Danny Ferry is slowly destroying the Atlanta fan base..
supermariowest replied to willthepureshooter's topic in Homecourt
Agreed. This stuff is really getting old. Dwight didn't want to play here, we didn't offer Bynum a contract, and I think all of Jennings/Ellis talk was mostly about the Bucks targeting Teague. Losing Zaza hurts but we're still a playoff team and I'm looking forward to watching the young guys get some minutes. -
Teague has signed a 4 year / $32 million offer sheet with Milwaukee
supermariowest replied to Admin's topic in Homecourt
You can't average percentages like that but you're both right: Teague's overall shooting percentage is better, Jennings is better in certain areas when we're looking at conditional shooting percentages. -
Rumormill - Bynum for 3-36, player optin on the 3rd year

Eh, let's take it easy on DJ. If this is going down, we'll hear about it soon enough. -
Lets get Dalembert and Teague and see how far we can scrap
supermariowest replied to coachx's topic in Homecourt
I can get down with that. I'd say one of the Euros will be replaced by Mack. -
No, we traded away Joe and Marvin. Then we made the playoffs without them. Korver took it, Millsap took it, Carroll took it -- these are all solid players. Dwight didn't take it. Who else is refusing to take money from us? We're not blowing through our money but that doesn't mean we're whiffing. Millsap will be used primarily as a power forward. I have no idea why Utah traded for Sorry Marvin. To build a basketball team, you need guards (check), forwards (check), centers (check). You need some shooters (check) and you want your players to play fundamentally sound basketball (check). The notion that he has mismanaged things is laughable. At this point, the Teague/Jennings/Ellis noise is just a rumor. I've seen a lot of knee-jerk reactions on here since free agency started and they've all been in response to rumors.Edit: At some point, trading Horford might be the smart thing to do. I don't think we're there right now.

Right. I'm pretty sure we're on the same page here.
-
I don't think Ferry ever said he would do that. I think that was just a rumor. Unloading Joe's contract created flexibility which can be preserved. We missed on the two big names, but Ferry shouldn't get things done just for the sake of getting things done. Maintaining roster flexibility is a good thing.

Yeah and I've read some of Salinger's other work as well. I didn't hate any of it but I can relate to forcing yourself through an awful book. I'm hoping DF will hurry up with these moves (edit: as are we all).

We've signed two solid free agents (edit: and retained Korver) and most of the NBA talking heads believe we had a good draft. Rumors have linked us to the two Milwaukee guards. At this point, we have no idea what our starting five will look like next year. We don't know what position our best player is going to play. Throwing big money at Josh would have been a mistake. Evans and Iguodala both signed contracts I would not want the Hawks giving them. Harris and Hickson both signed good contracts but it's possible that neither player wanted to come here. Hickson, I believe, was opposed to playing center and so signing him would not have made much sense. (I have no link on the Hickson/center thing -- I read that bit on here but it makes sense given that he signed in Denver.) Calling this off-season a nightmare is like reading the first chapter of a book and claiming it is the worst book you have ever read.

Hawks to have a recruiting meeting with Andrew Bynum this week
supermariowest replied to GameTime's topic in Homecourt
Does this shed light on the Teague/Ellis/Jennings situation or no? -
Merged: Hawks are in negotiations with Monta Ellis. Not signed yet

Maybe this is like the episode of Arrested Development where Gob incarcerates himself to prove that he can escape 24 hours later? -
Zaza signs with Bucks - 3 years / $16 million
supermariowest replied to JohnnyCASH's topic in Homecourt
Several months ago, somebody asked how Zaza had performed in a game against Portland. One of the responses cracked me up, so I sent it to some of my friends. I don't remember who said it but it sums up Zaza perfectly. It went like this: "Zaza attempted to get a triple double on one play by muffing 2 open layups after another O rebound before bounce passing to Korver. Later on he attempted a scoop reverse layup after a drive from the 3 point line, missed. He did get on the floor for a loose ball against 4 Blazers and won. Oh, and the Portland announcers wondered out loud what his hat size is." Isn't that perfect? -
I'd be very surprised to see Ferry go after Ellis. Any ideas as to what our guard rotation will look like?
-
Well, there's always Zaza.

Atlanta has a new motto to consider: It isn't Birmingham, it isn't Memphis, it's Atlanta for heaven's sake.

*2013* Update: Hawks have agreed to deal with Paul Millsap
supermariowest replied to Admin's topic in Homecourt
It's just a rumor. And how do you know we would need Asik to score in Atlanta? At this point, we don't know who our starting guards will be. -
*2013* Update: Hawks have agreed to deal with Paul Millsap

When Asik is rumored to go to the Hawks it means that the organization is mired in mediocrity. When Asik is rumored to go to the Pelicans it means that it's time to jump ship and change your avatar. -
I read somewhere that Bynum said he wasn't going to work out for teams. That cracks me up. I don't think $12 million would cut it. I agree that somebody will pay him more than he deserves, but I think he has the potential to live up to whatever contract he signs assuming he stays healthy. I agree with Dallas being a good bet.
-
A couple of points: [*]I think they can get Josh without our help. They could create cap space by unloading Asik/Lin elsewhere. (I could be wrong here, but I don't think so. Somebody will correct me if I am.) [*]If we want to be one of the strong teams you mentioned, then we should jump at the opportunity to turn an unrestricted free agent into assets. [*]I can understand not wanting to help build a big 3 in your own division, but this team isn't even in our conference. If Dwight goes to Houston and if I'm correct in assuming DF and Bud do not plan on tanking, then it makes sense to send Josh to Houston in a S&T.
-
I don't think he's a Rockets homer, pretty sure he's just an idiot.
-
1. It's Asik, not Aisk.2. We're not going to tank. I'm not suggesting we go out of our way to get Asik, but it's a move I can understand if we do.3. It's Asik, not Aisk (!!!).4. Acquiring Asik would qualify as going the Bucks way? What? One guy says Ferry should be judged solely on this offseason and another guy says we should fill the roster out with the worst players in the league. Somebody is going to be unhappy.
-
We have only two guys with more than one year of NBA experience on our roster. Is that not starting from scratch? Asik (NOT AISK!!!) won't make us the favorites in the East, but he's an active rebounder and that's something any contending team needs.

I think Brooks ended up being in the Brooklyn/Boston trade.
