  1. 2. Moose wasn't that bad prospect. He looked quite okay in his 2nd season as a Hawk. But since then he didn't improve. He even declined a bit...
  3. Dennis only #10 in the league in touches? He needs the ball more often in his hands
  4. I wasn't following Basketball back then but looking at trade now: Trading for an expiring player without any chance to resign isn't very clever, especially if you... ...additionally send a 1st round pick to get him Since Nique's contract was ending there would have been cap space to sign Deke They destroyed a team on a run with a chance to win it all? Summary: Hawks lost their franchise player, a 1st round pick, reputation, possible championship and they got: NOTHING. Manning walked and cap space would have been there anyway. So this may have been one of the worst trades humans generally ever made...
  5. Some 1st thoughts I would especially love to get rid of Baze (due to his price tag) I doubt Toronto would do this trade (how many 1st round picks we have to offer?) If Hawks trade Howard they won't sign a big Free Agent the next 10 yrs But the main problem is DeRozen shot 26.6% from 3 last year (28.1% carrer) - that's ridiculous and only works if he's surrounded by 3-pt shooters - what as we all know wouldn't be the case here... WTF I knew about his 3-pt weakness but this numbers nearly made my eyes falling out of my head when I watched his stats... So I'd say: NOPE!
  6. Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron shitting his pants in the clutch...
  7. Now @kg01looks smart instead of me...
  8. Yeah, facts are the same. But you see No improvement, drop in assists. I read it Improved shooting (2pt, 3pt, FTs) less turnovers in more minutes vs better competition. The real question of this thread is. Are you a sadist who likes to torture us with your strange statements or are you a masochist who likes to get punished for that same statements... I really have no idea... Option three could be @kg01 instructed you to punish me by bashing Dennis because I owned him more than once recently by having the better gif... But since you already did this before it must be the SM thing... yes @kg01, just kidding you can stay the king of gifs, I enjoy being surprised by good gifs more than searching for them
  9. Yeah check your facts, you copied baskeball-reference's per 100 possessions numbers
  10. @DieselMore efficient and less turnovers. It's really hard not to attack you personally because you are obviously trolling. By the way Dennis never gives the ball to Dwight and he only gets the ball from rebounding...
  11. Per 36... Even if it were true... what's about better competition as a starter and a significant rise of minutes? I'd say matching per 36 numbers is a good thing in one's 1st year as a starter... But what do I know... "Doesn't really run the offence" - If I only got €1 every time somebody used this phrase without further explanations...
  12. You know about the team options on 3rd and 4th year? Or did they change that in the new CBA?
  13. Offseason is long and I fear that there will be a lot bullshit discussions like this here... That pass from Parker is an example for great playmaking skills? Run into three defenders and somehow throw the ball back? Dennis can throw fancy passes, he did this even in his backup days. He didn't often in the playoffs, but that's how he managed to average only 1.7 turnovers a game. Something I would bet nobody, really nobody here would have even dreamed of! Reason #1 for making less kicks on his drives: Dennis is much faster than others and often gets to the rim, so when he beats his man on the drive to the basket and has an open layup, who expects him to kick the ball? You only kick the ball if there is no good chance to finish yourself. Giving up a layup for an assist would be an empty assist Reason #2 the guys waiting for the kick couldn't hit a barn this season! Dennis taking ill advised 3pt attempts? He made 42.5% of his threes (2.8 of 6.7) in the playoffs. Tim (26.2%) and Baze (29.2%) together 3 of 11 per game... I dont have numbers but for my eyes it looked like Dennis passed more often into the post than he did in the regular season Does it matter when Millsap lost some percentage on threes? Watching only him probably not, watching the difference of three point shooting of the combined starting 4 and 5 the answer is: YES! Whether Dwight's positives can match this is another question Dwight looks like he doesn't care very often. During the regular season everybody said: "He'll deliver in the playoffs" but he didn't. Either he was hurt or he is unprofessional and shouldn't be paid that much to be that reluctant on the court Like I already wrote somewhere else, Dennis still has a lot room for improvement, but blaming him for the setback in the playoffs is stupid. I hope that I now can keep my fingers off the keyboard at least until draft day
  14. Man was I hyped when Dennis hit that 3 to cut it to 3 again... But Wall really has become a player now... I hate to repeat it, but Baze lost us the series and Bud lost it because he kept him in the game... Several players could have made us win this series (THJ, Dwight, Baze, Ersan, Moose), but if Bud wouldn't have played Baze and gave his minutes to the rest of the rotation we probably win this series. Was this really a last try to justify this contract. That's why you have to have a real GM. Then the coach doesn't has to care about such things... Shoutouts to Millsap, Dennis and Prince. But nevertrheless you can't pay Sap $30M for multiple years, considering his age you could only offer him $60M, he can decide how many seasons he wants to play for it. So I'd be okay wit $30M for 2 years or $20M for 3 years. But some scrub team will offer him 25 per for 4 years. And since this will be his last contract, he will take it.
