  1. Quote: Chris Broussard is reporting Philly prolly wont get Brand because Brand wont take a paycut from his 16 mill a season. He said they are poised to offer Smoove a deal starting at 11 mill per year with 8% increase every year. He also wrote that he heard whispers the Hawks dont want to go past 11 mill. We'll match without a doubt. It may mean that Chillz will have to go but there's no way they'll let Smoove go to Philly. He sell tickets and he's too popular among most Hawks fans especially those casual fans who just started caring about the Hawks again after the playoffs.

    How about....

Quote: Daniel Gibson. If we made a move for Daniel Gibson? He's a FA... He's a great shooter. Could a backcourt of JJ and Gibson run our offense? No way! I'd rather Bibby/Law split the minutes alongside JJ. Plus we need the money to re-sign the Joshes anyway. Don't forget how financially strapped/cheap our owners are.
  3. Quote: In case some have forgot. Exactly what kind of contract is JJ going to command next year? He still has two left on his deal. We must extend his contract next year or risk losing him to FA. I'm pretty sure he'll want a raise and will get it either from the Hawks or someone else. Impressive resume: Two time All Star and counting, USA Basketball player, clutch playoff performer. I'm thinking 5yrs / $75-80M which averages out to about $15-16M/yr.
  4. Quote: Hey I didn't make this up, take a look at this article on ESPN (scroll down toward the bottom half of the page and read the caption under Josh Smith's picture) Link to ESPN Article Here's a quote from that article: Who You Know to Watch: LeBron James Who You Need to Watch: Josh Smith, Hawks F. Shawn Marion, one of many NBAers who named Smith as the league's best athlete, calls him "a freak." Smith's credentials: In 2005, Smith became the second-youngest player to win the slam-dunk contest. In four NBA seasons, the 6'9'', 235-pound forward has averaged 13.6 ppg and 7.4 rpg. I don't know if he's the most underrated player but he's definitely getting a lot of love from his NBA peers. Ooops...here's the correct link to the ESPN article: http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3424124

