  1. Hawks pass on Beasley who goes one pick after the Hawks. How good is Benbry?
  2. I agree for the forseeable future the Cavs will be tough to beat. Remember it still took the right moves for the stars to align. Th Golden State Warriors were bad for some time but chose wisely drafting Curry and Thompson. No one thought Draymomd Green would be the player he was a 2nd round pick. Other players like Bogut,Levingston were acquired shrewdly. It still takes the right moves at the right time something the Hawks refused to do when a high quality player may have been available. Their reasoning was thngs are going good now we don't want to break up the chemistry. Sure thats good if you want a mediocre team but the regualr season is much different than the post season. The hawks have failed to add talent. Something that teams who go far also they can play either small ball or big ball. The Hawks who do they h av e other than Sap that can really score in the post and board. we saw vs the Cavs Sap had problems inside with TT giving him alot fo trouble. You want to close the gap between the Cavs,Warriors vs Hawks make the right moves at the right time would be a good start.
  3. I wonder if the Hawks had their choice between Buddy Hield or Brown which one they would take. I think New Orleans grabs him (Hield) if he is still there at 6. If the Hawks could manage to get the 5th pick they could probably get him if the Celtics don't take him. I just hope for the fans sake the Hawks management sees the issues and decides to shake things up. If mediocrity is your goal then welcome to Atlanta but if you want to win championships then this team needs to make some big moves not little moves. You saw the Cavs crush Toronto last night and the Hawks had big problems beating both the Raptors and Cavs in the reg season. A couple of little moves won't solve the problem.
  4. Cousins is to much a headache also I think he is a pad stater. Not sure if can control his issues.
  5. Just a reminder how much distance is between the Cavs and the other teams in talent. Gets kind of boring watching these blowouts.
  6. I saw over at ESPN Ford just put out a new mock draft right after the lottery. He thinks the Celtics(3rd) or the Kings (8th) may want to trade their pick. Jayloen Brown going to the Kings but the Kings no1 need is a point guard and there isn't one good enough after Dunn. Looks like a good match for Schröder or Teague to be dealt.
  7. Money talks alot of times so most athletes want the money and the surroundings help but the player would really have to hate the place to leave turning down more money. The cap will go up but the team that the player plays for will have an advantage because they can offer more money.
  8. Whoever brings the most value is what I would do. If one is traded then the Hawks need to find a backup or draft someone to groom. You never know how either Teague or Schröder is the guy.
  9. We shall see how serious the Hawks are in revamping the team. Talk is cheap action is what is needed. I hope getting swept a 2nd time by the Cavs plsu the abysmal record vs Cleveland and Toronto have opened the Hawks owner/management that the Hawks need to make some big changes.
  10. Question since Teague would be a rental the team that trades for him wouldn't they have the right to go over the cap resigning him? If so the team that lands Teague if traded probably as a good chance of resigning him.
  11. Right now the Hawks are as good as they will get with the current group and even adding a few minor pieces won't change anything.
  12. Watching the Cleveland series mostly I don't think Dennis makes other players better just my opinion regardless of the Ast% percentage during the season. He's to out of control and does he make other players better?
  13. I think your possibly on to something Lurker both Dennis and Teague might not be the right answer. You can rack up stats in Bud's system but that doesn't make you an elite point guard who makes the right decision at the right time. The Hawks need to have a point guard who can do this. Dennis seems to have tunnel vision and not include other players when playing. He goes straight for the hoop trying to score. Sure you want to be aggressive but don't forget your main job is to set up other players. Teague seems to rack up nice stats but again when it comes to making the right play during clutch time he as failed more times than not. I'm for whoever brings the most back in a deal. One needs to play full time the other traded because both should be starters.
  14. I looked at the Cavs vs Hawks stats again and have to say Sap did score although it sure seemed he had less points. I think his inside game vs TT Sap couldn't do much and when you need points without an inside game your in trouble. Horford his issue was both rebounds and points. As a center he should be leading the team or close to it. We just saw the Spurs get ate up vs OKC due to the lack of rebounding. The Hawks need to correct this obviously. Al definitely does not deserve the max and if you do give it to him what is that saying about stats plus other players will want the same. The league is going to smaller lineups thus Mozgov probably not on the list for the hawks if Al leaves. Not sure there as got to be someone out there that can rebound and score a bit the hawks don't need an all world player. Got to find a wing(S) player(s). Baz will be gone he'll want to much. No do not come back with Hardaway being a starter. Hawks need to add talent meaning better outside shooters. You can only keep riding the same talent you have for so long and the way the Cavs destroyed the Hawks its obvious alot more talent is needed. It still comes down does Hawk management really want to win? As fans we all want to win championships but owners might have a different agenda. We shall see how bad the Hawks wants to win this off season.

