  1. Hell, I knew Ressler and Schlenk had to be on here when we drafted Cam Reddish. I was like ain’t no way, we never had a FO actually select a player that we all wanted before. Not since Horford and Acie Law. (Yes, don’t act like ALL of us didn’t think he was the next DWade lol) Even resigning Solo and Lou last summer was a little too good to be true. I’ll take credit (shame) for the Kris Dunn signing. I was pushing his bandwagon heavy that offseason. My bad y’all
  2. @JayBirdHawk you are the only woman I know who can both make me laugh and make me think. You also do a good job of keeping me in check. I’m just saying, what’s good? Wifey material all day! Lol
  3. You say “get with the times” as if we don’t currently live the small ball, pace and space, DPS-era. At least one of the 2 starting bigs on every roster can hit an outside shot. Majority of teams like to play 4 out and some even like 5 out. There were times during the finals where GSW has all 5 players on or above the 3pt line. You know your stuff, but you also let your opinion get you carried away sometimes. Yes, in a vacuum, all teams would like 5 players that can play offense AND defense. Yes, defense is important. But there is not 1 single team in the Association whose 4 and 5 both cannot shoot outside of the paint. Even the Cavs who start 3x 7-footers, all but 1 of them can play on the perimeter. Thats not opinion. Thats not being a casual. Thats the way the game is being played. You sir, need to get with the times. Not the other way around Standing by for you to go completely off the rails in your reply.
  4. I agree. A trio of JC, Ayton, and OO work together in any combination you choose. OO certainly would get a minutes bump in that scenario. I don’t see the same thing being possible with CC, OO and JC, but if you’re Supes then it works.
  5. Well, good news, if you believe Supes, JC has no interest around the league. I hope Schlenk isn’t trying to move him just because, and only wants equal value in return. Otherwise, he is still a welcome and valuable piece of the team.
  6. It’s time to patch up that relationship with JC. Be like “You know I was just fooling around right? You always been my main man pots and pans, you know this baby!”
  7. I hope we keep JC now, lose Bogi, and bring back Wright. At center, I don’t care if it’s Capela or Ayton. SG was the biggest weakness on the team. Not anymore. We are above average at every position right now. No need to screw it up unless it is a no brainer type move.
  8. My new talking point: Murray >>>> Simmons Same production minus 5 inches of locker room drama. And way cheaper (for now)
  9. For anyone who may have doubts about Murray, I will say this: dude is literally a better player today than Ben Simmons was whenever he last played a basketball game. They are almost the same except for these glaring differences: 1. Murray is a willing and able shooter away from the basket 2. Murray is not a headcase, nor entitled, nor detrimental to the locker room. He is tough minded and a leader. I also predict he will be an enforcer for Trae and lose it on the next opponent that tries to bully him. 3. Murray did not just sit out a full calendar year because of a sprained ego, I mean back. 4. For the time being, Murray costs us less than half of Ben’s price tag. Oh, and 5. Ben is 5 inches taller. The height is ALL that Ben has on Murray, who defends and rebounds just as well. So, if you were ok with trading the farm away for a Max contract Ben Simmons, you should be over the moon about this Murray deal. Equal player, half the price, no drama, and we keep all of our core players in tact for the time being. Schlenk, you did your thing my guy. Congrats, and welcome aboard DJM!
  10. Too many rumors and it’s got all of us in our heads. We haven’t even gotten to FA yet. It’s going to be a long off season. I’ll say this. The only move I am against is trading JC for a scrub and a pick. I’m good with pretty much everything else as reported. Let’s see where everything falls from here.
  11. Tucker’s teams have been the only ones able to eliminate Trae and the Hawks. Something to keep in mind. It’s not like the Sixers lack talent. They really have lacked heart. Tucker is going to help give them an edge.
  12. Nah it’s all in the past now. And do you not remember that 40 foot bomb he hit against the Heat one series? He had a few good playoff moments. Good news is, we aren’t trading for Murray to be our top guy like we did with Joe. He will be number 2. Imagine if Joe was that good but only the 2nd best player on those teams behind a legit superstar that scared the crap out of opponents. Need I say more? Lol
  13. I remember thinking we paid a hefty price to bring in Joe Johnson, especially since he was just a role player with the Suns. Sometimes, these things work out better than numbers and analytics could ever predict based on past circumstantial proof. There is a reason why Pop, one of the best head coaches in the history of the game, is asking for so much for Murray. And I guarantee it’s not based on PER and W/S or anything else. He has his hands on the kid since day 1 and realizes what his ceiling is. Murray is still ascending and is already more accomplished than Joe was when we went after him. Consider how much people on here devalued Lavine, DeRozen, Booker and others. Just saying, what looks expensive now may look like a bargain later.