  6. Quote: to the continuation of J-Smooth's Shock the World tour? This board is awfully subdued after game 5. Like Joe said, it ain't over! I'll be in section 115, mid-court, screaming louder than I did on Monday. We ain't Philly, they have more height, but we have more HEART. Atlanta fans won games 3 and 4 as much as the players did. While Boston will be better prepared, we'll do it again tomorrow! LETS GET PUMPED . . . GO HAWKS! I'll be there in my normal seats in section 304. I hope Friday's game is as crazy as games 3 and 4!
  7. Quote: Josh Smith is trying to compensate for the limited offensive skillset of two of his teammates who received the most minutes on the team..Marvin Williams and Josh Childress. I had suggested if there was a Maggette or a Michael redd on the floor with JJ, then Josh Smith can focus on being a low post player.. However, right now, he is extending himself because MW/Chillz are scared to shoot long range shots. Josh looks undisciplined at times, but I believe if he had shooters on the floor who aren't timid and/or clumsy, then Josh would spend more time making mid-range jumpers and defending the paint more.. The Hawks need a franchise small forward to complement Joe Johnson and Josh is the only one who has shown he is willing to take those shots. People may try to dismiss the inability of Chillz/Marvin being afraid to shoot threes as a admirable quality-- thinking they know their limitations.. but its NOT! They shouldn't be commanding those type of minutes on the floor at the SF/Sg position if they are so limited offensively that they can't consistently drive to the basket nor is willing to shoot a three point shot.. Josh is extending himself because he wants his team to win.. Forgive me for the Vick analogy, but when he was playing, when the WRs weren't catching the ball and the RBs couldn't get in the end zone, then Vick took it upon himself to do their job.. Not because he wanted to, but he wanted to win so bad.. M I agree 100%. I really hope we don't blow all of our future cap space on signing J-Chill and Marvin to long term contracts.
  8. Thanks for the heads up man I just TiVoed it.
  9. Quote: 1st Team C - Duncan PF - Garnett SF - Prince SG - Battier PG - Rondo 2nd Team C - Camby PF - R. Wallace SF - B. Bowen SG - Bell PG - Dooling 3rd Team C - D. Howard PF - Hayes SF - Pierce SG - Bryant PG - Billups It amazes me that JSmoove can be 2nd in the league in blocked shots two years in a row and not even get a mention on this list. I wonder if he was 1st in blocks instead of 2nd behind Camby would he still be ignored by the mainstream press.
  10. Quote: http://www.pogobrowser.com/demo.html This thing is REALLY cool. It's not open to a public BETA yet but hopefully it won't be much longer. wow!
  11. Quote: Quote: He'd better not be the GM/coach. There needs to be someone to keep him from getting out of control. He will try to get rid of everyone. If he does become coach i think you can kiss Smith goodbye. I can't see those two coexisting. Who knows? Maybe what Josh needs is some discipline. I agree Iverson admitted that Brown was the best coach he ever had and they did make it to the NBA finals together. Don't worry, J-Smoove isn't going anywhere he'll outlast Brown because I don't see Brown sticking around more than a few years at the most. I'd definitely take him over Woody next year considering we now have a veteran backcourt in Bibby and JJ. I do think that Marvin could be in trouble because Brown won't put up with his occasional lack of effort and his disappearing in games too often IMO.
  12. Quote: Would you rather have the limited Marvin Williams who can't shoot the three, looks clumsy and lost on the court with a limited upside at 21 years old. Or what you rather give a more athletic, explosive player who can shoot three, attack the basket and is a player more accustomed to a uptempo style. And there is room for improvement and his ceiling hasn't been reached yet.. Give Gerald Green a chance..the Hawks should make a move and get him--NOW! Green's role would increase the following year when the Hawks move either Marvin and/or Childress via trade.. Draft do-over opportunity..let's take advantage of it.. The Hawks drafted Horford in a virtual do-over from the previous year with Shelden Williams.. I agree wholeheartedly...I've always liked Gerald Green and I think he would thrive as a 6th man on our team once the following happens in 2008: 1) New GM and Coach 2) Chillz leaves via FA 3) Marvin is traded for a decent defensive minded C or whatever we can get for him 4) Horford is moved to 4 5) JSmoove moved to 3 6) Diop is signed to play the Dikembe Mutumbo role (not saying he's that good but at least he can block shots) New 2008 lineup: C - Diop/Zaza PF - Horford/Solo SF - Smoove/(Sign another FA shooter) SG - JJ/Green PG - Bibby/Law
  13. Quote: Beating teams like the Knicks are not an accomplishment. Of course I wouldn;t say the trade is bad since the Hawks gave up nothing. But it simply is a trade that just didn;t really improve anything enough to be a difference maker. As a shooter Bibby has been terrible in 3 out of the last 4 games. Some people say the Hawks have a great shooting backcourt, but that's obviously not the case. Oh ye of little patience....let's just see how it plays out through the end of the year before jumping to any major conclusions.
  14. Quote: Magloire would help the team IF he's motivated to play. From what I have heard from NJ, he played like garbage for the Nets this year. He can't be any worse that what we've got now behind Horford. Sign him BK!
  15. Yes it is great just like all of her past albums. I think she is awesome and one of the few true R&B songstresses left.
  16. Or maybe he take Crittenton over Conley. You know BK likes bigger guards who can play "multiple positions" (maybe not that well though )
  17. Check out these comments about Billy Knight from this excerpt from his lateest blog: If you watch Saturday's highlights, you will inevitably focus first on the crossover dribble Deron Williams used to send Jacque Vaughn tumbling to the floor and free himself for an uncontested layup. But that was merely his flashiest move. And with his size, strength and better-than-advertised quickness, Williams is convincing Jerry Sloan to let him check Parker at one end ... even when it's Bowen waiting for him at the other end. He's draining his 3-ball, too. Williams hit four triples in five attempts in racking up 31 more points, to go with 34 in Game 2 and 26 in Game 1. He's making up for all those times you didn't get to see him play this (breakout) season, because he's so far removed from the NBA mainstream here in Utah, and he's making me think of Hawks general manager Billy Knight every time I watch him play. As in: Can you believe that the Knight Hawks thought it was a good idea to pass up Chris Paul and this kind of talent to draft Marvin Williams in 2005? They passed up two franchise point guards in a sport where you're always looking for point guards and centers first? In fact, this kid is making folks ask lots of questions these days. "I'm having fun right now," said Williams, who also happens to be making the Jazz look increasingly smart -- as he works so well with in tandem with Carlos Boozer -- for picking him ahead of Paul.
  18. Probably started by a Blazers fan. It won't work for salary cap purposes and we don't want Randolph anyway. I would only accept Aldridge and Jack for the #3 pick and I'd make damn sure Aldridge is OK medically first.
  19. What site do you play on?
  20. I almost 100% sure Law will be there. Not so sure about Conley though.

