From what it sounded, it seemed like all the Rockets had to do was offer. That makes a lot more sense that Lopez has to agree to the deal. Still, I would offer if I was Houston, even if I didn't want Lopez. It will make D12 to the Nets impossible, and the Nets will have to match the offer. As bad as it would be for the Nets to lose the ability to trade Lopez, it would be even worse for them if he walked away for nothing.

Houston should put in a low-ball offer on Lopez and force Brooklyn's hand, even if they have no intention of signing him.
  3. Brandon Jennings (PG/SG, just like Lou). There are a many other guys who are just a little taller that can play ball as well, and that "1-"2 height disparity doesn't make much of a difference
  4. Philadelphia has been taking heat for letting Williams go. The move by Atlanta has been getting praised as a steal. Let's break this down. You don't usually expect a player making $5m to produce at the same level as a player making around $20m. You could say the same for Ginobili. He still helped his team a ton. Most sixth men don't play a lot more than 30 minutes. He does shoot the ball well. What else can you expect out of a 6'1" shooting guard? I could see your point if we were paying him a ton of money, but we are not. For a player of his skill level, we got a pretty good deal.
  5. lol, Pape Sy and Keith Benson. I remember those guys.
  6. By this logic, you could say that Manu Ginobili doesn't really help the Spurs. Lou is a very efficient offensive player and a good signing for the Hawks.

I was really stoked for the possibility of a Dwight-Josh-CP3 trio, but if Dwight doesn't want to be here, then I don't want him on this team. He's a diva and he has proven to be a cancer when he doesn't want to play somewhere; he ran Orlando's season into the ground last year. I would rather have players who are fully committed to the Atlanta Hawks. And just because we don't have Dwight doesn't mean we aren't going to make a run at CP3 next off-season.
  8. I think there is something to be said for a "rag tag team" with a lot of heart and chemistry, as long as you have some All-Star caliber players (which we have: Josh, Al). The Mavs, Pistons, and even the Spurs had teams that fit that bill when they won their titles. Danny Ferry is bringing that Spurs model over here and I am excited to see how it works. This will be a fun team to cheer for against the stacked teams in the league.
  9. I know that the backcourt is starting to look really congested, but I really, really like all of these guys. They can all knock down shots, and they all have a lot of intensity and swagger. I will be sad to see one of them go if that's what the Hawks choose to do, but it will be for the best as there might not be enough PT to go around (unless you slot Morrow at SF, which isn't ideal).
  10. The Nets weren't going to do the deal if we absolutely demanded MarShon.
  11. I love his tenacity and swagger, but those are pretty much all he can bring to the table anymore. He had a PER of 3.3 in 64 games in '09-'10 and a PER of 4.3 in 51 games last year. It can't be put into words how bad that is. I like that he is aggressive on D and talks a lot of trash but even his defensive game has fallen way off.
  12. Right now the Clippers give him the better chance. After we sign Dwight, the Hawks do
  13. If we did that, and Dwight left, it would be 10x worse than LeBron because we lose all of our future picks, and are headed for 10-15 years of futility. At least the Cavs got a ton of future picks, in addition to the ones they already had. I could go for this deal if the picks are lottery-protected
  14. JJ deserves to have a banner. He was the face of the team when we transitioned from a cellar-dweller to a consistent playoff team. The stats and ASG appearances are nice, but I will always remember Joe for hitting huge shots like these.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxmGqHS647Mhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkkG5RStQh8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzx3052GRcshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYf1wnbdTrM
  15. I don't think enough cap space to sign Williams right now, and he won't be available in the upcoming offseasons because he is going to sign a long-term deal THIS year. Our free agent PG focus is on Chris Paul.
  16. Just speculating on what he meant. For our sake, I hope that "no" is the answer to all those questions. Plus, those players would all be near the max-contract level. Can't imagine they'd be able to pull that off.
  17. Also, thishttp-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=N90C-mdaVzQOK, that game was a little bit of an outlier, but can you imagine how tough a team with Josh, Rondo, and Dwight would be on defense?
  18. That's why I included Allen in the 2nd deal. Rondo is an elite PG. He is worth Horford and a pick. If the Celtics are willing to take less than that, good for us.
  19. There has been a lot of talk about reuniting Atlanta Celtics Josh Smith and Dwight Howard, and then bringing in Chris Paul. Here's what I'm thinking: why not bring in another former Celtics teammate, Rajon Rondo, in a trade? Here are a couple trade possibilities: BOS gets: Horford + a 1st rounder ATL gets: Rondo After this deal, we could deal Teague, OR BOS gets: Horford + Teague + a 1st rounder ATL gets: Rondo + Allen (sign and trade) Here's how this would benefit the Hawks: - Instead of giving up all our assets in a trade for a player who can walk after one season (Dwight Howard), we get a player locked in for several years. We can then pursue Dwight in free agency. - With Rondo, Josh, and D12 in the starting lineup, we would be the best defensive team in the NBA by far. If our next major move is going to be a trade, it should be for Rondo and not Howard, IMO. If we trade Al and Jeff for Dwight, and (for some reason) Dwight walks, we are ruined. If we trade for Rondo, in the worst case scenario (Josh and Dwight decide not to sign in ATL), we at least still have Rondo. Also, with former ATL Celtics teammates Rajon and Josh on one team, Atlanta becomes an even more enticing spot for D12 to sign!
  20. I actually think that it would be preferable to deal Horford for a true SF if we get to this point, so Josh can play PF. Maybe Andre Iguodala (Philly is stacked with swingmen). Gerald Wallace (and probably a pick) would be another good fit, but I doubt we make another deal with the Nets.
  21. If nothing else, D-Harris is a massive upgrade off the bench from Pargo
