KAT isn't currently available. Prove to me otherwise somewhere other than this message board. And I'm not talking those hypotheticals from a month back.
On 7/8/2023 at 9:02 PM, JayBirdHawk said:This was one, there was another but I'm not hunting for it...talked about their cap ramifications with Edward, Towns,Gobert.
Which player has flown under the radar in free agency but will be a big storyline come February’s trade deadline? MacMahon: There has been some discussion about Towns, but it shouldn’t be a surprise if that gets much louder as the trade deadline nears. The face of the franchise for the Timberwolves has transitioned to Edwards, fresh off signing a new potential supermax extension. If Minnesota is going to make another major change, it would need to be by trading Towns.- 1

I have some anxiety about a Siakam fit on this team. Yes, KAT will be more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Siakam's 3P% is concerning especially if you're adding that to a lineup of Trae, DJM, and OO who aren't really the best at it either.
Both Siakam and OO are undersized too for the 4/5. They have some strength so maybe that will compensate...but I'd still rather have the 6'11" elite floor spacer.

but needing a third/fourth team to complete the deal
Mavs Twitter really wants a center and I don’t think they’re wrong. They still make the most sense to take on Cap.

Go ahead and move Vit up to the guaranteed roster spot for 3rd PG.

there will most likely be something but what likelihood would you assign a big move?

So you think this will be a championship roster?
Assuming we lose Bey, Cap and picks -
Trae / Mills / Kobe
DJM / Bogi
Hunter / AJ
KAT / JJ / Gueye
OO / BrunoYes. We can absolutely win a championship with this roster.
We just saw Jimmy carry a bunch of undrafted players to the finals.

I'm not worried about KAT's salary...even though it honestly isn't great.
We'd be consolidating JC's $25M and Cap's $20M with DJM taking about $10M less. That's $55M in savings.
And KAT is a significant upgrade.

It's the only reason I support this as well. KAT in that lineup makes everything work.
Yup and not many teams will be able to stop an offense of -
Trae / DJM / Hunter / KAT / OO

If we're building around Trae / DJM / OO .... which it really seems like we are. KAT makes more sense for this roster than JB.
And this is coming from one of the bigger JB fans on this board.
Our defense will be fine if Trae plays like he did when Quin got here and DJM, Hunter, and OO all play like we know they can play on that end.

I also remember someone breaking the Capela trade on here days before it happened.

On Jaylen,
I love the dude, he’s prolly a top 10 player in the league
17 minutes ago, Spud2nique said:Ya this is too rich for me. OO and AJ are gonna be special. I honestly can’t hand them over to the C’s voluntarily.
You wouldn’t trade OO and AJ for a top 10 player in the league? That’s wild bro.

KAT is great.. to me Jaylen Brown is better.
I agree and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring JB here. I would trade anybody and everybody other than Trae. You do that for young, all-NBA talent.
I’d imagine Boston would want Bey, AJ, and OO as the young players plus a pick or 2. OO fits well with KP and Bey replaces JB in the starting 5.
Trae / DJM / Brown / JJ / Cap is a really good starting 5. But I don’t know if that’s better than -
Trae / DJM / Hunter / KAT / OO
I’d be happy with either of these scenarios. I want to win now and both of these are win-now moves. Go Hawks!!!

That's true but there are a lot more dynamics than that. If JB signs a supermax today I guess we'll find out. I think he needs to sign today or else stuff starts getting weird.
For sure. The longer they go without getting an extension done, the higher eyebrows will be raised.
Everyone knows the number…it’s THE max. So what’s taking so long?

I believe we can get KAT in a trade. Usually I’m not as optimistic but I can see this one actually happening. There’s just a lot that lines up in our favor for once.
I agree. DJM taking less and a year early leads me to believe they have a deal in the pipeline.

Also, Celtics are in no ay desiring to send him to an eastern conference team with comparable packages. If anything they might sign and trade him for Lillard.
Are you paying attention to superstars in the NBA right now? If they don’t want to play for team A, they won’t.
Dame has been a key part of that franchise for more than a decade. Probably has a nice mansion there, family is probably rooted in that community, and even he’s like get me out of here.
Why would Jaylen Brown want any part of that? He’ll just veto any trade to a team he doesn’t want to be a part of.

Dallas seems like the most likely 3rd team for Capela. The fanbase is calling for one.
110K followers by the way.
-
I don’t think the trade can happen without us finding a 3rd team.
Minny isn’t going to take Cap back. Bogi can’t be traded until September. The salaries just don’t work without one of them being included.
Need a 3rd team for Cap.
Edit - to add, Supes original rumor specifically said Minny doesn’t want Dre.

We could swing a deal :
Minny gets: Hunter/Bey/JJ/Mills
ATL gets: KAT
salaries match perfectly.
@JayBirdHawk there a problem with this trade as far as the cap?
We gotta keep one of Dre / Bey

This.
JJ's 99.9 percentile best outcome probably isn't as good as KAT is now.
Same goes for AJ compared to Jaylen Brown.

I never suggested we don’t win now. Attempting to win now does not have to handicap your future. Dallas should be giving up the pick. If I were Minnesota’s GM, I’d take that deal and run.
Losing AJ, JJ, and OO would be handicapping our future. I don't consider losing Bey and a couple firsts that will be in the twenties handicapping our future.

JC was at $25M, Cap at $20M, DJM probably just took $10M less.
Boom. There's your KAT money.

Correct, but he's the win-now play which is what we should be doing.
