  1. Is adidas working on a J-Smoove duet with "Slim Chin"? http://www.hawksquawk.net/community/index.php/topic/352327-d-ho-and-d-rose-in-fast-dont-lie/ ~lw3
  2. LOL, that was great. I dunno if Prime Time knows his daddy, but if not, Little Richard should be subjected to a DNA test. Boastful yet talented showmen, through and through. 34 sounds about right. I had the sound down last night on NFL Network and he mumbled something about, "Where's my baby powder?" while looking under the desk, and I didn't know what he was fussing about. ~lw3
  3. Let's try to keep tonight's Magic game under triple-digits... the losing margin, that is! In the last three games O-Town has beaten Chicago by 38, Charlotte by 13, and New Orleans by 54. And never mind last year's regular season and playoffs, the Hawks lost last year's preseason tilt by 37, after the Magic took the lead well into the 40's. How does that phrase from Animal House go: "Thank you, Sir, may I have another?" Fox Sports Florida/SUNsports will show the game with the Magic's broadcast team, so hopefully a feed will be available online (adthe, channelsurfing) for those of us not heading downtown to watch it live. ~lw3
  4. Well, at least during the lockout, he can join the Rockettes! ~lw3
  5. Just reading from the recap and box scores... CP3 and Ariza played just the first quarter. NOkafor, and no DWest. Peja came in and took 5 shots in under 8 minutes (?!?) and missed them all. The Hornets' starting frontcourt consisted of J-Not-So-Smoove (Jason Smith) and Aaron Gray. Should've been able to open up a little more of a can on them, but oh wells. As we get into the nationally televised games this week versus the Magic and Heat, we really need to see more assisted buckets from this motion offense. CP3 had 4 assists in his one quarter of play, while no Hawk guards other than Jamal (5 assists) could muster more than 2 the entire game. Bibby's stat lines are at a point where they could pass for binary code. Solid contributions from Marvin tonight, and it's good to see J-Pow on the "plus" side of the plus-minus for once. ~lw3
  6. As an aside, any takers for Agent Nine's old friend, Atlanta's own Javaris Crittenton? He got waived by the Bobcats due to the lack of minutes at PG up there. Plus, as Gil can assuredly attest, J-Critt is nobody's punk. ~lw3
  7. MC tweets that Teague (ankle) is still doubtful for Saturday's game against the Bugs. I'm not one to advocate rushing an injury, but for his sake he might want to put some butter on that thing and lace up. JC1 was back at practice today, along with Marvin, Mo and JaCo. ~lw3

  10. We could get Elton Brand for Elton John right now. Philly fans are so done with him. ~lw3
  11. http://www.ajc.com/sports/and-the-winner-is-682309.html After much dragging, kicking, screaming, and teeth-gnashing... Not a fan of colonels that aren't frying me buckets of chicken, so ol' Reb had to go. But this pick was the least of three evils. That Hotty Toddy thing made no sense... why is a "Young Mister" running around with a flag that says "Ole Miss?" And I need a History Channel TV special to explain away the Land Shark. Whatever a bear has to do with "rebels" is a reach, but so are the concepts of a coonhound as a "volunteer" and a elephant as a "rolling tide." So whatevs, Black Bear it is. Can they at least make it black, though? Politically correct is one thing, do they have to be naturally correct, too? Also, just a hunch that they won't name it "Bryant." ~lw3
  12. I remember watching that as a kid on Sixers' TV up in Philly, when Nique put the pound on the Round Mound. I kinda recall he swatted Barkley on the other end of the floor prior to the jam. At that point, I was like, "hmmm... maybe it's a good time to switch allegiances..." ~lw3
  13. I definitely have that East Coast bias! But poor Woody either didn't know how to adjust C-Webb's studio chair, or was just slumped down so low he was almost chin-level with the desk. He had that "You all know I should be coaching SOMEWHERE by now, right?" look on his face on the occasions he dared to look away from the host and into the camera. He refused to play reindeer games with 3-D during the latter's many attempts at humorous banter during the game reviews, especially the Hawx-Wiz matchup. His demeanor was like Smitch's, after he got canned by the Raptors and the phone wasn't ringing off the hook (I think phones still had hooks then), it was clear he really didn't want to be there "commentating". Anybody catch after the Celtics-Sixers review, did Woody say he recently helped Boston with scouting or something? He got dragged into commentary about how good Boston is, and that's what I thought I heard through the under-his-breath mutters, but wasn't sure. ~lw3
  14. I appreciate that, Swat, which is why last year's first-rounder should be given an opportunity to earn it, once he returns from injury. If he "proves otherwise," we can formally entertain this year's first-rounder, who was not drafted to be the PG but is making the most of his opportunities with Teague injured. The Summer League and the Memphis games weren't enough to justify going away from Teague at the point... not just yet. While the argument you're making is valid, all of our concerns are built around the assumption that, barring some kind of unfortunate amputation, the veteran incumbent (Bibby) will be "given" the starting position. Thus, the "loser" between JC2 and Teague will be relegated to #3 on the depth charts (Teague @ PG, JC2 @ both PG and SG). Thankfully, the Crawford Conundrum has presented itself and it is clear that, even though it's just a couple games, JC2 should not be a #3 option at either position on this team. If Teague comes back and plays about the same as he has so far, I'd like to see how JC2 progresses defensively (and he will progress... just a matter of how quickly) and with shot-selection before making the call between these two at PG. As for Marvin, if only we had enough talent at SF for such debate. Apologies to Mo, but there's a reason the "Start Mo!" threads have gained little traction. Back in June, I wanted Damion James (the guy we traded to get JC2 + $$$?) to create precisely the fuss around Marvin that we're having around Bibby 'n Teague now. Your suggestions can take hold, but are predicated on (1) Larry D going against convention with Bibby, and (2) Joe accepting the role he's doing now while Marvin is out... sliding to SF as a starter (JC2/JC1/Joe/Josh/Hofo). I'd love it for the first 10-15 minutes... until foul trouble arises and we're looking for a boost from a Halloween-scary second "unit" (Bibby/Sy?/Marvin/Powell/Zaza) to hold leads or keep opponent's leads close. In this scenario, can our starters commit to 40+ minutes season-long? For the money they have/want, they sure won't complain. But would it be wise? ~lw3
  15. Any sightings of my boy, Damion James, lately? ~lw3
  16. Jeff Teague... until he proves otherwise. ~lw3
  17. http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2010/10/kicker_john_carney_said_he_und.html Wished he would've stuck around until after the Saints visit the Dome, but oh well. ~lw3
  18. Don't forget: Mr. A. Joel Horford. ~lw3 Toni Braxton likes this thread. ~lw3
  19. Looks like we guessed right. Good luck to Fredi. ~lw3
  20. LOL @ Gil finding a way to make a news story out of last night's game. ~lw3
  21. That was an extra treat to see him with D3 over at NBA-TV's studio on Techwood. I don't recall him uttering one significant word during the ATL-WAS highlights. Or one significant word during the whole program, for that matter. He looked like he was sinking under the desk. I think it's safe to say that we won't be seeing him as a TV personality. Not unless he acquires, like, a personality. ~lw3
  22. As for Bibby, not necessarily this team. ~lw3
  23. Woody is quietly pulling together funds for a "Miss Me Yet?" billboard at Techwood 'n Marietta. ;-) ~lw3
  24. I sense a Player Development Director job is in the Bibster's immediate future. ~lw3
