  1. I feel the same frustration but the big difference is that with most of Lenny's teams we were winning 50 a year. When you're 0-4 and haven't even been in a game yet its much harder to watch KA shooting 1 for 15.
  2. Diaw is looking rough but man is Anderson stinking up the place. He's shooting 24% and is 1 for 15 in the last 2 games. Woodson definitely needs a quicker hook for Diaw and Anderson.
  3. I was kidding, but I hope he can rebound. I wonder why we didn't try for Outlaw. He just signed with the Suns. Check out this article by Steve Kerr. We can't even make press under Ugly Starts. Man are our expectations low. Steve Kerr Article
  4. This should turn it around for us!
  5. I agree about backup quality. I'm surprised how bad KA looks out there. He may come around though. We aren't going to run with anybody. I'd rather see our guys over-playing on defense. Maybe pick up some bad fouls, but at least we'd slow the scoring down and maybe not go down by 20 so quick. If we don't get some scoring out of the guards then we may never win. Right now Childress is the only one looking decent at guard.
  6. Why not is the question. KA and Barry are doing nothing. We have 2 veteran guards who are supposed to be carrying a load for the young guys and they go scoreless? Both guards? I know they had some assists, but they need to score some. Why not start Diaw at point and Childress at 2. They can switch the defensive assignment.

    No Excuse

The Sonics lost their opener by 30 to the Clippers. And the Clippers ain't the Suns. You think everyone is Seatlle is panicing?
  8. I liked the Stinger too and I don't know where he went. Grant Long will be good I think he just is new to broadcasting so its a little rough right now.
  9. I liked reef and JT but we sucked with them and there was little chance of improvement with all our money tied up. At least we suck in a more interesting way now rather than just losing by 10 every night. This was one game. We aren't going to lose by 30 every night. Phoenix has a lot of talent that they have been building for the last 2 years. Everyone forgets that it is hard to win in the NBA. It takes talent, teamwork, chemistry, and constant effort. When everyone is new from the coach on down through every single player it will take time to figure out what you're doing. And, other teams are going to blow by you while you're figuring it out. But, the important thing is to come up with a good plan and see it through. Not scrap it when the team gets embarassed. It will happen again. I guarantee last years Hawks would have gotten blown off the court too by these Suns. Hell, Marion could blow us out by himself the last 2 years and now he's got a great supporting cast. BK has a good plan. Our biggest failures this year were not landing a great shooter and having nothing at center. We just have to hope that Willis can hold up.
  10. I'm hoping J Smith gets some good minutes. And I hope Diaw does some scoring. If Diaw gets extended minutes and doesn't score at all then we're in trouble. I think we'll be seeing a lot of Barry. I looking to see who's going to fill the void at center.
  11. I don't think Jamal Tinsley was ever a Hawk. I like a lot of those players but even so its not that impressive of a bunch.
  12. Under young players to watch there is no mention of Josh Smith when almost everyone at this point is seeing this guy as potentially the biggest surprise of the draft. This is typical for 'experts' nowadays. It sounds cooler to trash a whole franchise than to give real analysis. I can't remember the last Hawks player that was truly hyped. Its one of the things we've been missing.

    Bo Outlaw

Why not pick up Outlaw and dump Pig. I know he has a contract but geez I can't see Pig contributing more than Outlaw could give us and Outlaw could play C. Has anyone noticed that the Rockets are getting no respect in pre-season predictions. I'm not looking forward to playing them that's for sure.
  14. I just don't see the logic in the idea that because Walker is on the floor Chill won't see meaningful minutes. Its a long damn season and I'm glad we have some real pros to put out there and help these guys along. Walker is certainly capable of that. But really your concern should be more with coaching than Walker. I want every player to want the ball in their hands. Its up to the coach to see that the offense is run effectively and involves the right players.
  15. The reason we don't run an offense featuring Smith, Childress, Diaw is that we would get destroyed in the majority of the games and no free agent would touch us next year. This is still a business and the Hawks have to put a decent product on the floor. Show the league that we can compete with AH and Walker and some promising young guys and we can attract some better players next year. I hate to agree with Diesel(just kidding), but he's right. Chill and Diaw may eventually be very good nba players but they'll never be the cornerstone of the offense. Smith may be but at 18 you can't throw him in 40 minutes a night. There is a method to rebuilding and its not (as the bulls learned) just getting a bunch of young guys and throwing them out on the floor. That's a recipe for disaster.
  16. I'm not arguing that Walker needs to be the guy for the next 5 years. I'm talking about this year. And what he brings his the ability to show the rookies what it is to be the man on offense. I don't want to see an offense running through Childress, Smith, and Diaw this year. It would be like the Bulls have been for the last few years. You said it yourself about Kobe. When/If these guys start to assert themselves and erase doubt about their nba potential then you will see Walker shipped out. Until then we still have to put an nba caliber team on the floor or these guys won't learn squat. You keep saying these young guys are our future and I couldn't agree more. They are the future and not the present. And if they are going to be effective in the future they need some players to learn from. I'll take Walker for that. He may not be perfect for the role but he is a proven nba scorer and that's significant. Do you really think that great players won't emerge just because Walker is around. If these guys can cut it then they will do it.
  17. Walker is just what this team needs at this point. He's not all that useful to a team that's already a contender. Our young guys need to know what to do on offense when you have one guy dominating the ball. This is the way the majority of good nba teams work. You have one maybe two guys who get the plays and the other players just need to get open. Letting these guys play college ball and let everyone be equal in the offense won't teach these guys anything about the nba. Having guys being in competition for 'alpha dog' is a great thing at this point in the season. If they are still doing it at the all star break then its a coaching problem. Now its just growing pains and healthy competition.
  18. Whoa! That's some negativity. This is a better roster than we started with last year by a long shot. We upgraded the at the point, we upgraded at both forward spots and we upgraded the bench. C is the only position we are weaker at. All teams take time to jell in the nba. We have to be patient, but I guarantee by mid season we will be a lot happier than last year.
  19. Is this only for turner south games? I always like Bob Rathben and Mike Glenn. I hope they are still on the local broadcast.
  20. The question is why isn't the team waiting for the mri before pronouncing him out for the season. Woodson and the players all talk like he's gone.
  21. There are plenty of NBA teams who have been more pitiful than the Hawks over the last 10 years. Atlanta teams are easy for the national press to pick on because they know they face no backlash. There are great fans in Atlanta but the city is also filled with lots of people who aren't from here and think its fun to bash the home team. I've gotten used to it.
  22. Bashing the Willis signing is just stupid as everyone here seems to agree. Unfortuantely there are many people (even in the front offices) who think teams should be loaded with 'potential' players. But, you don't win anything without guys like Willis, Horry, Horace Grant. How old was Cartwright when the Bulls started winning. It would have been tough without him.
  23. I agree Willis is a good addition. I don't want a 42 year old guard but at center he's probably in better shape and plays better D and rebounds better than most of the centers on the bench in this league.
