  1. spencer hawes is softer, worst defensively, and gets pushed around more than AL does at center despite being 7,1. I am one of the posters that isnt fond of AL playing center full time but I would rather keep AL at center than have spencer hawes be our center.
  2. If we dont approach towards contender status by the time he is a free agent. I think he will most definitely walk as a free agent to look for a better winning situation.
  3. not sure if yall remember this but AL wanted us to double down on the Center position and get Dieng too http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2013/6/27/4471082/nba-mock-draft-2013-espn-al-horford-gorgui-dieng-steven-adams
  4. There is no need to make another hate thread. His disappearing acts have been already addressed. This kind of game is nothing new to us.
  5. Anthony Davis is a boss but I dont trust the pelicans to properly build around him. They already did a horrible job this offseason by signing Tyreke evans and trading their 2014 pick and Noel (2013 pick) for jrue holiday to go along with another ball dominant guard like eric gordon and draft bust austin rivers. Talented but HORRIBLY built team.
  6. Dieng was definitely the more NBA ready prospect but I am not mad with the Bebe pick. Bebe has more upside because he is longer and younger but hes definitely going to take some major time to develop. It might take a season or two b4 he will be ready to play major mins. For a team that lacks talent and will have picks in the mid-teens for a while we have to go for the upside pick.
  7. harden didnt have a choice of where he wanted to go he was a RFA. He was going wherever OKC traded him to. OKC traded him to houston because they had the most attractive pieces and where more than willing to trade. There were rumors that OKC were talking to multiple teams that had lottery talent to trade harden for. 1 was to Toronto for Jonas (Lottery Talent), other was to the bobcats for the number 2 pick in the 2012 draft cause they wanted Bradley beal, etc... CP3 decided where he wanted to go because he was expiring next season so he had all the leverage. He gave the hornets 3 options because they all had top tier talent that he believe he could win with plus was a big market. The Knicks (Carmelo), Clippers (Blake Griffin), and Lakers (Kobe). The knicks had no trading pieces, the lakers trade got canned, so he went to the clippers cause they had lottery talent that they were willing to trade. So they ended up trading Gordon and aminu who were both picked in the lottery.
  8. Did some research and found out that Lou's DNPs has to do more with his defensive problems and than his offense. Remember when Bud's experiment to play lou exclusively at backup PG? Well it was an attempt to try to hide him defensively against the bigger guards. When I was watching the lakers vs OKC on ESPN yesterday I saw that since the all star break we were along with the lakers have been the worst defensive team in the league. Since the all star break our defensive rating is 113.0 which is tied with the lakers as the worst defense in the league. http://stats.nba.com/leagueTeamGeneral.html?MeasureType=Advanced&PerMode=Totals&sortField=DEF_RATING&sortOrder=ASC&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&pageNo=1&rowsPerPage=30&filters=&DateFrom=02%2F16%2F2014 Also I saw this article in the Hawks newsfeed that shows since Feb lou has been a HUGE NET NEGATIVE http://network.yardbarker.com/nba/article_external/atlanta_hawks_are_better_with_lou_williams_on_the_bench/15979981 So we cant just look at his raw numbers and believe he hasnt been detrimental to our team.
  9. Not only has he been awful offensively as we have all known but he has basically mailed it in on defense. SB nation destroyed him Full article here http://www.sbnation.com/2014/3/12/5488668/detroit-pistons-defense-breakdown-embarrassing-josh-smith here are the examples they provided.
  10. one of the real reasons why they didnt keep milsap or jefferson was because they had a young frontcourt Favors/Kanter/hayward whose rookie deals were ending very soon. They couldnt afford to pay milsap and jefferson along with those 3. they did the right thing by financially committing themselves to the young guns instead of jefferson/milsap who have already peaked as players.
  11. its funny because the management of the 3 teams that are behind us CLE, DET, NY are really desperate to make the playoffs but their teams are just too damn awful.
  12. if ferry is really trying to stealth tank he is going to have to go all out since the teams behind us are so damn pathetic yet they are desperate to make the playoffs. NYK doesnt have their pick, DET could lose their pick if they remain in the 9/10th seed, and CLE have made every move to try to make them a playoff team so they are obviously in win now mode. You can mark the next 2 games @GS and @LAC as losses but after that our schedule softens significantly. if we go .500 for the rest of the way we will be around 38/39 wins. we are going to have to go atleast 5 games under .500 to give the teams under us a chance to pass us.
  13. watching him dominate frustrates me because you never know what you are going to get from him. I thought we were done with having this roller coaster ride with our players. It frustrates me to the point where Idc if he sucks consistently or is dominate consistently I just want to know what kind of player I am getting from game to game. teague's attitude just reeks of the joe johnson era hawks so much that I still want him gone.
  14. For teague its nothing physical its all mental so he lacks toughness and resiliency big time. For AL his mental weakness isnt as big of a glaring weakness as teague but he does lack some toughness. Its alittle bit of physical ability when he plays the center position. I think the biggest thing al lacks is all around skill on offense. He has an elite mid range and thats it. He has zero shot creating ability. I dont see anyone in the league that has all 4 of these traits that isnt already a star that we can realistically get.
  15. LOL did we really have cartier martin playing center at one point in the game???? Is cartier at center really that much better than giving dexter pittman a chance?
  16. im sure when he gets here the coaching staff is going to be pushing him to develop a 3 point shot so can be our long term stretch 5 off the bench. He can fill in the pero/bonner role.
  17. im sure the first thing bud will try to do with mike is develop his 3 point shot and try to make him our long term stretch 5 off the bench. He can fill in the pero/matt bonner role.
  18. getting him wont effect our record anyway. Hes no longer a difference maker. Hes done and his knees are cooked. if you have watched this year you would of seen how awful he has been. The pacers couldnt wait to get rid of him
  19. i guess when you have as much debt as the hawks every dollar counts.
  20. this is why I dont critictize ferry for not making a trade at the trade deadline as much as others. It is much harder to complete a trade these days. More GMs are overvaluing their own assets. Unprotected 1st rounders are like gold and with more GMs finding gems in the 2nd round like chandler parsons and isaiah thomas, 2nd round picks have sky rocketed this year in value. Edit: also dont forget about how the new CBA is affecting everybody.
  21. dont understand the fascination of giving away future assets to guys who will be free agents this offseason just so we can delay our playoff exit by a few games. that is a terribly short sighted move.
  22. my gut feeling is that teague is staying for now.
  23. Never understood the fascination in hickson. Everyone wanted him and some were willing to give up a pick for him to play center. When it was obviously he wasnt a center. Portland had the worst paint defense in the nba last year with him at center and were in search of a real center just like us.
  24. I am more disappointed that he didnt draft a SG or a SF period when we desperately needed some more talent on the wings. with demaree consistently out with his hamstring problem our SG/SFs situation is even worst than last year.
  25. bud can only put players in position to succeed he cant make a player have the desire to compete if that player mentally doesnt want to. its similar to how the best teacher in the world cant turn a terrible student to a good student if that student has no desire to do any work in the class.
