And that's the reason why in fact the problem was him handling the ball. He is a slasher and a shoter. If there is no open lane to go staight to the basket he will take the three 99 out of 100 times. That's why the ball belongs in the hands of your point guard - unless you have a superstar...

And the defensive possession was the logical consequence of the offensive possession before. A three point shot has a higher chance for a long rebound and fast break, with the defensive bigs trailing. And that's one more reason why the call before was so terrible.... Darvin should spend a couple of weeks as a video analyst before returning to the bench...

I reviewed it and here are my observations: Dennis was 3rd back, Sap and D8 trailing. Dennis was on the weak side, but there were two Pacers and he guarded the one who got the ball 1st. Dennis is fast but even he isn't able to follow a touch pass in the corner so they got the wide open shot.

Did somebody ask Darvin why the hell he called timmy to handle the ball and do nothing than waiting for the clock and jack up a three? Is there any reason to do this? Tim is the better shooter but by far the worse ball handler? So why not giving Dennis the ball to get a good shot for two, a foul or at least an open three out of a drive by Dennis?

Nevertheless the game was wasted by this call....

I have only two questions about this game How long will Baze continue to start? Why called Darvin Tim to handle the ball on the decisive possession?

Since this wasn't the first time this season and every notable action was noted I misinterpreted it....

That's were we are now? Cheering about six minutes? Seems everybody needs something to be happy about... But let's not forget about the other 1614 minutes Kent played for the Hawks after signing that contract... But I do agree, Dennis tends to fade away on national televised games... But it seems he needs a tansition season to become really comfortable with his new role. But since he only makes $2.7M this year I'm looking forward to his next season to see if he can live up to his new contract. Baze hasn't so far...

The last time he was suspended was after his and Boogie's love affair. This happened in his 1st season and crushed his confidence really hard... Played awful afterwards... That's a problem all season. But why is it? Is it because there is less help defense from Dwight than from Al and players don't close out on the perimeter because of that?

Why wasn't Dennis on the floor that last play, especially after making the big shot before? So with Tim there was only one player on the floor who was able to (barely) get rid of his defender on the inbound. That limits possibilities that much. And what brings another shooter in Dunleavy when Tim isn't able to make a pass with everybody collapsing on him? This last play call was awful. So Bud joined the collective efforts to lose this game...

The difference is, there are lots of things to compete for in european sports. Example Bundesliga: 1st - Championship 2nd-3th - Qualification for Champions League 4th - Opportunitiy to qualify for CL 5th-6th - Qualification for Euro League 7th-15th - fight for 6th place or fight to avoid relegation 16th - still a chance to avoid relegation 17th-18th loosers, say goodby to first class competion (and TV money as well) And since relegation can ruin clubs forever, there is a lot to fight and cheer for in "Abstiegskampf" fight (against) relegation In America it's only Champ, Playoffs and maybe Draftpick. It seems for Americans the 2nd is the first loser - and this fits due to playoff system, 2nd lost the big game. While climbing to 4th place in the Bundesliga on the last game is happy as shit because you achieved something in the last game. If you lose the Super Bowl you are just the loser of one of the biggest sports events on this planet.

But nevertheless they eventually lost this game when they fell back from field goal distance on their drive with 4:40 to go and had to punt. Afterwards you always know better, but they would have won the game if they kicked for a field goal on their 1st or 2nd try. Seems insane to kick on 1st or 2nd down, but wouldn't this have been the correct choice? Ensure it to becomes a two score game again? Edit: they could have used downs 1 to 3 to run the clock down further before kicking...

Sudden death is really stupid in a game where a posession means that much. Sudden death is only useful for sports where possession changes often (so not football) and the chance for an instand score is low (so not basketball, handball, volleyball... ans somehow baseball too) that only leaves hockey and soccer (but not accepted in Europe) as suitable sudden death sports. The main problem is, that Americans seem to dislike the concept of a draw. It's all about winning. To avoid overtime execesses in regular season there is that stupid sudden death rule. Just let them draw in football without overtime in regular season and then give them complete 15min for overtime in playoff games.
