Bro you have to stop with this BS narrative that the Hawks are a defensive sieve with Trae on the floor. Is he the best defender? No. In the playoffs, did he play solid defense. YES! Trae wasn't the one getting torched in the Bucks series. It was by design, but still there are ways to hide Trae on the defensive end.
Tell me one team to win a championship without an excellent offensive player.
Things are getting Finnishy in Chicago?
I actually think he'd be good in the Gallo role in the future with the Hawks, but we don't have the minutes for him. #deepteamproblems
Would that put us above the tax line though? That may be Travis only concern this season. Not a big one for this season, but could be big going into the new couple of seasons.
- Edit: Someone ( @LongTimeFan) answered this in another thread. With Lou we are at $130,000,000 about $6,600,000 below the tax line and can use whatever we have left of the mid-level exception to add someone if wanted.
Designated rookies are generally getting max contracts up to 30% and are signed before the season or before the rookie enters restricted free agency. If you let that player go to restricted free agency and you make a qualifying offer, I believe you can offer five years similar to John. I'm not versed in the details here though so someone like @JayBirdHawk or @thecampster may be better qualified for that question.
No, we played our young core the same and replaced those terrible vets with serviceable vets - Bogi, Gallo, Snell, Hill, Rondo, and Williams. - Gallo and Bogi contributed way more than any other vets we had in the past.
You need to watch his full scouting videos. He shows flashes of being a better ball handler than Hunter, but that's not very consistent. His passing in transition is very good, but in the half court needs improvement. He has tons of potential on the defensive end, but at times was checked out or lost.
Or the team improved because they brought in Bogi, Gallo, Lou, and Hill. All veterans.
I said Lou could win you a quarter or two and you came back and said that's a fallacy and Lou had to be signed. That's not what I'm saying at all, I'm just saying if you can have all of them, why not do it? It makes the Hawks better situationally.
See Lou Williams in the Philly series for your fallacy. He contributed to two wins with his scoring and playmaking ability.
Nathan Knight doesn't offer veteran leadership. Again, I've stated that you do not value veteran leadership the same as me and that's fine. That's why I want Lou back on the team. He's not a must have, just something I'd appreciate.
Or you have players that play multiple positions like most teams these days which is why I don't get why you are using the antiquated 3 players for each spot. Most teams want to have players that can at least play multiple positions in their units.