    Marc Gasol

I've suggested Horford at power forward but the forum here doesn't seem to like it. I guess if the Hawks got Gasol then Horford is a no sign.

    Marc Gasol

Sure would help on the boards. Some how I don't think Teague and Splitter would be enough. I haven't looked at their roster wonder if they would accept Teague and Sap? I'd like to get rid of Splitter's contract but don't think Memphis would accept him since he seems to get injured alot.

    Marc Gasol

Would Gasol fit the Atlanta style offense? If so I am all for it but I see Gasol as more of a low post player.
  18. Sap has trouble with big power forwards has we saw in the playoffs. He can defend but his offense is shoddy except the last game of the year he showed up.
  19. I can understand favoring the vets but those vets let the team down through the series. What's going to change a few spare parts added to close the gap simply fools gold. I think its time to take some chances and if the Hawks regress so be it. The status quo of th core just isn't good enough.
  20. The vets already proved they couldn't hang with the big boys why keep doing the same old cat and mouse routine.
  21. Seems like its always the case where Hawks don't have enough money to add a few high quality players. Where does the money go? Even with Sap and resigning Horford even if it is a max or little below why can't we add talent. We need to go over the cap.Cleveland always finds a way. There was something like 37 million dollars between Hawks payroll and the Cavs. Another way to look at it almost 2 max players. This is a league where you need to draft well and sign key free agents plus keep the core of the team if its working. The Hawks are lackluster when it comes to the draft. I know they draft middle of the pack or lower. I haven't looked but some how the good teams find the talent they don't have to draft high. There are certain times when a team must revamp and go in a different direction. I think this is one of those times for the Hawks. I really do think Teague or Schröder needs to be dealt. It's hard having two quality point guards more of a luxury than necessity. Whoever goes means the Hawks need to look for a quality backup. Maybe its through the draft or free agency but it can be done. Also the Hawks should be looking into what they can get for Sap. He'll want more money after next year thus a decision needs to be made. Can the Hawks win a championship with Sap or even get back to the ECF? It doesn't look that way now. I did not like the way the Hawks used last yrs 1st round pick. I know Bud probably thought he could fix Hardaway but it looks like he'll be a Jag. Basically the Hawks threw away a first round pick. Bad decision making if you ask me and in order to compete vs the top tier teams you must excel at every facet of building a team. Does Hawk management want to do that?
  22. Great post.I agree. Gets back to my point where management just wants to make the playoffs and not win a championship.
  23. Amazing how teams like Toronto,OKC, Golden State keep coming up with bigs and Portland their guards. What have the Hawks added recently? You got to invest if your going to compete and it always seems the Hawks take 10 cent players and try to make them into big time over achievers. Hawks came up with Schröder but other than him who the last few years. Hawks need to make some moves not just minor moves to close the gap vs the Cavs. I like the idea of going after Mosgov if Hawks lose out on Horford. Even with Horford Hawks need to find some rebounding. This will never happen but imagine adding Beal and Mosgov plus bringing back Horford. Their not superstars but would really help close the gap. Hawks probably don't have enough money to do all that. Sap certainly will want more money after next year so might be a good time to see what you can get. I just know if you make minor changes it won't help much. Hawks will go out again 1st or 2nd rd next year. Changes are needed it is clear.
  24. I'd rather have Beal over Derozan although Beal gets injured more. I know its fantasy land but if you added Durant and Beal that would give us two sharp shooters from the outside. Derozan this playoffs has not played well.
  25. Beal's main issue is health. Even if he misses some time just as long as he is ready for the playoffs is what counts. Hawks need to solve the rebounding issues some how. You can get away with being beat on the boards in the reg season but when you ultimately face the Cavs in the playoffs you have to rebound.
