  1. Quote: They didn't agree to spend millions and millions and be forced to sell at a loss a year later. I can see how they would be hesitant. They didn't get into this knowing that satan could possibly force them to sell at cost. Well if they didn't know that "satan could possibly force them to sell at cost" then they are very poor investors indeed. They signed the LLC member agreements.
  2. How do you know Bynum isn't the next Darryl Dawkins or Eddy Curry?
  3. Along that same line, if you are fouled in the act of shooting and miss, is that counted as a FGA?
  4. Looking at player profiles on NBA.com, if you project Mihm's minutes to Pachulia's, they would score and rebound similarly, but Mihm blocks shots much better. When you turn the comparison to Wright, it's no contest, statistically any way. When you increase LW's minutes to match Mihm, his scoring is far below Mihm's, his rebounding is slightly lower than Mihm, and again, he is not even close to Mihm as a shot blocker. I was surprised that Wright was such a poor shot blocker. I know you can't depend solely on stats, but I haven't seen Mihm play very much. If his stats are an indication, he would be an improvement over Lo. Think ZaZa who blocks shots.
  5. Quote: Are you assuming we don't turn around and trade or sign another player with some portion of the cap room made available when Al is gone? I don't really see what they would use the caproom on that will be of any significant benefit to us. If this whole delay is over an infusion of $3 million, then I don't have a lot of confidence that more money will be spent. Maybe they'll surprise me.
  6. I wouldn't waste money on either of them.
  7. Our owners spend some money? You gotta be kidding.
  8. Uhh, hello. I realize we don't "get" a trade exception. I was merely voicing my displeasure at the thought of coming away with nothing out of this. Pardon my sarcasm. We could have used a rebounder like Foster. Or Magloire. Oh well, you get the picture. I guess the purpose of it all is to save our cheap a@@ owners some money. We once again are a leader in caproom. Why tout caproom as an asset, when we never use it?
  9. Quote: I'd rather give a one year deal to Lorenzen Wright who at least can play defense and plays hard. Since when did Lo Wright play defense? If your definition of defense is 6 fouls in 15 minutes, then I guess Wright is your man. It is indeed sad if we can't do better than Lo Wright. He never was any good, and in case you haven't noticed, his minutes per game continue to drop each season, despite the absence of big men on the Memphis squad. Not a great endorsement is it?
  10. I just have one question. What jersey number will the trade exception wear? Maybe "cap space" and "trade exception" will slug it out over a jersey number.
  11. First of all, I don't know what GTFU means, but same to you. I remember many instances where Childress came out of nowhere to get an offensive rebound, and score. Smith may eventually be a better player one day, but the jury is still out. I'd trade Smith before I'd trade Childress. What exactly is it that you think is so special about Smith any way? Yes, he has a freakishly high vertical leap. There are a number of people with great athletic ability, but they are not all great players. He is a dunker. So was Cliff Levingston. So is Gerald Green. Do you remember Darnell Hillman from the old ABA days?
  12. I'm sorry, I just don't see Smith being any better than Childress. As far as Childress not being "in the same stratosphere", there just isn't a significant difference in the production between the two. Smith blocks shots, but other than that is nothing special on defense. Smith shoots a very poor percentage, and jacks up way too many 3's. I'd like to have Magloire, but I don't think he's worth any of the "young guns." Maybe I'm mistaken, but it seems to me that Childress was much more of a clutch player at the end of games. Childress has more "basketball smarts" than Smith, as far as I'm concerned. Plus he's not given to lapses in concentration or a questionable attitude. Bottom line for me is, I don't want Magloire bad enough to give up either of the Joshes or Marvin. Every team needs a good sixth man, and to me, they are worth their pay as well as starters, especially when they log similar minutes.
  13. I don't know if all the contract lengths fit within the Judge's 4 yr plan, because I don't think we can trust HoopsHype contract info. They say we only have JJ for next season. Nonetheless, I proposed a trade on Real GM (#3265619), which was accepted. Before you Marvin lovers have a cow, as Al doesn't show up on our roster, I had to substitute Marvin & Zaza in place of Al. Atlanta Trades: Al & Lue Receives: Magloire & Mo Williams Golden State Trades: Murphy, Pietrus & Taft Receives: Al & Lue Milwaukee Trades: Magloire & Mo Williams Receives: Foster & Tinsley (plus maybe a draft pick from Indiana) Indiana Trades: Foster & Tinsley Receives: Murphy, Pietrus & Taft (Salary cap fodder added as needed to balance trade.) What do you think?
  14. Quote: Let them decide what? He couldn't kick it to them to interpret the contract. That is his job not the NBA's. I am not sure what specifically you are proposing the NBA decide. I would imagine that the judge would need to consider whether or not the NBA board of governors would accept Belkin as the single owner of a franchise. If, as has been suggested here, Stern is not too thrilled with Belkin, it may become a very real issue.
  15. Quote: So I can imagine that he would make Bird/Nique a part owner. Since Nique aligned himself with Gearon (which he should have), I am concerned that Belkin may give Nique the boot.

    Grundy?

Grundy is currently playing for Dallas in the Las Vegas summer league.
  17. Just out of curiosity, when asked about your height, do you tell them your height with shoes or without. I always give my height, not the height of me plus my shoes. I guess I should start telling people I'm 6'5" instead of 6'3.5", because I seldom go without shoes in public settings.

    BELKIN WINS

"I have waited a long time for this moment, my little GREEN friend."
  19. Quote: I didn't realize Brenden Haywood only averaged 3 rebounds per game last year. Ugh If you look a little more carefully, you'll see that his rebound average in the playoffs was 3.x. In the regular season, he averaged 23.8 min, 7.3 pts, 5.9 reb, 1.32 blks. If you converted that into 36 minutes per game, it would read 36 min, 11 pts, 9 reb, 2 blks. We could definitely use Haywood in tandem with ZaZa.
  20. I don't know about that. He wouldn't pay Nash.
  21. But the fact that Chill is more of a complete player than Smith or Marvin is irrelevant huh?
  22. Bill, you got rid of the wrong Josh. I can't really see why everyone thinks Smith is better than Childress. Childress seems to be the one always scoring a clutch basket at the end of games. Maybe Childress will never be more than a complimentary player, but I doubt that Smith will ever be more than that either. Childress shoots a much higher percentage, thus he wastes fewer shot attempts. Smith plays mediocre man to man defense at best.
  23. They have good young talent, an excellent head coach. How is that "derailed?"
  24. If we are including players from the past, Dave Cowens (6-9 good offense and defense, good rebounder, not a shotblocker), Wes Unseld (6-7 "the Oak Tree" good offensive and defensive player, good rebounder, not a shot blocker though), Clifford Ray (6-9 great defensive player, good shot blocker, not that great on offense - kind of like Ben Wallace) to name a few.
  25. How on earth did we ever manage to have all those winning years without the benefit of BK? I know very well that Babcock was inept. BK certainly hasn't shown that he is any more "ept." So we improve from 13 wins to 25. That is not anything to be particularly proud of. Our team did the best, although I know I'll get flack about it, when Kasten made the decisions, without Babcock. Kasten acquired Nique, Willis, Malone, Rivers, et al. If we only had a glimpse of what BK had in mind, maybe our concerns would be eased. However, it is hard to have a lot of confidence when we stockpile small forwards, and do not have a defensive minded big, nor a point guard who could free up JJ to do what he does best; shoot the ball.
