  1. Yes, he can get busy in the low-mid post. Nice little hook shot, up and under. Can up fake and put the ball on the floor, pass out the post, etc… Kaminsky is similar in skill to Gallo except that Gallo was a better shooter overall and was great at drawing fouls. Defensively, Rebounds, and even passing all favor Kaminsky. Gallo is also more of a go-to option whereas Kaminsky is not, but he is solid and efficient in his more limited roles. Im always pulling for JJ, but Kaminsky is a nice option to pair next to OO because they can swap out 4/5 with offense for defense between each other.
  2. After 3 seasons it’s safe to say 2 of the squawks faves in 2019 draft turned out to be straight up busts. Jarret Culver, Sekou Doumbouya
  3. This is another one from after the game. It’s very ironic how we drafted Cam’s hometown rival after we just traded him. The way they describe each other says it all. Martin says Cam looks effortless on the court. Cam says Martin plays with a lot of heart. I’ll take heart please.
  4. I agree. I feel bad because I only want to root for the drafted guys, but he has played well at every opportunity for us.
  5. Today’s game snuck up on me. I just started recording halfway through. Would love to end with a win.
  6. I hate that kid just because of this and it isn’t even his fault. Cost my boy the chance at a gold medal.
  7. That part about Dre hits home. Every time we have one of these mystery injuries it ends up lingering on much longer than anyone anticipated and ends with a “non surgical “ procedure that keeps them out even longer. The kid will play at some point and then get held out again just for us to find out next summer he needed surgery after all. I wish they would stop being so precautious and just be aggressive with treatment to start the rehab clock instead of kicking this down the road. Coincidence that we went ahead and gave Martin a guaranteed contract who happens to play the same position?
  8. Warriors have made a living as of late developing late round wings that don’t have one elite skill, but very well rounded games. Martin has the desire to defend. He has good size, and can DPS. You continue to develop all of those skills and you have yourself a good NBA player.
  9. Health. Plain and simple. I’m just tired of the whole “when so and so gets healthy we will be better.” I want guys I can count on to play. Bogi is rehabbing, AJ is not off to a food start. We hope Dre can stay healthy. I like Rose, but Clarkson is more reliable and younger. He could give us multiple seasons with this core group and build an identity.
  10. Yeah they would have to make a mercy rule exception that allows it.
  11. Clarkson is the best player on that list right now. He would round out our bench unit for sure. Our scoring would be extremely guard heavy, but he would give us insurance while Bogi gets healthy. Nance and Theis would give us the type of size and savvy that comes in handy in the playoffs, but I don't see a reason the Pels would move Nance at 9mil expiring for Harkless 9mil expiring. Nance is the better player for the same price and length. Theis is a bit more realistic if not overly exciting. Ross if healthy would be nice but that hasn't been the case the last couple of seasons. I like Pat Bev but I just don't know if he fits here. Ideally our backup "PG" is really an off ball guard with some height since they will either play next to Murray who will run the point or Trae who is tiny and runs the point. I think based on one of the initial rumors we heard this offseason about wanting a bonafide scorer off the bench, you would have to assume a guy like Clarkson would be very enticing.
  12. So, obviously all of the big chips we previously heard about are out of play such as Ayton, Gobert, Simmons, etc.... A lot of the medium chips that could have helped are out of play like Brogdon, Warren, and others. So who could we be looking at that makes anywhere from 9 mil to 17.75 mil (Harkless + Midlevel) that we previously were not connected to? The only "holes" we have would be a backup PG or Forward, but of the bucket getting variety. I think a vet scorer with size is probably more important than another guard. I am interested to see who we are looking at.
  13. My guess is strategic purposes. If all 15 are allowed to be active then there would be no need for transparency about injuries and who is or isn’t actually available that game. The whole team could be listed as active despite 3 or 4 guys finishing with a DNP-CD when they had no intention of playing them in the 1st place. I think there was always consensus that you only really needed 12 players on a roster night to night, but the league has grown with talent so now it 13. I think they are realistic that it’s hard for 15 players to actually touch the court in a meaningful game, but they still want to have a pool of players on a roster to account for injury or rest, and more recently Covid. The active/inactive thing forces a coach to say here are my official 13 available bodies tonight. Maybe I still wont play all of them, but if someone plays it will be from this list. And it eliminates the need to worry about the inactives coming in for strategic moments.
  14. Ahem….. Pulling for the kid. He is a basketball player. Stay aggressive.
  15. Facts. He was not deadly enough to settle for 3’s the way he did. He had the height and length to score over his defender in the paint but rarely got to the rim. It’s like players forget the part of the analytics that say shots at the rim are just as valuable as a 3 pointer. I love a guard that gets downhill and doesn’t mind contact. Defenders actually have to defend against that.
  16. Cam used to do that too. Focused more on looking good than playing good. He succeeded too. Had some of the prettiest bricks and turnovers I ever saw.
  17. So do we still suck or…. Im boxscore watching until I get home. Glad y’all are turning around on Martin. I wish he had a few assists though, he struck me as having some playmaking to his game. I can comment more once I watch.
  18. Such an odd rule but I think it is a mechanism to guarantee a certain amount of players will have jobs
  19. No Griffin, why even care? SL is a big bust this year
  20. I agree. Clint missing both bunnies AND free throws made him a huge liability on offense. And, lowkey, people don’t talk enough about how he gets schemed away in the playoffs even going back to his Houston days. I think OO gets way more shine now if Clint remains which is a huge plus compared to him losing playing time or being moved out just for us to add Ayton. In other words, I’d rather have CC and OO for 48 mins than 1x Ayton for 30+ mil a year.
  21. Rumors + poster's opinions: Hawks were shopping JC and teams were not interested in him because of his contract. We are still actively trying to move him before the season. JC is unhappy and wants out of Atlanta. Landry + Reality: Teams keep calling us about JC but are not offering enough for us to actually bite on a trade. We are happy to keep him unless someone can blow us away. JC loves his Hawks family and has been professional the entire time.
  22. It's about Trae for me. If he wants Clint, there is no need to even entertain Ayton unless for an unknown reason he wants both, which I don't think would work on the court or on the payroll (50+ million on 2 centers is a bit high, no?) Clint is a really huge impact for his price tag. I do think that Ayton's skillset would take our team to another level though, regardless of the defense drop off. He is not a max player however. It all goes back to Trae though. If he wanted Ayton, I would be down for it.
  23. It remains to be seen how good our All Star duo is, but I will say this, the next best players; JC, Dre, Clint, and Bogi can each ball out in a major way when they are on. I would love to see that engine finally click for everyone at the same time. I guess what I am saying is that we have a "Big 3-by-comittee" of 4 guys who can provide star level production any given night. In an ideal scenario, I think Dre takes a leap as another go-to guy. Clint dominates the glass and protects the paint at an elite level. Bogi becomes an elite 6th man with the offense going through him more, and JC fills in all of the gaps, providing the energy, hustle and timely highlight reel plays on both ends. This happens, and we wont miss having that "3rd" star.
  24. I think we are making too much about the luxury tax. Landry Fields made it known that they are well aware of it, and unless we clearly over-exceed expectations oit of the gate in which case we push more chips in, we will likely fall under the luxury tax this season to preserve a year as a repeat offender. https://www.nba.com/news/qa-hawks-gm-landry-fields-dishes-on-dejounte-murray-more-offseason-changes
  25. Not able to watch at the moment but this shot chart does not paint a great picture. Zero made 3 point shots before half? Edit* zero made shots outside the paint! Yikes