    My dream offseason

Quote: Obvious move? 1) After winning the lottery, draft Oden. Next? 2) After retaining the Indy pick draft Conley (likely). Next? 3) Sign and trade for Gerald Wallace. Trade MW, SW, Lo, and Lue or Salim or MW, ZaZa, and Salim for Gerald Wallace resigned. JJ might be our starting team's worst defender... Oden/ZaZa JS/SJ Gerald Wallace/JC JJ/JC? Conley/AJ Defense without the offensive liability. These guys would eat up offenses for points. W I'd love that, the only problem is that there's NO WAY Charlotte will sign and trade him to a division rival. Michael Jordan isn't that dumb, plus Wallace has been their MVP for a while now so I really think they are going to pay him market value in order to keep him.
  22. Quote: Hibbert would be the best player available at #3 and I also think Hortford would be a good player at that spot. However, Hibbert is a better free throw shooter, has more size and this something that the Hawks need desperately. And generally Georgetown has a history of developing solid centers: Ewing, Mourning, Mutombo and hopefully Hibbert !!! As for #12, Acie law would be a good fit as well... I don't see 'Craig Claxton' being with the Hawks next year. Law is a leader and he 'wants' to lead and have that pressure and that's a good thing. Plus, Acie can learn the ropes from Anthony Johnson who is 34 years old. If the Hawks draft these two guys, it would really help the team.. I agree, even though I slightly prefer Mike Conley, Jr. over Acie Law because I think he is more of a pure pass first point guard. I'll be happy with either of those PGs though.
  23. Quote: then trade JJ for a center (and include Speedy in the trade). I would keep JJ and J-Smoove, but everybody else is trade bait...and I would LOVE to pawn off Craig Claxton to somebody but even Isaiah isn't that stupid (I don't think). By the way if we get the #3 pick I would trade down slightly and then draft Hibbert while getting another pick or player from our trade partner. I think a Hibbert/Pachulia combo can be our long term answer at center because they should complement each other well.
  24. Her is Chad Ford's draft analysis of the Hawk's 2006 draft: Quote: Round 1: Shelden Williams, PF, Duke (No. 5) Round 2: Solomon Jones, C, South Florida (No. 33) Analysis: The good news is that the Hawks ended up with a solid player. Shelden Williams will be a decent NBA rebounder and shot-blocker. The bad news? The Hawks drafted fifth and, in my opinion, ended up with a player who didn't belong in the top 10 or, perhaps, the top 15. Williams is a poor man's Antonio Davis. Several players on the board, most notably Brandon Roy and Randy Foye, fit a need for Atlanta and will be better NBA players than Williams. In deciding on Williams, I think the Hawks jumped to a conclusion too early. If they don't make major changes in the offseason, they'll be back in the high lottery next year. And if the pick isn't in the top three, it goes to Phoenix. Grade: C Looks like Chad Ford was exactly right about Shelden, Roy and Foye and also our destiny to be picking at the top of this year's draft because of BK's ineptitude. We must get lucky this year and keep our top 3 pick or we might as well starting looking forward to the 2008 draft because we'll be picking high AGAIN!!
