  1. My point is, we are focusing on the wrong things. JC and his contract may be like the 5th or 6th item down the line of things we need to address. But you choose to make it Defcon 1 as if we are being held hostage by him. It’s not his fault Kev can’t stay attached to his man off the ball. It’s not his fault Clint can’t make FT’s. It’s not his fault Dre keeps getting hurt everytime he starts to look like himself again. But yes, before part 2 of “The Conundrum” comes out, lets make another JC thread because we don’t already have enough.
  2. The stand pat crowd made an appearance. My point is basically in-line with the thinking that our team is way less flawed as is than using JC as a scapegoat. If anything, it proves the importance of a healthy locker room, which is another reason you want JC around. We are talking about 1/5 vs 1/4 PNR when clearly the biggest issue has been team chemistry and turnstile defense on the perimeter. And yes, part of me IS hoping to sidetrack the discussion.
  3. Idk why but I just feel the need to post this right here: 20-21 Hawks Regular season With Cam: 10-16 (.385) Without Cam: 32-16(.667) 21-22 Hawks Regular Season With Cam: 20-29 (.408) Without Cam: 23-10 (.679) That’s with the same injuries and covid issues on the roster as everyone else. Blame whatever you want, whoever you want, but that is pretty consistent correlation to a guy who reportedly did not want to be here. I just don’t get the obsession with focusing on JC when there are plenty of other scapegoats to go around. JC does not single-handedly hold us back from anything .
  4. The obsession with JC……. Here we go again.
  5. I wish that we had the type of culture where it wasn’t even a question if a young guy was going to learn how to play defense during his time with us. Like, if we drafted a dude with weak D (no pun) but we all could say confidently “Well, knowing coach ___, he ain't got no choice BUT to pick it up on the defensive end.” And we all believed that was the case. Instead, we really don’t know what to expect. Most of our current players are capable defenders who just don’t come out locked in on that side of the ball. It’s hard for any rookie to grow next to vets who don’t lead by example. Good Luck AJ
  6. Still listening , but I just want to say that regarding the Bucks, we were winning and about to be up 2-1 before Trae went down. And we blew them out without Trae and Giannis only playing 3 quarters in game 4. My point? Giannis vs JC wasn’t a deciding factor in that series. Bucks closed us out without Giannis on the floor for 2.25 games. In general however, yes, he is a tough cover for JC. He is not considered one of the top 3 basketball players in the world for no reason. Clint can’t guard him either. Giannis is a unicorn, and it’s ironic that only another unicorn like OO can even remotely contain him. I don’t think that matchup is an indictment against JC at all.
  7. 1 time All NBA defense 1 time NBA All Star - we can argue semantics but he isn’t just another player in the league. He is a “rising star” if anything. Just what our rising superstar needs next to him
  8. Ya know, even Lebron James and his Lakers had a losing record last season. Worse than the Spurs even. Heck 2 out of his 4 seasons in LA have been losing teams. Is he not still one of the best players in the world? Surely you would consider him better than Murray right? And his teams are also pretty loaded with talent. You can't look at the Lakers and use their team record against Lebron, nor should you die on that hill with Murray and the Spurs.
  9. He has to grow up. Plain and simple. He shrunk next to competition at Duke, and he is unhappy with competing for playing time as a pro. He is more talented than any one of the wings we had on the roster, all he had to do was lock in and be consistent. He is the prototypical player fit next to Trae. Everything we are excited about in Murray, Cam can do too plus 4 inches of height, but he just can’t seem to put it all together. Sucks for us and him honestly.
  10. Damn that sucks when you have to return to your ex after no other options want you.
  11. They were teammates in the All-Star game, maybe he got a taste and wants the real thing Funny enough, speaking of the All Star game. I didn't realize that both years that Trae played he led all players in total Assists. That has to mean something to them that when Trae has stars around him, he doesn't mind getting them the ball. Just saying
  12. I see something in this kid. I will just go on the record with it now. He has an edgy style to him and has played his way from the bottom up in every situation he has been in. I don't see that changing now. He will eventually push himself in to the rotation on somebody's team some day. It will take time, but I will put my name in the hat for him now.
  13. I did google it too, but I knew it wasn't anything nice lol
  14. Policy aside, politics aside. He was really good at energizing his base, and he was great for ratings on every news network. Even viewers who hated him would tune in to watch what he did every single night. It was mind boggling the amount of texts my mother would send me about the man each day. I even told her, I think that you hate this man so much you might secretly be in love deep down. She couldn't do anything but laugh People either hate to love you, or love to hate you.
  15. When people hate you, that means that you are doing something right. If ain't nobody talking about ya, you ain't doing nothin' worth talkin about.
  16. Am I the only one who sees Danny Green when they look at AJ? I know we all would hope for more but I don't consider that a bad comp at all. Bow-legged, same sized, high release point. I can't not see it
  17. So is he healthy or not? I thought some people we complaining that he was still rehabbing from an injury.
  18. I wouldn’t say that. They share very similar traits in their games. Both play with patience, balance and vision. Both attack the paint off the dribble and can finish strong with each hand. Both have sneaky explosion to the hoop. Martin with just a little bit more ups with his ability to catch and finish oops. Martin shot 43% from college 3 while Mays was 32% in the NBA. Their FT shooting though tells you that Martin has some flaws as a 67% guy to Mays’ 88% Here is a term you like; Martin has a really good second jump especially on the offensive glass. He is an exceptional rebounder for a guard and in a totally different class than Mays in that regards. Both have passing chops that go under the radar but Mays does a much better job with turnovers as a combo guard compared to Martin as a wing. Martin can actually post up and get buckets. He already seals off his man better than JC. Defensively I have no qualms with either honestly, both are active and disruptive. Shooting and passing go to Mays Size and Rebounding to Martin everything else is pretty equal
  19. Worse case scenario Martin is a 6’6 Mays with a little more moxy to him.
  20. Martin is going to impress some folks. Depending on how other moves shake out, he doesn’t realize that he is supposed to be a scrub. He is going to catch a few vets off guard in training camp. He will force guys to practice with more intensity or get embarrassed. If Nate is a real one I bet he will see some of himself in the kid and how he approaches the game.
  21. Beat me to it!!! Tyrese was going toe to toe with Cam. Full bag of tools on him.
  22. Waiting for all the people to come in and say they knew we were targeting Griffin the entire time and this pick makes the most sense for is, yada yada yada
  23. Ya know. Instead of creating a bunch of holes in the roster trying make consolidation trades, maybe addressing our biggest/only weakness of defense at SG and keeping our talented starting Center and PF make the most sense after all. If we want to offload contracts just to clear space we have plenty of options that don’t include our team captains.
  24. I too wondered about this. If that’s how we felt then what the heck were we even doing. It doesn’t seem as if SA was shopping him around, so why would we have pursued something we didn’t think would work. It screams of the guy who says “you ain’t even that cute” after he gets turned down. Ya know?
  25. Shhh, don't tell @NBASupes Rudy Gobert Trade Rumors: Hawks' Interest in Jazz Star Has Been 'Wildly Overblown' ROB GOLDBERGJUNE 23, 2022 https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10039710-rudy-gobert-trade-rumors-hawks-interest-in-jazz-star-has-been-wildly-overblown
