  1. What if the Hawks KNEW AL wasn't committed and went ahead with their contingency plan? If he stayed, then they could make other moves. If he didn't we have a starting caliber (if not all star) Center and All NBA powerforward either way.
  2. So we've all flipped out over this year's free agency and he who shall not be named (thanks for the 9 years of service though) broke our collective hearts, but if you take at the look at the Hawks cap situation for 2017- 2018 we can build a champion. Just check out the team below. Player Position Salary Blake Griffin PF $31,321,650 24% Dwight Howard C $23,500,000 18% Gordan Hayward SF $22,000,000 17% Dennis Schröder PG $17,000,000 13% Kent Bazemore SG $16,910,112 13% Tim Hardway Jr SG $8,000,000 6% Kyle Korver (MLE) SG/SF $5,000,000 4% Tauren Prince SF/PF $2,018,800 2% Hawks Draft Pick PG $1,600,000 1% Hawks Draft Pick C/PF $1,600,000 1% DeAndry Bembry PG/SG/SF $1,306,600 1% Walter Tavares C $1,014,746 1% Mike Muscala PF $1,014,746 1% Isiah Cordenier SG $650,000 0% 0% Estimated Salary $132,936,654 Salary Cap $113,000,000 ($19,936,654) Luxury Tax $133,000,000 $63,346 2017 Cap Hold PLAYER (8) POS. QUALIFYING OFFER CAP FIGURE Tiago Splitter PF $12,375,000 $12,375,000 Kyle Korver SG $9,922,500 $9,922,500 Thabo Sefolosha SF $7,315,000 $7,315,000 Dennis Schröder PG $3,824,518 $6,771,456 Mike Scott PF $6,333,335 $6,333,335 Tim Hardaway Jr. SG $3,335,707 $5,704,014 Lamar Patterson SG $1,268,433 $1,268,433 Mike Muscala PF $1,014,746 $1,014,746 Could it go head to head with any team in the NBA? I believe it can. Only problem is our Bench isn't the strongest at the PF and Center position unless Moose and Eddy show stark improvement. However, I see Eddy as being pretty good defensively then and that's all we need from him. We can find a veteran back up point guard for Dennis either this year or next. We can afford ANY max player next year ( Iknow they may not choose the Hawks) and dish out for a great number two. I just choose Griffin and Heyword because they'd be my choice. So do you think this team can rule the East and do the unthinkable and win it all? Also, what would your 2017-2018 potential Atlanta Hawks Championship Roster look like.
  3. Looks like Al's staying. Now let's see what happens. I really hate to see Milsap leave, but if he does we'll have to keep Tiago because Eddy ain't ready!
  4. User Actions Following Adrian WojnarowskiVerified account‏@WojVerticalNBA Boston and Washington have rapidly lost hope of Al Horford leaving the Hawks, league sources tell @TheVertical. Looks like Al's stayng home!
  5. I realize that. Which is why I said they can do it. Some think the Hawks can only sign Howard and that's it. The Hawks have tons of options. Most likely they will bring Al back at around 23 - 24 million over 5 years.
  6. I realize none of you are salary cap experts. The Hawks can give AL a five year max AND sign a SG (Baze / Eric Gordon?) or trade for Jimmy Butler (the salary works). By trading Splitter and not reupping Mike Scott.
  7. Don't forget we can cut Scott for 3.3 millioon so we can have $17 million for Baze (if we want to go that route).
  8. This just means that Al, Sap, or Howard will come off the bench. Al and Sap play about 32 minutes per game which leaves 32 minutes for Dwight.
  9. Considering that you most likely trade splitter in that Scenario ($8.5) - Net $15.5 for Dwight as an off the bench player getting starter minutes, I'm ok with. I would not be ok with Dwight w/o Al and starting. I believe coming off the bench will keep him healthy longer during the season.
  10. I agree, but Minnie's in the West being pretty good won't get you very far. Also, this is completely hypothetical. I was saying if you added Butler through that trade to the hypothetical team mentioned above then the Hawks would have a good chance and being on Cleveland's level.
  11. If Chicago's going full tank, the first round pick from Minnesota in next year's draft is the ultimate prize. Chicago does not have a back up center and Tiago doesn't tie up cap space. Thjr is a good prize because he's young and cheap.
  12. Just heard on NBA TV they are willing to shop him for the right price. I think that would be a fair trade if they are doing a full tank. Although, the talking heads probably just put that out there. If it's a possibility, we could have two to three LeBron stoppers (slower downers) on the team.
  13. It will if you add Jimmy Butler by trading Splitter and THjr and cutting Mike Scott and a first round pick (Minnesota's)? to the Bulls. You could also afford a great back up point guard or a ryan anderson (to replace MS) in this scenario.
  14. Lakers 4 year $65 million for Timothy Mosgov per Woj Vertical.
  15. Looks like the wizards are about to ink Bradley Beal to 5 year 133 Million deal. Hold on to your hockey sticks cause it's going to get crazy!
  16. http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2016/7/1/12076832/kent-bazemore-free-agency-atlanta-hawks-houston-rockets User Actions Follow Zach Lowe‏@ZachLowe_NBA Teams that have inquired with Kent Bazemore's agent since midnight under impression it might take $19M-$20M per year to sign him.
  17. If I could like this 1,000,000 times I would. The Hawks have a NO LEAKS policy. Just cause someone on the internet puts a story out there does not make it true. All these sites are just putting out click bait. If you've noticed, you've only heard the Hawks are pursuing D12. I'm pretty sure his agent put that out there. We are probably pursuing a lot more than D12. I can't wait for the clock to strike midnight so this foolishness will be over.
  18. Based on his ability to score from the point position AND he's cheap.
  19. I agree. If all it takes is a second rounder sign me up!
  20. My apologies if these stories have been posted. Looks like NY is looking to trade or cut Jared Jack. - http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/06/29/report-utah-making-point-guard-trey-burke-available-in-trades/ Utah is looking to trade Trey Burke (possibly for a second rounder?) - http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/06/29/report-nets-shopping-point-guard-jarrett-jack-if-cant-find-partner-will-waive-him/
  21. You're correct! He is not cheap. He costs about $12 million per season, but the way the cap is going up and if he can stay healthy, that may be a steal. I really thought Gillenari was the Denver forward who stayed injured and Wilson's injury was the first of his career.
  22. I say it takes a special kind of person (man or woman) to hit anyone. Woman abuse men too. It's just not reported as much and seen differently in society's eyes. I agree with you wholeheartedly though. I just don't think the kid should be labeled a "wifebeater" before all the details come out.
  23. You know I love my players with injury history. Ha. I just want to get some good players on the cheap, but that would always bite you in the butt.
