  1. Seems like we're always giving up cheap points at the end of the quarter.
  2. For what it's worth, Kerr was saying that he thinks the Hawks will finish third in the east during the NY/BKN broadcast.
  3. Only way Millsap might get traded is if we fall out of contention next year. Otherwise, it's not happening. Ferry contacted Millsap the minute free agency began -- he's staying here.
  4. Where am I, the overreaction thread? Ayón has been a pleasant surprise. I'm not saying he's the answer, but he's like a cheaper, coordinated version of Zaza. Ayón per 36: 12.8 points, 8.5 rebounds. Shooting percentage is 0.684, earning $1.5 million. Zaza per 36: 11.1 points, 10.3 rebounds. Shooting percentage is 0.360, earning $5.2 million. Certainly Ayón's shooting percentage won't hover around 0.70 all year and Zaza's will get better, but Goose deserves some minutes.
  5. A review of the past few months on HS:"Free agents never want to sign with Atlanta." Paul Millsap signs with Atlanta. "Let's trade Paul Millsap!"
  6. Lou Williams, Kyle Korver, Jeff Teague. Thought I'd be able to include DMC as well but he's listed at 6'8.
  7. I'm reminded of Ron Artest's "I'm too sexy for my cat" interview. Reporter: How were you able to come back after that surgery in just 12 days? Artest: Um, well, you know, just too sexy for my cat. I'm too sexy for my cat.
  8. That's an idea I've seen tossed around but I don't really follow it. Why Europe and not the D-League?
  9. It sounds like you have, more or less, answered your own question.
  10. Shredder, too, is based on a classic.
  11. Yeah, figured it was a brain fart. If you can hum the Linus and Lucy tune, you probably know the piano player's name. I'd imagine the same and hopefully he can have some fun with DMC as well.
  12. The character playing the piano is named Schröder. (Edit: Schröder with an o and an e -- this is autocorrecting.)
  13. Thanks man. My brother (who is also a member) told me about the Hawksquawk years ago and I mostly lurked after joining. I'm not sure what stirred me from my lurking slumber but one possible explanation is that JTB's enthusiasm is leaking across the internet.
  14. What, because they have Lebron and Bosh they follow BK's mantra? Any GM in the league would be happy to have Lebron. He's not a BK type player, he's just the best player in the league. Bosh is clumsier than he is athletic and putting Bosh at the three point line is like putting Josh out there. So the team with two of the top PER/WS players in the league beat an advanced analytic team in the finals two consecutive years. Notice a trend? (Hint: Teams consisting of stathead type players tend to win more games than other teams.)Three star players ARE three analytic superstars. Figuring out that you should put three star players on the same team is the same thing as figuring out that you should put three advanced stat superstars on the same team.
  15. First of all, I should point out that I'm not talking about winning championships. I'm talking about winning in a more general sense. My guess is that you'll suggest that we should only be talking about winning championships. Who led the league in PER and win shares in each of the past two seasons? Lebron. Dwyane ranked among the best in each of those categories as well. Again, a player can be a stathead's wet dream AND a superstar. The argument I'm making: Teams consisting of stathead type players tend to win more games than other teams. And your argument is this: Because the Utah Jazz did not win a championship while Millsap was on their team, there is no correlation between analytics and winning. That's a poor argument and it suggests that you don't know what the term correlation means.Once more, Ferry is not a BK clone. BK looked for players who are long and athletic but these traits are not correlated with winning.
  16. I think people don't give Chalmers enough credit. Lebron is the best player in the league and the advanced statistics reflect this. The other guys on that team who might fall under long/athletic are Bosh and Birdman. I'd argue that Bosh is as clumsy as he is athletic. They are undersized at center but I don't think they are a BK team.
  17. Again, he never offered Bynum a contract. Again, the Jennings/Ellis talk looks like it was about the Bucks targeting Teague, not us targeting Jennings/Ellis. Drew inherited a playoff team and had a solid winning percentage. Ferry replaced him with a guy who is very well respected around the league. I wanted Brooks in that deal too but we didn't squander the cap space. He signed players to contracts that look to be very team friendly.
  18. What do you mean? Dwight was going to get a max from Houston even if they were the only team he talked to. And what players have they added that he wanted?
  19. It's not bull man, there is definitely a correlation between analytics and winning. Statistics are unbiased records of what happens on the court. Star talent shows up in the advanced stats. A player can be a star talent and a stathead's dream -- these are not mutually exclusive categories.
  20. You're probably right about JJ keeping Deron in Brooklyn but he is just a role player at this point. His contract was going to be a major burden for us if we didn't trade him. We did battle injuries last year and, as it has been said many times, Drew was great at coming up with plays out of timeouts. I'd still say that getting to the playoffs with a playoff caliber roster isn't a huge achievement. Edit: Yes, Bud has never been a head coach but most people around the league loved the move and Pop seems to have a ton of respect for Bud. We didn't know that we would be a major player, but we knew that we could be a major player. Making moves just because you have money isn't smart. Passing up on certain players doesn't mean there isn't a plan. I'd pass on the Iggy contract, I'd pass on the Evans contract, and I'm glad we let Josh walk.
  21. There is no correlation between long/athletic and winning. There is a correlation between good analytics and winning.
  22. Yeah I'm just an idiot. I was too busy looking for an "edit" button that I didn't see the "modify" button.
  23. Can't figure out how to edit my previous post on Tapatalk, but I have one more point to add. Some people had no expectations last year, but many of us knew that we still had a playoff team. Drew making it to the playoffs with that squad was no surprise.
  24. Come on Diesel. JJ is, at best, the fourth scoring option on that team. Concerning your other post: He didn't fire Drew -- Drew's contract expired. Other than trading JJ and Marv, he didn't dismantle our team -- free agency did. The only player he left in the dark was Teague and I'm not sure Teague counts because we did extend a qualifying offer. We missed on one free agent. Who else did we target and miss out on?
