  1. Just hoping we get to 100 pages on this topic by the draft. #EdeySquawk
  2. Last night looked like they waived the white flag on trying to catch Chicago.
  3. I’m talking about just with regards to our win total. We can win or lose the final two regular season games and still be 10th. The only thing that can change our draft position is winning the Play In. The Sacramento pick is also on the line.
  4. We’re locked in to 10th in the east and #10 draft slot in the league. Not really anything to play for in the final two games at this point. Quin can treat these games as practice.
  5. Probably true, but all these guys get consideration for the roster. A lot of factors come into what we should do in the draft. Everything depends on who falls, if there is a team willing to make a trade, and who we think fits our system. You have to prepare for every scenario.
  6. I’m not set on a particular draft strategy, but we’re running out of slots to develop players. AJ, Lundy, Bufkin, and Gueye along with our picks in the next draft. The draft always depends on who is available when you pick. If a guy falls to you, pick him.
  7. I think it’s as simple as they make the playoffs and pick is ours. If not, we have to hope for next year.
  8. Maybe we just let Bey walk and sign Vit.
  9. Teams will regret passing on the opportunity to acquire DJM. Price has gone up.
  10. Philly has a pretty easy schedule to close out. We could pass the Bulls. Depends on how they match up with NY. They play the Knicks 3 times.
  11. Guess we need to talk to Glenn Willis about his tweets. I'm just glad this is a debate, it's way better than should we trade DJM for a mid first round pick or some other team's scraps. Interesting turn of events in the past ten games in our favor. The King's pick may become more of an asset in the 2025 draft. Lots of possibilities to close out the season during the Play In. Trae and Embiid coming back.
  12. We started Trae, Huerter, Bogi, and JC. That was the defense that unlocked Capela?
  13. We haven't come close to replicating the stretch where Clint was a DPOY candidate regularly getting 20 20's with 3 blocks, and Bogi shooting 50% from 3.
  14. After the lackluster response to our players put on the market at the trade deadline, I have no idea where/how the league assess value. Is Bogi marketable? It sounds like we hope a bunch of guys we want to unload have value, but do they? For the right player, I'm willing to trade JJ, Okongwu, Bufkin, etc.
  15. I like how they put the Lakers and Warriors in the headline for clicks but then dump on us because Hawks.
  16. Huerter has started 59 games this season for the Kings and is averaging 10.2 points per game -- down from 15.2 points per game last season in his first campaign with Sacramento. His 3-point shooting has also dropped from 40.2% last season to 36.1% this season. ***Not changing my story. We traded Huerter at the right time.
  17. Nice find. This is the era when basketball players got blue collar salaries. Never heard of this guy. Do we have anyone who was a fan in the early 70's. Where the ancient ones at? I want a John Brown story. He looks like he was in a brawl or two.
  18. JJ came out during a unique moment where Cam, Dre, and Okongwu were the budding "future stars" that people loved. No one will change my mind that giving Jalen shine meant to some people you were diminishing the other guys.
  19. Well, I disagree at least that every RFA shops themselves to get their deal done. Many/most negotiate their agreement directly with the team. It's getting extremely rare for guys to sign with another team or even let other teams set their value. You are signaling to a guy that they are not a priority to the team if you let other teams set their market. A difference between TS and Fields is under TS the team was seen as a contender and there was a different level of spending during free agency a couple years ago. Fields took over a play in team with no cap and a free agency market where teams are getting tighter with spending. I'm not convinced Landry Fields is some kind of deal shark at a higher level than TS.
  20. Teams make offers to RFAs trying to sign them before they "shop themselves" all the time, probably more often than letting a player they value shop themselves. How do you know Okongwu shopped himself to get his offer first and then we signed him?
  21. It’s still not as clear as you’re saying. Most RFA don’t get offers because teams don’t want to waste their time. The Hawks just needed a big enough offer to send a message so the market would not get involved. The market knows it’s not our highest and best offer and prefers to pursue a realistic opportunity avoiding Collins. I literally suggested we trade Collins and a pick for Sabonis. The resounding opinion in response was JC is better than Sabonis. You guys putting on a front that you weren’t in love with Collins as a future star. All the posts say otherwise. Gonna disagree with Supes, too. No NBA GM would have traded the #1 pick in that draft for Collins. That phone call would be over quick.
  22. I don't believe we know enough to say that the market was significantly lower and that we just overpaid. Coming off of an ECF run Collins is an essential part of a Big 3 on a contender. Could have had JC for ..... is completely revisionism. It's an easy claim to make, but as easy as it is to make that claim nothing backs it up either. You yourself were saying you wouldn't trade Collins for the #1 pick in the draft, Anthony Edwards. Now you are saying no good GM hands out a deal like that to JC. He's better and has more potential than anyone in a draft class but now saying he wasn't worth signing to a big deal, sounds like a perspective that has shifted.
  23. GMs are in a tricky spot with these types of contracts. It’s easy to say they should know not to overpay, but in actual practice their contract is estimating the value of what they will become throughout those years. If they go too low it’s saying they project them to be a lower value player. It’s being caught between a rock and a hard place. Not to mention we’re guessing on the actual market, which might be over estimating some of these guys as well. A lot of factors inflate the number. A productive asset turns into a negative asset when we miss the mark. We’ve missed this a couple times the past few years. That’s why we’re cutting guys and carrying negative deals. All we can do is try again, but it’s a painful lesson and process. I’m overanalyzing. Self ban.
  24. Additionally, guys get labeled as **untouchable** and **future star** that turns into **We got to pay this guy who will one day be...**. Then that turns into **Why do we keep cutting salary?**. Which is a close cousin to **If only they signed (insert expensive role player) and kept (insert overpaid Hawk draft pick) we would be one of the best teams***
