  1. we really need a dynamic playmaking/scoring wing player, ala Leonard/Ginobili. Our wing players are mostly spot up shooters. Watching how we preformed down the stretch, the ball was in teague hands for like 20 secs of the shot clock. There is so much pressure on teague to create something because we have no other players on the floor that is much of a threat run a pick and roll as the ball handler, or drive to the hole. Most teams dont run post plays, and stick to the pick and roll because its extremely difficult to get the ball down low during crunch time, and players occasionally get MAULED and get no calls in the post during game deciding possession. The reason why we force feed it to millsap on the 3 point line on that final possession in regulation is because besides teague (who was being timid), he was the only threat to beat the man his man off the dribble with confidence. Also when we run some kind of screen action during crunch time, to korver or DMC W.E, teams can simple switch easily with little consequences because we lack players that can break down their defender one on one and we are undersized, so we struggle to get off good shots. We a rim protecting/ rebounding big! ala Tim Duncan I know we did a good job on the boards today but hear me out. Our defense is way to retaliate on stopping at the point of attack, and we lack the lockdown defenders to play that kind of defense which was why thabo was VERY IMPORTANT to our defense. Since we have no rim protection, when someone is beat, we have to over collapse/overhelp in order to stop the team from getting a layup, which leads to us giving up a league high in 3 point attempts! 25.8! https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/byteam?&cat1=Total&cat2=opponent&conference=NBA&year=season_2014&sort=339 As you can see, the SPURS are at the very bottom of the league in giving up 3 point attempts. Analytically your first priorities are to stop 3's and layups on defense because they are the highest point per possession shot. We will NEVER be a consistently good defensive team playing this overhelping/blitzing style of defense and giving up that many 3's. This style of defense can be easily exposed and game plan against. Ironically, this is the same style of defense that the LBJ heat used and the SPURS were able to exploit that in the finals to put up an offensive rating of 110! We need a big rim protector so we can stay home on shooters without the fear of giving up easy shots in the paint! Also getting a 7 foot rim protecting big will help us contain bigs like brook lopez, which is pretty obvious that no1 on this team has any chance to stop him or contain him since he towers our bigs. Thoughts?
  2. the reason I wasnt happy with those wins is because it foreshadows how the rest of this series will turn out, which looks very grim. These arent single elimination games, its a best out of 7 series. The fact that the nets literally tried to give this game away with missed layups, giving up multiple offensive rebounds, and poor time mangement, yet we couldnt take advantage should tell you something about this team.
  3. its the fact that we have yet to put together a complete game that has people concerned. Those two wins were very underwhelming.
  4. this has happened quite often actually, 03 Pop/Duncan, 05 Dantoni/Nash, 09 Mike Brown/LBJ, 11 Thibs/Rose. Any other year Bud hands down would be coach of the year but the fact that the warriors had such a ridiculous net rating and a historic point differential, I think Kerr will get it.
  5. i think it will have to be Horford or teague. They will both be matched up against slow footed defenders that have no chance in stopping them so it will be up to them to take advantage and remain aggressive.
  6. We do not atleast have a competitive ECF appearance. We have two very winnable series against the nets and Wiz/Raps, so we have no excuses as to why we shouldnt win both. If we go "same ole hawks" in the playoffs all the momentum we built up this season for the franchise will be destroyed. Respect from the national media starts and ends with playoff performances. Its time to put up or shut up.

    Go Pacers!

I blame the blazers and the wizards for resting their players against the nets for no reason. The basketball gods simply wanted the nets to make the playoffs.
  8. I think that would put us in an awkward position offensively since it takes away millsap's main strength offensively.

    IF....

Draymond green's main defensive weapon is versatility which is the make-up of the warriors defense. The key to the warriors defensive system is having long athletic defenders at every position,so they are able to blow up plays by switching, and don't have to worry about mismatches. its like what Billy Knight tried to do here but with smarts.

the chances of us getting draymond green are next to zero.
  12. these injuries are ridiculous, we basically need to be bubblewrapped until the playoffs start.
  13. Actually Spoelstra is a pretty bad coach. His lack of adjustments played a key role in the 2014 finals being so lopsided.
  14. there are 5 weeks left in the regular season so thats good to know, I expect him to be ready just in time for the playoffs. Thabo should be back soon so hopefully he can get his shot back in time for the playoffs.
  15. then why were we rumored to be so interested in a slow footed big like greg monroe?
  16. ray allen is a defensive liability at his age because of his physical decline but hes still a high IQ player that can still be a good team defender and know when to rotate and play our defensive scheme. Ray playing the korver role whenever korver isnt in the game would be nice. the thought of having both korver and ray allen in at the same time during end of game offensive possessions would insane and nearly be nearly impossible to stop if bud can come up with some genius screen plays that involves both of them.
  17. which ever team brooklyn plays against
  18. beat GS hands down. That would get us more attention and cement us as the number 1 team in the league. GS right now are beating teams at a historic point differential. I am even willing to lose the next 2 or 3 games if it would secure us 2 wins against GS.
  19. I agree. As Atlanta sports fans, We have seen too many regular season high hopes and playoff blunders . If we could just make the ECF I will be extremely happy, and anymore accomplishments after will be icing on the cake for me
  20. I say he would be mostly on the bench and probably wouldnt last here past his rookie contract.
  21. I dont see it. I think AL and Millsap will get in but the east has too many talented guards for teague and korver to get in IMO.
  22. I know, I dont agree with him either because there isnt any bigs talented enough in the east to offset the problems our frontcourt gives them offensively. Im just saying that I can understand why he would think that way.
  23. I thought hawksquawk didnt care what these media analysis said? Anyways I saw the segment. Kenny, Shaq, and EJ all said we were the real deal and were trying to try to convince Chuck that we were. So Chuck was the oddball with his opinion. The reason he didnt believe we would go far is because after he saw us get mauled on the glass by the pistons, he thinks we will struggle against bigger teams because of our small frontcourt which is a legitimate argument.