  15. I had an, at least for me, quite long post in last game's topic, why I don't expect the Hawks to win this series. But now - eleven hours before tip off for game six - I don't want to think about why it's unlikely we win the series. I'm already hyped for the game and I only want the Hawks to win this next two games. You all know my main reason to follow the Hawks is Dennis, but I really love to see him win with this team. And I enjoy it to do that together with the complete fanbase of 5 to 20 guys and gals in the chat! So now I'll write what I hope for tonight Millsap going to work again! THJ finally getting hot and hit 50+% on threes, with at least 10 attempts Dwight remembering how to handle his former backup and put up 15+ and 15+ again Prince showing again why he'll be Hawks starting SF the coming years Baze living up to his contract Ersan playing again like he did early after his trade to the Hawks the rest of the bench getting some burn, because the starters can rest after 3 qtrs An of course Dennis having another stellar game putting up 10+ assists, hopefully without turning the ball over And to all of you watching the game in person: MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!
  16. I'm really happy about Dennis not turning the ball over. Hope he can carry this into next season.
  17. Bud himself seems to do so, otherwise he wouldn't have shipped Jeff and paid Dennis...

    New Nickname alert

Prince the Baller (pronounced ball-er, like Prince of Bel-Air)
  19. The 1st games we got tons of free throws. That kept us in the game the first two road games and was quite helpful the 1st home game. But they adjusted to our offense and are able to defend us better and foul less. Have a look at the numbers: Fouls on the Wiz / FTA for us / FT made in the games this series 25 F / 39 FGA / 32 Pts 29 F / 38 FGA / 33 Pts 28 F / 32 FGA / 19 Pts 25 F / 25 FGA / 19 Pts 20 F / 21 FGA / 14 Pts Adjustments! That's what playoff basketball is all about. And IMHO defensive adjustments are much easier to make because it's about getting used to the opponents offense and hustle. But offensive adjustments are much harder to make because that's more about talent and skillset. Over the series Wiz made some adjustments. They foul less now They found a way to close the paint. Dennis yesterday scored only 5 2pt baskets and I'd say no more then 3 at the rim and there he had to make ridiculous high of the backboard attempts to make them fall. No easy buckets at all for Dennis anymore. They found a way to slow down Millsap (without fouling him to much) So they took away the regular offense of our main guys. So lets recap the games again We could stay in the game despite playing bad because of Wiz foul trouble and our FTs Quite similar to game one Big win, but we only had an early run and killed them in the first. No seperation at all after that. Even game in 2nd to 4th First signs of Wiz slowing down Dennis, but the bench kept us in the game. Good game by Dwight. Unexpected great game from Calderon, finally one good game by Baze and ridiculous great last 4:30 from Dennis won us this game. Sap had good first three qtr. Wiz stopped Dennis usual offense and forced him to take the outside shot. Dennis took the challange an kept us in the game. I may be Dennis biggest fan on this planet but even I know that's nothing you can expect from him leave alone expect him to repeat that instantly... I don't expect the refs give us that much FTs again, I don't expect Dennis to repeat his heroics, I don't expect Calderon to go off again, I don't expect Howard to have a game 4 like again. A sub par game of Beal AND Wall could help too, but I don't expect it. Could one or all of this things happen again? Sure, but I don't expect it. Yes we may win at home. And yes we even could win on the road, but it gets harder every game and our starters plus two bench players should all have an at least good game. Unfortunately this didn't happen all season yet...
  20. For sure you always can blame the GM for overpaying and the coach for playing bad playing players. But at the end of the day I expect a veteran NBA SG/SF to hit at least one of 5 partly wide open threes, no matter how much he earns. One very big differences yesterday was their supporting cast hitting at least some open threes, ours didn't. On at least two occations a wide open corner three was missed by the Hawks and answered seconds later with a made wide open corner three by the Wiz. You do the math... The hawks shot 9 out of 31 yesterday from three. That's 29%. Bad? Let's have a look on the numbers without Dennis's shots (who hit the three well above his abilities yesterday) then the Hawks made 4 out of 25 - THAT'S 16%, and yes Dennis hit more threes yesterday than all other Hawks combined. By the way the Wiz only shot 29.2% from three too... I don't see the Hawks winning this series anymore. Hawks had three chances to steal a game on the road. We might win at home again - something I wouldn't bet money on - but I have no idea how we could counter them again. We were able to strike in various ways before but now we don't get the calls, I doubt Dwight can squeese another big game out of his body, Wiz already kept Dennis out of the paint or at least well contested (we only had a chance yesterday because Dennis dreamed of being Steph the night before)...
  21. Sap played well overall but at the end it seems WSH figured Sap out, but he kept attacking and taking well contested shots. I know he made such a shot last game but did he relly expect to repeat that in another cluch situation? Even mor than once? It seems him wanting to earn a max deal was also part of losing this game. Why weren't the Hawks taking the easy two and start fouling then? They were down four and wasted all the time left to get a look for a 3 which wouldn't have helped with under a second to go... Only 19 bench points... ugh Bazemore doesn't only costs the Hawks $70M, He also costs them this series... We lost 3 winnable game sin WSH... That will hurt us... Dennis' best game of his career so far... wasted... I don't expect him to repeat such a performance next game, so if nobody steps up this series will be over...
  22. So my avatar suggestions for you and the next playoff rounds are: Al, Kyle and Zaza
  23. Wow this was a ride. Finally Baze did something to earn some of his contract. I'm really looking forward to see Prince develop. Heck of a playoff run for the rook! The bench stepped up tonight after Sap and Dennis struggling early. But they stepped up late and Dennis scored 10 of the last 11 Hawks points during the last 4:57...
