  1. Why are you so bent on comparing the Hawks and the Pistons? It's really mind-boggling. But if you insist, I'll take the Hawks in that comparison. A group of vets led by Horford, Millsap, and Lou with Mike Budzenholer coaching is superior to whatever the Pistons roll out. The bottom line here is, you are thinking in terms of NBA 2K. Let's talk real life here, chief. Would the average user rather play with the Pistons than the Hawks? Probably. Is Josh Smith a beast in video games? Yes, but he will never lead a team out of the second round of the playoffs. He's probably rated higher than Millsap in 2K13, which is why you're probably going off about how much "better" Josh is. Monroe is a nice piece, but a lineup with Knight, Drummond, and J-Smoove will have such a piss poor BBIQ that an above-average (but not great) coach like Mo Cheeks won't be able to take them to the promised land.
  2. The Hawks are way more competent than the Bucks, given the fact that we did not just commit $40 million to OJ Mayo and Zaza Pachulia.
  3. Millsap >> Josh. Also, have you seen the Eastern Conference recently? Barring injury, we will make the playoffs. I assume you don't have any numbers to back up your claims, you're just making them up out of thin air.
  4. Very sad to see Zaza go, but 3/16 is WAY more than I'd ever consider giving him. Boy is Milwaukee running their organization into the ground. Larry Drew at the helm, and OJ Mayo and Zaza making $40 million over three years. Larry Sanders better get out of there ASAP.
  5. This team will go as far as any team Josh was on or will ever be on in his career.
  6. Slandering DeMarre Carroll is pretty much an insta-ban around here. Sorry, guy.
  7. Agreed. The late 2000s Thunder and the modern day Cavaliers are exampled of teams that have successfully tanked, but if they didn't hit home runs on all their draft picks, they would be looking like those perennial lotto teams you mentioned. The Cavs also have the wild card of possibly bringing LeBron back. To contend, the Hawks will have to build like the Grizzlies or Pacers. Make smart signings and create an identity of toughness.
  8. Just false. Check any stat. http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=1&p1=smithjo03&y1=2013&p2=millspa01&y2=2013
  9. I think the big point of the sign-and-trade is that it allows a player to get a 5-year deal. Seeing as Josh already signed a 4-year deal, I don't see any reason that a S&T would happen.
  10. Does signing Pek effect our ability to bring back Teague at all?
  11. Thanks for the memories, J-Smoove! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zqhvBc_NO4 But, I'll take Millsap for $9.5m/year over Josh for $14m/year every day of the week.
  12. LOL, "an Ivan upgrade." Millsap is A JOSH UPGRADE.
  13. I really hope to keep Teague around, hopefully this gets resolved.
  14. I really don't see the point of pigeonholing players into a position. The game is more fluid these days. Not to say I see the Hawks using many lineups with three bigs, but I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it.
  15. Missed the point. With the bare bones roster we have right now, an 8-seed at the very least is in the bag. We could definitely make some noise (a la the Pacers) when the roster is filled out.
  16. I would like as much as the next guy to avoid an "ugly" roster but the NBA is changing. This isn't NBA 2K, and we need to stop worrying so much about organizing the roster into a neat little PG: SG: SF: PF: C: format. On the Spurs (a team which, IMO, is a legitimate reflection of what Ferry is trying to build), a lot of guys wore different hats. Tim Duncan didn't fit neatly into the center role, but that's what he technically played in the Spurs' most common lineup (Parker-Green-Leonard-Splitter-Duncan). Of course you could say that Splitter was the center, but it really doesn't matter. Roles are more fluid. You need a guy who brings skills to the table that help your team win, and a good coach will find a way to get him on the court.
  17. Have you seen the Eastern Conference??? With Korver, Horf, Lou Williams, and Millsap, locking down an 8-seed is a piece of cake. Now I'm not saying that making the playoffs in and of itself is a huge accomplishment, as the Hawks have been there and done that.
  18. I'd be surprised if Gordon is still a Pelican in a year, and even more surprised if he plays a full year. Rivers is a fringe NBA player.
  19. You really can't find a team that is more in "treadmill mode" than the New Orleans Pelicans. They are going to be an 8-seed contender for a while.
  20. I think he is doing literally the best job one can do with this organization. If the Pacers and Spurs can take the Heat to 7, so can the Hawks next year, if not this year.
