Folks will blame one guy for this terrible defense but it's Kevin and TLC's fault.

Hey, gotta give credit where it's due. I've been down on Morant as an mvp candidate but to go out and lead a team to a big time W over a title favorite like PHX? Man thats huge. Amazing win. You really need these mvp moments to sway voters, especially on a small market team. I mean, I didn't even need to watch the game to just know he had to have come up big time to win against a full strength Suns team. Those guys are tough. Best record in the league? And you lead your team to a W? Should we go 'head and etch his name on the trophy or what? Shall I continue or have I made my point? -
Report: Trae Young is unhappy with Nate McMillian and is seeking a trade.

For some background (not that I need to give it to the likes of you), my brother in law is an insufferable Heat fan. All my board friends know that so you're confusion is definitely on brand. And, if you are a Heat fan, then the hopes I had of reconciling our many, many differences have surely been extinguished. Good day, sir. ..... I said good day! -
People look for reasons to excuse some players' shortcomings while refusing to do so for others. Trae has given ample reasons to excuse his poor defense. That's a simplification of what I'm saying.

Ohhh, we're calling him 'Ron' now? My bad. I'm all caught up. -
True, however, they're also willing to look past it to rationalize a pathway to success for him as a player. They're willing to take a guy who's trash on defense, and who's middling (at best) on offense and find a way to see how he can be successful in the league. But they deride a guy who's an all-NBA performer on offense because he's also a bad defender? Make that make sense to me, supes.

Have you seen any evidence that soth is not Brian? Yeah, me neither. #KindaSus -
Anyone remember how 'great' the Zards were gonna be this year when they started like 10-3? Yikes what a fall. Good thing they got a lot of young guys to build on who got a bunch of experience this year an... huh, they got like all vets? Yiiiiikes

It was Isola/Scal. Both basically lol'd at the idea. -
I can't see the tweet in your post but I have a feewing this is what's there .... Haha, such a sapsucker. Always finger-pointing under the guise of "coaching" when he loses. On a total other note, @Spud2nique what are your thoughts on Poole from GS? I think he's like Levert. Just a guy who scores when force-fed. Like Bazemore was always fake-hustle defense, guys like Levert/Poole are fake-hustle offense imho. Am I off on that? And, if I were a Cav fan, I'd be pissed that they got Levert. Typical bad-team scorer. Tricky dribblin' into low-percentage shots, can't pass or playmake, not a plus defender. But he had that one good year in Brooklyn when they were a borderline .500 team tho. Not a fan.

Yep. Show yourself, Brian. If that is your real name. And I'm pretty sure it was 'and' not 'or' Hunter plus picks in his proposal. -
THANK YOU!!! It's asinine the degree to which people put stock in defensive analytics for individual players. And, no, this is not a shot at @NBASupes. I can definitely think of better shots to take.
-
And that doesn't even count guys like Bagley who have low bbiq but who get 'credit' for defense arbitrarily because of the way the formula is calculated.

Which of you is "Brian from Atlanta" that calls into NBARadio from time to time? I'm usually with you but calling up to call for us to trade "whatever" for Julius Randle? Ya lost me, champ. Scalabrine literally lol'd at the idea and said he wouldn't trade anyone on the Hawks roster for Randle. That guy is the worst contract in the league. Clearly peaked in a contract year and has regressed back to his mean. Why anyone would want to trade anything of substance for him is beyond me. -
Laugh. The name of one of them is a homonym of Trae's name.
-
This is hyperbole. There have been worse defenders and are several currently in the league. And you know that too.
-
It hurt my heart to her Legler say that. He seems immune to the BSPN hype train but that assessment was trash.
-
Most of them say he literally just stands there and lets his man score just so he can get back on offense faster. Like, really? It's fine to say, when he's guarding a 6'7" dude, he really can't affect their shot and he can't really keep them out of the lane consistently. Well, duh? Guy's 5'11" and 160lbs soakin' wet. That's a fair assessment. But don't look at when he scores 30 and be like, "Bwah he prolly gave up 40 on the other end too, hyuk, hyuk". That's nonsense.
-
Another thing, while we're on Ja. My guy. My favorite analyst, Timmy Legler betrayed me. In talking Morant's MVP-ness, he was asked about the fact that MEM is like 100-2 without him. His answer was something like, "Well that's even more a testament to his greatness because, in his absence, his team embodies his spirit out there and plays hard, blah, blah ..." I'm like, so they're good without him ... so that shows how good he is?
