  1. No doubt about that, Hunter and Bruno already look the part as far as NBA players go. And as for Omari, he appears to be using the John 'Hot Plate' Williams (of Washington Bullets' fame) approach to dieting and exercise. As many of us found out over the years, all of the exercising in the world won't help if you're emptying out a rib shack every other day...
  2. Oh forgot about Kanter signing in Boston. It would make less than no sense for him to go there, even on MLE $$$. So that pretty much leaves the Clippers, Memphis (why?), Chicago (why?), and (gulp) us...
  3. I see where you're going there. But whomever loses out on the Kawhi deal is going to want to save face with their fans, especially if the Clippers are the ones taking the L. I can see him going there and getting a pretty good contract to be their big man in the post. I can even see him going to Boston to take Horford's spot...
  4. After having tasted what NBA Finals action look like, I have my doubts about Cousins wanting to join a squad that's still in the rebuilding process. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him in LA with either team there or even Miami to team with Butler. But the longer this goes on and fewer teams having cap space beyond the MLE without dipping into luxury tax territory, well....
  5. Lol, folks here would have a hard time if Lebron came here and wanted to wear #21, much less a midcarder like Evan Turner. As Buford T. Justice would say, you can think about it but don't do it...
  6. His biggest error was releasing Larry Drew too soon, especially when he knew of the Hawks' desire to go after Giannis in the draft. Having him down here would've changed the entire course of the franchise...
  7. Well, I'll take this trade as Bazemore's value not being nearly as high as we thought and them doing him a favor by sending him to a team where he wouldn't get completely buried on the bench in his contract year...
  8. My thoughts, exactly. IMHO, that's like putting Dwight Howard on the wing...
  9. I also see it as them doing Bazemore a solid for being a team guy during this rebuilding process. With them drafting two wings, along with Huerter and possibly Crabbe getting minutes at shooting guard, his playing time was going to be greatly limited here.
  10. This has buyout written all over it...
  11. Brace yourselves. The responses are coming...

    I like what I see

I couldn't have typed this better on my cellphone. I was pissed at the trade last year but came around once I started seeing Young adjust to the league and get some confidence. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be watching a team with no shot at the playoffs with such baited breath until Trae got cooking in January. IMHO, he's already the best point guard they've had since Mookie was here two decades ago. He's our Neo, the one. As for whom I wanted in the draft this year, I was pining for Hunter as well. He can defend and isn't as much a stiff on the offensive end as say, a Ty Corbin or Alan Henderson was. He'll put up some numbers given the chance. I also wasn't sold on Reddish as well, especially after looking at those shooting numbers. You really can't teach want-to so I'm hoping that this was just a result of having Zion and a human black hole (see Barrett, R.J.) riding shotgun with him than anything else. At the very least, he looks far more fluid on the court than Marvin or Dion Glover ever did...
  13. It's their narrative and they're sticking with it. But they'll make the world believe that they were all for Trae when he puts up MVP numbers soon enough...
  14. Loved Office Space. So glad I didn't see this nobody...
  15. To each its' own. If they mesh well, they could be good. Of course, if this effs up Boston, I'm all for it. So much for Ainge being the smartest man in the room. At least for now...
  16. While much has been said about Hunter and Reddish, to me, this is the most interesting pick. There is still much value in having a guy who can clean the glass and play cop in the paint...

    Depth Chart

I'd imagine with so much dead weight in terms of expiring contracts on the roster, I could see Dedmon walking (pun intended) if he wanted a bigger contract. I'm sure that the teams who have the most cap space right now isn't going to get everyone they wanted and will not have the patience to sit it out for another year. A few overpays will result and you know how that goes. I wouldn't be against bringing Dedmon back as Fernando will need some grooming time to learn the NBA. Also, a viable backup PG is desperately needed...
  18. Oh boy. How about starting with my worst, starting in the 1990's... 1990 - Rumeal or as Babs called him, the next Isiah Thomas. I would've called myself that if I had Loy Vaught, Glen Rice, and Terry Mills riding shotgun with me on the court. 1991 - Augmon. I wasn't a fan because he didn't appear to have a true pull and fire game from the outside, which bothers me to the nth degree when it comes to wing players and shooting guards to this very day. Great defender but Nique needed more firepower. 1992. Keefe. The CNN Center was packed with folks screaming for Harold Minor (don't ask). I saw not one but two guys from Alabama rip my Vols a new one up close and personal the previous year and both were available (you might have heard of the names Sprewell and Horry). When they announced Keefe's name, well, you might as well had Nikolai Volkoff singing the Russian national anthem afterwards. 1995 - Henderson. One of my least favorite Hawks of all time, next to Childress and Marvin (you all know my feelings on those two). I was literally screaming in the CNN Center for them to get Michael Finley, especially considering that Stacey Augmon and Ken Norman were the only viable wings on the roster. Imagine him in the starting lineup instead of Ty Corbin come playoff time. 1999 - Terry. He worked out pretty well but talk about how NOT to utilize your assets. Babs had FOUR first-round draft picks and Terry was the only player that other teams didn't laugh out loud at them selecting. 2004/2005/2006 - The trilogy of shame. The bandwidth spent on me railing BK for drafting Childress, Marvin, and Shelden on this forum would probably be enough to launch another web portal. In '04, I wanted Al Jefferson or Deng along with Osh Smith. Obviously, I wanted Paul in '05. Get those two right and who cares who they're drafting in '06. The good? I actually have a few... 2007 - Horford. For once, Gearon does some actual good by putting a loaded shotgun at the back of Billy Knight by telling him to draft Horford instead of another jabronie who couldn't play. Still, it took them jettisoning the massive dead weight of bad players in mid-season to get them back into the playoffs. 2017 - Present. From the drafting of Collins to watching Trae do the impossible in his rookie year, to them finessing not-so prime time assets (picks 8, 10, 17, and a billion 2nd rounders) into some viable commodities. After watching this team with my eyes covered during the draft in abject horror the last 40+ years, this is what it feels like to finally have a competent GM who actually knows what he's doing. For some perspective, could you imagine the headaches and all-night benders we would've had if Babs or BK still had the keys to the kingdoms yesterday? Dwight would still be here, Trae wouldn't be, and Bol Bol would've probably been the 8th pick...
  19. You make a great point here. I still remember the 3rd pick they had, where it was a daily argument on this forum over taking Battier, Jason Richardson, Gasol, etc. A lot of folks were sour over that. Even though I'm not a big fan of Reddish (you know I despise wing players with low shooting percentages), I can't say that they failed to do everything they set out to do short of bringing Zion here. They got youth, better defenders, and potential, all in one draft. Can't ask for much more than that.
  20. It wasn't because of that. Lol...
  21. I sure miss a helluva lot after getting sick this morning and having to go home. So they traded up to #4?
