I will forever be mad at Little for what he did to me by not going to Tech (thank$ duke). However, I'd take him all day in the draft next year.

Heh, were you on the GT board his father was posting on?  Basically leading us on for months as if GT had a $hot.

Regardless of that, I still think he'll be a really good player.  Similar to Jaylen Brown.

    And I'm buying everything you're sellin @Roundfield32

I’m very very interested in seeing how Zion translates to the college game. I think best case he’s Larry Johnson and worst case Jason Maxiel/Kenneth Faried.

At worst, he's Anthony Bennett IMHO.

The Little kid will be much better than Zion but doesn't have a quarter the hype.

If by some miracle he develops a ton offensively I could see some Karl Malone in him as a ceiling.

    Too small for that.

Difference is that I'm a Dennis fan, and this is not wishful thinking. I just can't see Dennis here past the trade deadline.

Same here.  I think Peo's anger is being directed at folks who've never liked Dennis anyway.  I feel him there.  There are too many among us who just don't like the guy but won't just come out and say it.

I don't understand...Dennis and Trae will get plenty of playing time...He's not a bench player coach.  Why is this so hard to understand especially since we as Hawk fans just witness Teague and Dennis on the same team

Just seems weird.  Not something to get all hangry about.

And, be honest, 'mentor' isn't the first word that comes to mind when you think of Dennis.  I hope he stays and does a great job of it.

That was a great watch. I liked how they young men were warding off the comparisons to the scrubs and how they said they wanted to have their own thing going.

    Huerter called Travis ..”Mr. Slink”....

    comon son ..ScccchhhhSAY IT

SCCCHHHLLLENK! (It’s a fun name to say not as fun as Bobby Hebert though-Georgie C.)

Trae loves the word cerebral...used it twice!

Lastly, Huerter seems like a funny guy but for some reason I’m mesmerized by his head/haircut, he’s the true unicorn ?

I like these kids. We are in for a hot ticket!! ATL!!!!

I did think it was cute how Slink tried to suggest this wasn't a Steph, Klay, Dray draft.  Guess what Slenk?  Just like every other time you try to sell something ... nobody's buying it, bro.

? look I’m not a Georgia Tech fan nor do I have alliance to college teams (I do like Cal and UCLA and SDSU and SJSU but that’s a west coast thing) but I totally understand this must be a Duke recruitment hate thing more than a Zion hate and that’s cool with me. But the kid plays like Grandmama and I don’t mind that at all. Having said that, I agree his competition looked like the kid that was dunked on in that Michael Porter jr highlight. I just wanna know where all these lil Dan Dickau’s disappear to? Is there an island ? for them somewhere?

No, in this case, it's a Zion thing.  Kid is a 6'5" power forward who's actual game is a lot thinner than people seem willing to acknowledge.

Only way I draft this kid high is to hold him hostage to pillage the assets of a team who's gotten so enamored with highlights that they chose not to actually piece through whether or not the guy's game truly translates to a high-level NBA performer.   Kinda like what we jus' did to tha Mavs ....

Gafford, Bol and Jontay for the bigs..Any of the Duke big 3 (Zion is a freak) and Langford and Little as well. I’ve got 8 guys on our radar. Hopefully with our pick being a top 5 and the Mavs being 8-12 we can land a couple of these guys. In any event, if nothing else, we are about to be fun!

Hey, if we pick Zion, can we make the other NBA teams sign the 5'8" future insurance salesmen that he's used to beastin' against?  Ya know, the ones incapable of making him expand his game beyond highlight dunking on them.  The ones that can't make him actually handle the ball and, oh I dunno, take an actual jumpshot.  Can the NBA become those guys starting next year, please?

Am I laying it on think enough?

Good for you. Overworking these kids like professionals, smh.

But what did he prescribe himself for that torn shoulder he sustained in patting himself on the back?  Heigh-ohhhhh   C'mon, you laughed KBToys.

I royally pissed off the mom of a kid I treated 2-3 years ago who was a 13 year old pitcher with elbow pain.  This was sometime in July, and I shut him down.  I told the mom that I would not clear him to get back to competitive pitching for 6 months.   I put him in physical therapy for 6 weeks, and then had the therapist come up with a throwing routine for him.

Sports parents are crazy.  Crazy.  She probably got a second opinion and the kid was back on the mound in a week.  #ScrewDrKBToys

As long as no one tries to turn him into a body builder, vigorous strength training will cause him no harm.

What Bender explained IIRC was that actually playing heavy minutes, in addition to the weight training, etc., while he was still growing was the basis for the issues. I always think back to that when I hear a kid drafted who's still growing.

I imagine, after Bender, NBA docs are more in tune with that potential issue though.

Sorry to interrupt your day.  I imagine you're a couple hours into an epic yacht rock session on XM radio right about now.

Shouldn’t train with weights before 18 years of age imo..calisthenics is certainly encouraged though.

Mmhmm, it's why I didn't let my daughter do gymnastics.  That's a weird world.  Plus she's too busy straight beastin' foos on the soccer thing.

As a related aside, I went to a kid's track meet in FL and them kids are all juicing.  They have to be.  It's ridiculous.  These kids are 6 to 10 years old and are cut like freaking Terrell Owens was.  Not normal, "parents".

It all depends on whether or not his epiphyseal plates are sealed up.  If they are still open, then there is still some growth potential.

The main plates Rayford needs to worry about are dinner plates .. pause for canned laughter.

I do have a serious question though.  Is there any concern with a guy like JJJ who's still growing amidst all the weightlifting and rigorous physical abuse he's about to undergo?  I always harken back to Jonathan Bender who says he's been told that going through all that at a young age contributed to his injury history/short career.

Haha, the people don't need me to confirm your ... bedtime stories.  I feel like I took an alley-oop into the wrong basket.

What about the Spellman kid?  Horfo or Draymo?

Lol no not at all. I just like to rip the scrubs every chance I get. Never been a fan of the scrubs. I don’t mind hookers. @kg01 can confirm.

I can totally confirm.  Those aren't housekeepers filing out of spud2's extended stay room every night.  "Why an extended stay?", you ask.  Well, after that time spud2 was on First 48, the no-tell motel revoked his lifetime pass.

On topic though, is this guy more Draymond or more like a male version of Alice?

Its weird to me that the Doncic/Bamba lovers won't even give this a chance.  They have already determined that those other players will have much better careers without any evidence to support such claims.  They are so locked into Trae's defense but not Doncic's defense or Bamba's offense.  I'm not sure I've seen anyone with Trae's range before and he shoots with such ease both off the dribble and in a catch and shoot situation.  That is a talent that could push him to stardom.  Don't see that with the other 2

    I ..... was a Doncic/Bamba lover .... but I'm a Hawks fan first and always.

So I'm all aboard the Rayford-copter.  Give the dude time to work on whatever the deficiencies are in his game, build the team around his strengths and go from there.

We'll be aiight .... probably much more than that.

If you think this draft didn't give us that superstar player, then it's even more fool hardy to spend big bucks on a center with limited offensive talents as great as a defender/rebounder that he is.

Eggsactly.  I agree that free agency shld be a route that's available to us, in addition to the draft.  However, as if right now, it just isn't.  If we handle draft/trade phases effectively,  the free agency leg will open for us.

    Takes patience.

I never said we are signing capela. Lol ....a more realistic target is Noel whom I believe we will get.

Noel's problem is attitude and work ethic though.  Not a good culture piece regardless of on-court fit.

I'd rather try to elevate a gleague guy like the dude from HOU that shoots underhand free throws.