  14. Spurs doing the same thing they did before the draft by leaking a bunch of noise to drive up the price. Gallo’s deadline is like draft day all over. Cost changes the moment his contract is goes definite. Pop being an A-hole because he is butthurt about losing Murray
  15. Yumm. I love to hear that. I still doubt we will want to pay all 3 though (Bogi, Kev, Dre).
  16. Well for 1, we won’t have enough cap to sign Wright without first moving Bogi or Kev. So a move for Wright is also a decision to move on from Bogi likely and commit to defense at backup Guard. For 2, with that understanding, yes we expect minutes to be staggered. There are 96 mins at PG/SG. There is enough time for all 3 to play 30+ if you wanted. But likely Delon gets no more than 24 and Kev has the remaining balance with the majority of his time at backup SF now. 3. injuries happen. And if you’re the Hawks, they happen often. Doesn’t not hurt to have overlap of depth and talent. I think the big thing to understand is point #1. We aren’t carrying Trae, Murray, Bogi, Wright and Kev. One will not be here and by the sounds of it, Bogi is the one we want to move out the most.
  17. Because Wright can play next to either one of them and give us 48 mins of elite defense at guard at all times.
  18. Only one team can come out of the West though. Let them all beat each other up before we meet in the Finals
  19. I agree with the comparison. But, Imagine have 2 amazing defenders at guard. Why do we have to stop at Murray? We could have a true dawg identity on our roster with both.
  20. Players always have a say. Especially one as significant as KD. They CAN trade him anywhere, but if he doesn't want to play for that team, he doesn't have to suit up for them. Contracts don't mean anything for a player of his caliber. He will force his way out of any situation he doesn't want to be in. Teams know this too. Which is why any team would want to know from KD's mouth that he is interested in coming to play for them. So, it's back in his hands at the end of the day.
  21. Yup, especially since Trae cannot guard the point of attack anyways, he usually ends up on a bigger guy that is buried in the corner. This won't change with Murray. It just means we will have much better defender guarding the point of attack now. Murray would likely get the more ball dominant guard, and Hunter would take the next wing threat with size. Trae will always be guarding the worst of the other team's 1-3. That's what he does now. The only way that changes is if Trae get's better on defense or he get's moved. I'll let ya'll decide which is more likely to happen.
  22. We just drafted an athletically limited (potential) shooter in AJ. Why would we want Harris?
  23. Bogi’s knee worries me. Nothing against the guy (other than defense) but I would want to move him too. Gallo for contract reasons and Bogi for injury concerns are the 2 guys Im ready to off load. I agree on bringing back Wright. I also am ok with moving JC but only in a move for a player. Not a salary dump trade
  24. That to me is directly related to winning and marketing. Right now, Trae is carrying that flag for us. He is the reason we get the few extra National TV games that we do. His on court antics are what drives up views and viral internet clips. That increases interest in him across non-Hawks and even non-NBA fans in general. I have a female coworker who doesn’t even watch basketball AT ALL and she knows who Trae Young is. She is mainly interested in the giant engagement ring that he gave his fiancé that trended on IG, but she knows who he is. Season Ticket and merchandise sales are the biggest revenue boosters for individual franchises. Most other revenue tends to be shared across all teams. I know for a fact we are selling more jerseys because of Trae. I also know that those tickets for the ECF last year were through the roof. The hype surrounding the Atlanta Hawks had never been higher. Trae literally was box office. I imagine if we can maintain a high level of success, our value as a franchise will raise during Trae’s time here. Prime example. Golden State was a joke of a franchise in a broke city whose government does not want to financially support sports franchises . Curry gets drafted in 09, 13 years later they are one of the most valuable teams in basketball. They have paid hundreds of millions in LT over the years and are happy as pie to do so. The day Curry retires, they will likely go right back to being cheapskates again. Ressler can and should be ok with spending money as long as it means we can do great things on the court. He will be rewarded handsomely in the end
  25. I agree. That short roll option with JC to Capela is always there, and is exactly how you punish teams inside when we have 2 PnR threats on the court. I am also a huge fan of the 2-4 side PnR with Kev and JC. It was very effective in limited use in 20-21. It is a good counter when defenses jam up the strong side.
