    Saban to Texas

Al Golden is leaving Miami for PSU, Charlie Strong (Louisville), or James Franklin (Vanderbilt) are leading the rumor mill for UTx, wouldn't be surprised if one of them ends up in Miami.

    Saban to Texas

Here is a post I copied off of TD that hints at Saban's financial situation:re: Saban to Texas | Flight Tracking | Crimson Silence 2013 | UPDATED 11:45am (Posted on 12/12/13 at 12:34 pm to TutHillTiger)This is my post that was lifted from last night and I found with the links on a Kansas football site. (LOL)There's an apartment complex in Houston (Watermarke Apartments) that's under water. Your pal Nick Saban is 49.5% owner of AND he is PERSONAL guarantor on the note. He currently pays interest only so the note won't default. If the note defaults that's a $25MM judgement against him.A Texas Based bankruptcy firm (Weston Legal) had a very in-depth article up about it until 3 days ago and - BOOM - it's magically disappeared (although a Google Cached version is here: LINK to the cached article.).Anyway, if he gets out from under that loan that's an additional seven figures a year that goes back in his pocket from not having to pay the interest AND he gets out from under the impending crush of a $25MM debt. This is all public record, courtesy of the Texas Secretary of State (search for Beltway 8 Associates LP) and the Harris County (TX) clerk of court and its one of the most poorly kept secrets in the Baton Rouge Real Estate business community. Now the apartment debt is bad enough, but because of Perkins Rowe, Tommy Spinosa had to file Chapter 11 to protect his creditors from seizing his assets, which leaves Nick Squarely in the crosshairs of that $25MM.Again, this is all a matter of public record (Bankruptcy filings and mortgages always are public records) should you choose to look it up yourself.Thank You, this is it, The loan was owned by Compass Bank and the story in the legal community was whether Compass was going to go after Saban for the 25 million. This was during 2011 near the game of the decade. They obviously sold the loan off to avoid doing that.Is that that Bank that Joe Jamal has some ownership in btw?Saban is basically insolvent unless this is cleared up. If Texans have the loans, they have their man I would think. Game set and match.

    Saban to Texas

There is a TX fan on Tigerdroppings saying this: The big debt evidently is about Saban getting sucked into a development investment that went bad.

Summary of Blog Talk radio show tonight:http://www.shaggybevo.com/board/showthread.php/135854-University-of-Texas-Ready-to-Make-Nick-Saban-Huge-Offer?p=6105393&viewfull=1#post6105393
  9. Nothing official yet, but the Texas people are talking like it's a done deal, announcement Monday or Tuesday, big money with part of it coming from private interests. There is really nothing coming from Alabama people, other than waiting a week for Saban to sign a contract extension for $7 mil a year.
  10. Chauncey Billups, #3 overall pick in '97 by Boston, eventually signed as a free agent by Detroit.Rasheed Wallace, #4 overall pick in '95 by Washington, eventually acquired in a trade by Detroit.Richard Hamilton, #7 overall pick in '99 by Washington, acquired in a trade by Detroit.Ben Wallace, undrafted, acquired in a trade by Detroit when Grant Hill left.Tayshaun Prince, drafted 23rd overall by Detroit.
  11. I would say Shelden and Childress tie for the worst picks. Their limitations were apparent to everyone before the draft. We were picking 5th and 6th overall, IIRC, and we pick guys with such low future potential? In hindsight, Marvin was a bad pick, but keep in mind at the time of that draft, the majority of GMs believed Marvin was the potential star of that draft class.
  12. If Horford is indicating that he doesn't want to be here anymore (and I wouldn't blame him for it), it would be stupid not to trade him.
  13. This is one I would take a chance on, as long as the price is right. It sounds as though he has a better attitude than Bynum.
  14. Billy Knight's draft picks:2003: Boris Diaw, Travis Hansen2004: Josh Childress, Josh Smith, Donta Smith, Royal Ivey2005: Marvin Williams, Salim Stoudamire2006: Shelden Williams, Solomon Jones2007: Al Horford, Acie LawAl Horford is the only one still with the team.Of the ex-Hawks, 5 were traded to another team, the rest left without the Hawks receiving compensation.Diaw and two 1st round picks were traded for Joe Johnson.Childress was finally traded for a 2nd round pick which eventually became Mike Scott.Marvin was traded for Devin Harris.Shelden was part of the Mike Bibby trade.Acie was part of the Jamal Crawford trade. My point here is the Hawks have done an extremely poor job of preserving the value of high 1st round picks. I think we could have gotten quite a bit more for Josh Childress, Josh Smith, and Marvin Williams if we had not sat on them.
  15. NY this year: fewest assists in the league, also fewest turnovers. Woody's standard plan that works well in the regular season, not so well in the playoffs.
  16. Not on most NBA teams. It is fairly common for a star player to get pissed at a head coach, and get him fired in short order. What this tells me is that Ferry is no longer trying to placate Josh.
  17. If LD did bench Josh, he would have had to have the backing of Ferry, which would be a big tell as to whether Ferry will try to resign Josh.

    Josh Smith?

Is there anyone that can get a screen capture showing this?
  19. What's that saying, "The only thing scarier than seeing Josh Smith on the opposing team is seeing him on your team."

    Ferry Speaks.

I think what Ferry has going for him is that he refused to take the job until ownership agreed to give him total authority in running the team. I have seen a lot of evidence that was not true with Knight and Sund.
  21. Just saw this on the news:
  22. I am starting to suspect that this potential trade is solely about what other teams would have to pay us asset-wise to take a bad contract off their hands. Josh Smith's side of the trade just allows the numbers to work.
  23. If Ferry is able to get Sanders out of this mess, he needs to be nominated for the Hall of Fame.
  24. LOL at the thought of Josh and Ellis on the same team. What a train wreck that would be.
  25. I think we are about to find out the market price for Josh Smith, and we are not going to like it.
