen someone so AAU based in their game since Tony Wroten.

Tony never had the talent to overcome this flaw of his. I hope Anthony has. I would say he has the AAU styled game similar to a fresh out of HS player and while Tom Crean installed tremendous training, hard work, and a will to work in him, he didn't really get better at Basketball. He's just not a good player right now. Honestly, from a pure Basketball player stance, he's not any good. I would say he's the worst SG in this class expected to get drafted with Isaiah Joe.

That said, like Joe, he's a much better fit for the NBA than someone like Sam Merrill and Elijah Hughes.

The best comparison I've seen for him is Zach LeVine impact wise but I think John Wall is a decent one. I think John is just better as a Basketball player at the same stage. So John Wall lite. Not the same players but they are overwhelmingly freakish athletically and size wise. They have insane explosiveness for their size. But it's the mental and the discipline that you question with both. Edwards even more than Wall and he doesn't play to his strengths while Wall did at this stage. Wall had a lot more good full game tape than Edwards did but his team was MUCH MUCH better.

I see the SG version of Andre Wiggins, high volume scorer, low efficiency and below average defense, do not translate to wins you will always find a reason foe the losses, high scoring will lead you to a big contract, then you realize he is the problem and then is impossible to move him. I find so many coincidences that is scary.

With Cam at Sg we can be a contender, with Edwards we are the Timberwolves. Edwards will need the ball and will take it out of Trae's hands, bad for thrñe team. We already have a hig volume player, we don't need another one.
