  1. Stop it with the Bruno shit. Lol. This is gonna be a rough season, we can’t stop a nosebleed and offense is just random at best. Clint is still the best center on the team but if we look like this might as well start OO and see. But please stop it with Bruno.
  2. Damn I didn’t get to see the game but I kinda had been thinking lately that they should just let Trae be Trae because he absolutely refused to even think about moving without the ball last year. So this kinda confirms what I was worried about the team need to pick a direction and that direction wasn’t picked this offseason.
  3. But I think it could work with Trae actually deciding to move with out the ball more. Siakam would be another good passer to set up Trae and for that matter DJ or Bey for wide open looks. Siakam can also get CC looks outside the pick and rolls. Siakam usually starts his moves seemingly an endless amount of them pretty far out of the lane as he comes in at unpredictable angles that allow him to make all kinds of decisions with the ball. Yes he’s only shots 33% from three but he can keep defenders honest.
  4. So if Siakam were to sign an extension then yeah it would suck to give up OO and his D especially in the Postseason but Siakam is just a next level top 20-30 guy. Adding in Hunter we got Bey or AJ to step in add Mills is what he is and one 1st. Keep CC and pair him up with Siakam. You still have your 6th man in Bogi and AJ and JJ. We would need to get a cheap defensive center. Hell yeah I’d do that trade if he agreed to an extension. It’d hurt to see OO go but yes I’d make the trade.
  5. You’re just negative about everything. I’ve thought hard about just ignoring you because of it. It’s not a stab in the back to be brought up in trade talks when you’re a professional athlete. That’s the business. I bet Pascal isn’t crying his name is being talked about he still wants to be Toronto right?
  6. What? These guys are professionals they know what a GMs job is. AJ especially knows how the NBA works as his dad was traded multiple times during his career. They’re young guys yes but they’re not the star of team maybe then they could feel some way but otherwise you know it’s the NBA and hear guys say it all the time. They know the reality of the league.
  7. The Hawks most important decision should be to improve the team not get under the LT. Now if they can’t make a deal that works to make the team better then it doesn’t happen but if the main goal was to get under the tax and then not use their exceptions then Trae who is a competitor who wants to win should start thinking about asking for a trade himself. I’m holding out hope that if they can get Siakam then ownership will say now go out and use your MLE and whatever else and make the team as competitive as possible.
  8. Al Horford has averaged 12.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 167 games in the playoffs in his career. I used to have my own nickname for Al when he was here I called him the Magician because he’d disappear in big moments. No he was never a top 10 player.
  9. WTF and we’re waiving T. Martin. I rather have just kept him.
  10. I believe the Heat have two tradable 1st round draft picks possibly 3 if they change protections on a different trade. They don’t have the mvp of the league on their team but I understand teams looking for the moon. Same as with Siakam I think the teams being talked about the most are the teams that’ll end up making deals but Portland and Toronto are going to hold on to hope as long as they can. I think teams might jump in and snag either of them but I’d put my money on Miam and Atlanta getting their respective guy in the end. Vegas has odds on both players next team Siakam -155 Toronto +200 Atlanta +275 Brooklyn +700 any other team Lillard +200 Miam +550 Philadelphia +650 Minnesota +750 Toronto Vegas usually knows what they’re doing and has the odds in their favor
  11. I just tried the trade machine and basically with Hunter combined with Mills and then if you include AJ then add any player on the team making less than AJ so Vic Bruno JJ Mathews. All those trades work.
  12. So what was Tor getting in three team trade from us and Dal again? Hunter THJ and a 1st from us. And Bey? Or what was it exactly. Anyway sounds like we have the better offer
  13. I can’t quote anyone but on the topic of if this trade goes down as discussed and the SF position. Terrance Ross is still out there wouldn’t cost much and we’ve seen him plenty go off against us and still has that three ball cooking. Just saying I’m not worried about it. Just hoping this trade goes through.
  14. I don’t see Minn giving up on their experiment this early similar to the Hawks with Trae and DJM. And I don’t see any other way to put this team into contention other than getting Siakam. It would be a bit disappointing seeing us going into the season 8 million under the cap and not making any significant improvements. But if the right deal isn’t there than all we can hope for is some monumental improvement from the young players.
  15. Pascal Siakam’s ‘message has been sent’ on potential Hawks-Raptors trade The Atlanta Hawks have been in heavy pursuit of Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam but the feelings are not mutual. “As for Siakam…the resistance to a trade to Atlanta has really been on his side,” said Marc Stein on the ‘#thisleague UNCUT’ podcaston July 7. “The most-consistent rumblings there have been the Hawks had been very interested in a trade for Siakam, and that Siakam has been resistant to it…Siakam really wouldn’t be interested in a contract extension if the [Raptors] were to move him.” According to Stein, the “message has been sent” to Atlanta about Siakam’s stance.
