Taylor is an outstanding coach. Their GM doesn’t get any publicity but he also has a quirky yet sharp eye for talent and fits and clearly places a premium on physicality.

Great stat. I think that’s what’s been driving the spike in odds numbers lately for the Hawks. Vegas loves depth.

Ten-Year NBA Net Rating Rankings (Infographics For All 30 Teams)
benhillboy replied to NBASupes's topic in Homecourt
I respect the Heat, Pacers, Blazers, and Spurs for consistently putting out a watchable product for their fans. Business sense aside I just can’t see how you sleep at night knowingly putting out one that isn’t. Just spitballing but I’m guessing front offices with a strong presence of prideful former players don’t take the bottoming out route. I think if you truly have good, serious people in ownership, management/ scouting, and coaching it’ll all fall into place sooner than later in spite of hurdles in free agency and the talent pool of the draft. -
It is head-scratching how he gets 24 minutes when Rivers, Quickley, and Rose are all decent-or-better defenders. His offensive rating is, well, offensive. He just always struck me as one of those guys who coaches love due to obedience or something. Thibs likes to further guys’ careers and get them paid which is commendable. Look at Luol Deng. Sure his body may be cracking and creaking, he’s still getting paid $5M by the Lakers through next season while he’s somewhere on an African beach lol.
-
Yeah I was confused when I saw “NBCA,” never saw that acronym in my life. I’d cast my vote for Thibs. When coaching a team with still near-peak CP3 all you have to be is pretty good and you’re a contender. The man simply doesn’t make mistakes on the floor. Thibs pulled a top-notch defense right outta his a$$ with that roster.

Never had any interest in this Knicks squad. Thibideau is the unquestioned defense whisperer but beyond field goal percentage against ain’t nothing too notable in their profile, dead last in pace. I even liked Randle better as a role-player paint bully. Almost fully healthy, if we protect the glass and the rock like we been doing it should be a comfortable 4-2 series win. Mitchell Robinson is a huge loss for them; one of the few guys who can bang and range with Capela.

Nah that wasn’t me.

Do you really want Trae Young to make an ALL NBA Team this season?
benhillboy replied to marco102's topic in Homecourt
I don’t wanna stop the man’s money. If I’m a GM though I’m certainly not happy about awards voted on by a “global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters” complicating negotiations with these agents. -
Yeah I think the references to King Kong aren’t in the best taste. Young Yek is what I call him. Double-O-Wreckin if I wanna get a little corny lol. Yall see what @Spud2nique did to me...he ain’t right.

We all knew Bogi was killing once he got healthy but I didn’t realize he had a damn .602 eFG on 13 shots. For comparison Joe topped out at .536 on 14 shots in Phoenix in ‘04 (off the strength of a Snell-like .478 from 3). Bogi is arguably one of the most lethal scorers who “let the game come to him” face a$$. Trae is smart enough to look at the percentages as well as how much these guys like receiving his passes smack-dab in their shooting pockets so his decreased 3 point shooting is a no-brainer. The coaching staff has got to manufacture some corner threes for him at some point though. Everyone on the team shoots them at good to great frequency and efficiency (outside of Gallo’s attempts and Dre’s percentage for some reason) Trae’s corner 3s account for 3% of his total attempts. Skylar Mays with the ideal ratio at 25% of attempts and 50% shooting, likely why his offensive rating is pretty husky with the 3:1 assist to turn.

I don’t think anyone has viewed any team this season as a juggernaut although Utah’s +9.2 point differential would say so. There are always questions about Gobert on the offensive end and Mitchell’s injury did nothing to appease those who still don’t know what to make of him yet. Granted he has become a plus rating player after 3 seasons of being negative so we shall see if he’s able to come back and in form when he’s evaluated in a week. Miami is still my team to beat. I just don’t see any weaknesses outside of frontcourt size. Any combination of Dragic/ Butler/ Herro/ Robinson/ Nunn/ Bam will give you excellent 3-level scoring. Any combination of Butler/ Iggy/ Ariza/ Bam is gonna give you stretches of shut down D.

Bogi, Velvy, and Snellville have a 3-Point Contest: Who Wins?
benhillboy posted a topic in Homecourt
I’m going with dark-horse Red Velvy and arguably the most repeatable form. I could see him canning about 8 or 9 of them guys consecutively from the wing to corner racks. -
Just a little lighthearted fun, veneers just look ridiculous most of the time. I actually think I’ve extolled the virtues of the parts of his game that I like better than his average fan over his short career span, hell even the bigger ones. I was one during his second half ROY push.

He looks like Jonah Hill from Wolf Of Wall Street. Unnatural shape with the phosphorescent shine lol. To each his own I guess. That’s just funny. Get that man a wall in the Hall lol.

I was surprised to see he has a 118 offensive rating to 113 defensive. He slick dominated fellow third stringers. Same with OO who played the hell out of his role against second stringers and bigger players to the tune of 123/ 110. Schlenk got this drafting thing down I believe.

Raise That Banner! 2020-21 Dirty South Division CHAMPS
benhillboy replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
Trae’s overall game simply ain’t for me but he is the “lead guy” on a division champ who suffered way too many missed games from key guys, finishing ahead of the defending East Champs and my 1A favorite player no less. Hats off Ice Trae The Game. -
I think Kelly Olynk was better as a rookie in Summer League than he is as a 9 year vet. I couldn’t understand for the life of me why the Heat had him starting.

Can’t stress how invaluable playoff experience is for a rookie. Hopefully Young Yek starts an Al-like run of playoff appearances to start his career. The Bawse Al not the streetwalker Al.

Ded gotta spring in his step., Ariza defending near peak level, Dragic been on ice and thawing out. A lot of people think they were a fluke and that’s cool. I love watching them dudes.

I didn’t think much of it when he signed. At $18M per its guys making twice he is without his 2 way, multi-positional ability. Bradley Beal in ‘22 for example.

I wished Trae made cross court passes more frequently. They usually lead to wide open looks a pass later. That said there’s definitely been an uptick in his overall passing lately.

So glad to see Trae and John grow closer after their rift. Grown man sh@t.

I never pegged Bogi as someone who enjoys playing defense but after locking down on Westbrook last night in the second half he may be. With his stone face on the court (but the biggest smile of all the team pictures lol) he really is a Joe Johnson redux. I’m almost ready to call him a pure shooter and I don’t like to throw that around. Of course. Mike is my dude! Carl not so much.
