Kyle Anderson to work out with hawks thursday
skimaskway23 replied to GrimeyKidd's topic in NBA Draft Talk
I watch a lot of ucla and I can tell you this kid got by on length. He doesnt play big as he is not strong. Im telling you, that nba defenses will expose him. He will be left open and he not fast enough to take advantage of close outs. Coach bud will make anybody we draft a good passer. Our team is deficient in other areas. If we blow this pick with all this talent available it will set us back. Give me lavine, young, harris, stauskas, hood over him. I only take kyle over gr3, saric, and warren -
Name the 5 guys you want the Hawks to take at 15

This kyle anderson love is out of control. He would be good on a team with a score first pg. We are top 5 passing team and you want to improve our passing? Lol we need better finishers. We have no wings that play above the rim. -

What was the point of drafting a rondo type pg if we are going to take the ball out of his hands? Kyle isn't as effective off the ball. -

This Kyle anderson love makes me cringe. If we make that choice it will make the list of worst hawks selections ever. There are surer better players in the draft. This kid playing the 4 is absolutely laughable. I watched a lot of ucla alllll season long and if take adams over him. -

Please do not draft this bum. He is slow as hell when we need athleticism. the rebounding ability is overstated because he was rebounding over shorter guards whereas that wont be the case in the nba. He is too weak to even be realistically capable of playing the 4. His jumper is slow and I dont trust it against nba competition. this guy has bust written all over him. Our passing is fine as it is, lets get athletic this summer. We were frustrated with josh taking the ball away from teague, lets not get another one especially when our future pg is supposed to be rondo like. -
Weighing the advantages/disadvantages of blowing up the roster now

I didnt know horford was really being targeted with the #1. I thought that was just us speculating. I would make that trade in a heartbeat. -
CNNSI.COM has us drafting James Young @ 15
skimaskway23 replied to Wurider05's topic in NBA Draft Talk
Smart and teague backcourt sounds terrible tbh. James young has the kawhi leonard length coach bud likes and a natural stroke from outside. In terms of fit and being unselfish, young is great for us -
Ennis will be a good player in this league and he measured out very similar to damian lillard. I dont think he shoots as well as lillard nor do I think he will come close to his level. Ennis is solid at everything and especially his decision making but he isnt particularly elite at anything. I'll keep young schroe

aaron gordon would be interesting at #8, but I just dont see him passing the celtics AND lakers. Lakers really could market him as anti-blake griffin in staples haha. It would be a pipe dream but if we got that 8th pick for teague or millsap. And got to keep the 15th pick, we would have so much potential if we could haul aaron gordon and lavine/stauskas. Who would you take with 8 if gordon was gone?

Unless we can package that 8th pick I dont really care for it. There are power forwards slotted there and mcdermott is redundant when we got korver, we need athleticism. 15 is wear all the swingmen will be. We are fine where we are. Dennis didnt show anything last yr but it was expected at 19 yrs old. He still has elite potential and I can see how some would balk at the idea of trading him.

oh I hate the knicks to my core, they wouldnt have took it as far as we did tho. seriously, wiggins shouldnt be subjected to that organization. At the same token, better them than lakers or celts

So if we missed the playoffs for the cavs, we woulda had their odds. Smh this is crazy

Another year, no legit prospects rumored to come to Atlanta

if we were able to land love in a trade centered around millsap, would that be enough to lure melo? teague korver melo love horford Coach bud could make that work. -

Zach Lavine- Most potential and normally I wouldnt want a development player with this team but I have faith in this coaching staff to bring the beat out of Lavine. Him and Teague in the backcourt would be lethal athletically. He fills the danny green role until he can handle more duties. James Young- I personally watched him closely since his 1st game at Kentucky and I can tell you he is clutch. Coach cal almost always went to him in critical moments. He has great length and has good all around skills but with his stroke, he can develop into an elite shooter. Very young and longterm seems like he could fitwith dennis well. Nik Stauskas- defensively needs work but no worse than lou. Measured out with good size and his shot is probably the best of my 5 as of now. Beast in the pick n roll which will work well with Horf. Surprisingly athletic and good finisher. Great handles. Rodney Hood- im on the fence about this guy. Shoots well but his short arms make him susceptible to turnovers and limits him defensively. Hard worker tho so I think he could get better. Should be better in the NBA. Glenn Robinson III- this guy I cant figure out. Ive watched him for 2 yrs. He has prototypical size and I have him here because we need a boost of athleticism. He just didnt display the ability to get his own shot and just didnt have any dog in him, no pun. He screams dorell wright to me. Having said all that, I was impressed with him at the combine and he seems to have worked on the jumper. -
My guys in order for 15: James young Nik stauskas zach lavine rodney hood gary harris GR3

I don't but it. Sacrifice our flexibility for an oft injured 15 million dollar center? Yea right. The idea of horford at the 4 trying to score against guys quicker than him is hilarious. Stay at the 5 and continue to draw the centers out and go to work. We should have a backup center that we can throw at bigs like gasol and hibbert but horf playing the 5 full time is a no no.

Potential "Diamond In The Rough" FA candidates
skimaskway23 replied to GameTime's topic in Homecourt
Nice thread idea. Jodie meeks and marshon brooks intrigue me the most. Marshon needs more confidence and better coaching, but i think he could take lou will's role and flourish. -
absolutely not. He is a point forward that is slow as hell. We dont need anyone taking the ball out of teague's hands. Kyle is not good off the ball and too weak to finish in the nba. He will get a gm fired.

Now this is just me thinking out loud with my hawks brethren. We know that Bud had a big hand in trading george hill for kawhi leonard. We also know that he is somewhat the mastermind behind the offense run in San Antonio. Teague essentially is our tony parker and horf is the tim duncan. So lets look at the wings. He likes a dead eye shooter at the 2 like danny green. Korver played admirably in that role but he is limited outside of that. At the 3 spot he went and grabbed kawhi leonard with the pick he got for george hill. He wanted a defensive player he could groom with offensive upside. The market was dry last summer so he took DMC at a bargain. DMC is like a raw kawhi with limited upside. Both had a similar skillset. The point of all this is, perhaps the kawhi leonard selection can shed some light into what type of player we are targeting in the draft. I hear names like dario and kyle anderson but those guys would not fit and would be liabilites defensively. This is speculation, but im curious as to what you guys think.

dmc is no marvin my friend. He replaced him but he is our tony allen with better shooting. I think your judging him based on his scoring output but that isnt his job. Im not saying we cant upgrade at the 3 spot. Im simply stating the fact that our coaching staff is great at development and DMC has benefited just as much as anybody on the roster.