  16. The problem with the old and new CBA is it makes you resent or think lesser of players like Russell Westbrook for example was a bum because of the money he was making but he’s actually an amazing player but because of his contract all he got was hate from fans and the media. Dame is the same now because he’s being grossly overpaid and hamstringing a team to the point where they the players themselves want out. Max contracts are out of control especially 2nd max’s. If I don’t perform at my job I get fired. Why should anyone be guaranteed anything beyond one or two seasons plus a bonus. This league would be in a much better place if the CBA was more like the NFL’s. Have a salary floor with no fully guaranteed contracts past bonuses. Every single team in the league has contracts they wish they could get off of to improve their teams, which would improve the quality of the product. But it is what is.
  17. I don’t think Portis is available because he signed a reasonable deal and overachieved on it but I think Siakam is on another level anyway. I honestly rather have him than PG who could possibly be had. Portis bug eyes I’d love to have on my team but Siakam is what JC is not on defense and what Portis is not on offense. Siakam can create his own shot. He put up 24 points a game on a team with several other scorers and create for others plus he’s not going to leave his feet while defending a post player drawing fouls and sitting on the bench in foul trouble like JC. He’s not as good in the pick and roll as JC but everywhere else he’s better. He’s a better fit with Trea than DJM but with Quinn who loves to use multiple slip screens and a year to employ his system I think the three of them together could be something special.
  18. If I’m not mistaken Bogi can’t be traded for however many months after he signed his extension so Bogi will not be involved in any offseason trades. Someone check me on that. I think a third team has to be involved if they don’t include DJM which I think is what we’re trying to do. And that third team probably wants CC is what I’m thinking and TOR wants some combination of Hunter Kobe AJ possibly or pick but we’d probably get a backup center or pick on top of Siakam. BTW I’ve wanted Siakam for years he plays D and I honestly don’t care about advanced metrics above my eyes. I think he would take this team to the next level.
  19. I don’t mind what we’ve done so far this offseason. I’ve been on the JC was only a 20 10 guy because we had no one else since two year’s before he was talking like he thought he was a max guy when he didn’t have a jacked up finger. I’m glad he’s gone. Now every team is throwing out max contracts like candy after a new cba. I honestly think f*** it go after young talent and I don’t even know. These contracts are getting out of control. Max contracts were designed for Lebron’s and maybe the top 10 players in the league now secondary thirds are getting max contracts. It legitimately makes me care less about the league. It’s just so ridiculous.
  20. I’m excited but for next season but it’s tempered by so many things. Our poor effort on the defensive end last year. Poor effort can be attributed to the hangover from overachieving in the playoffs and but it also can be attributed to the culture as a whole, ownership head coach and your best player. Those things are going to hangover each of their heads until they prove otherwise. The fit of Trae and DJ is obviously a concern and until they prove it’ll work, people will be scared to fully buy in when it’s ingrained in our fan base that things don’t tend to work out for the Hawks. Third trading Heurter for cap reasons hurts and especially for the common non hardcore fan they don’t understand. In fact they probably didn’t know who DJ was before we traded for him. Forth this is not our year… we can get in the playoffs and give ourselves a fighting chance, which should get people excited but with tempered expectations, hopefully avoiding the play in but the truth is that it’s clear that there are more complete teams. Fifth reason is us hardcore fans know that the only way for us to have a real chance at becoming a championship contender is for some of our young players to level up significantly. That’s not going to happen if they don’t get an opportunity to play and grow. We all the feeling this is not going to happen. I’m excited to see us grow this year but I expect a bit of a bumpy road especially early in the season.
  21. Mike Conley was PG for Utah so Mitchell primarily played as a 2. Brunson should be happy. If Utah isn’t messing with NY then a trade seems possible.
  22. I don’t care about any advanced metrics. I know what I see. If JC was a better defender we wouldn’t even be having these discussions. We know he can’t defend against larger Bigs he’s not really a good on ball defender against PF he’s to slow to guard wings. He’s a great help defender. He gets blocks and he a good defensive rebounder. That being said he’s a top 10 PF. I don’t see anyone we could get that’s going to be better all around. He has to get better on the defensive end for this to team have a chance. And watching Frank highlights against the Hawks reminded me that not one player on the Hawks last year gave a rats ass about D. Hopefully DJ will be our leader on D and force everyone to step up their effort on that end.
  23. Does veteran minimum count against the cap? The answer to this is yes, but not in the way that might be expected. The NBA wants to protect its veteran players that have made a career out of playing basketball. In order to do this, the league had to find a way to stop teams from signing a bunch of younger players with smaller cap hits. The way that this is done is that all players signed on the veteran minimum will result in the same cap hit regardless of their paycheck for years accrued. This means that the cap hit is just under $1.7 million even if a team pays a player the salary of $2.6 million minimum for having 10 or more years experience. Frank has 7 years in the league so I believe his contract will be for $2,463,490 but it’ll only count $1.7 million against the cap. Good deal the guy can play when healthy.
  24. Good for Harden. The max contracts in the NBA are a little over the top especially for guys on their second third extensions. This is a great look for Harden and hopefully starts a trend for some of the top players. Probably not but it would be nice for some of these guys like Harden who make even more money off the court to help their teams by taking a little bit less money.
