  1. We should have won in the 4th and OT easily. We are great at finding ways to lose. This team just collapses late.
  2. We can't close. AJ needs to stop with the bad turnovers. He's had some really bad ones the last few games.
  3. Trae still not himself. He has lost complete confidence in his shot. Hopefully he can get it back at some point this year.
  4. Until this team starts boxing out we wont win many games. I just dont get it. Its basketball 101. You have to box out, especially ehen you get murdered on the boards nightly
  5. This was always our biggest issue IMO, we don't have the depth this year. Any injuries were going to hurt us badly, having 3 starters out is devastating. We are forced to play scrubs and super young guys now. Hopefully AJ/JJ can step it up. And we need Trae to be Trae.
  6. Murray being our best 3pt shooter so far this season is a travesty. We are lucky to still have a winning record considering that. At least we have potential upside if our guys can start making threes.
  7. Trae can't shoot this year. I hope he gets it together, but that Miami series seems to have taken him down a peg mentally. He just doesn't look the same.
  8. We don't box out either. Just getting murdered on the offensive boards
  9. How are we shooting this bad. Its like the whole team is in a shooting slump. Trae's 3pt shot is broken this year
  10. Toronto not doing that. But sign me up for Siakam if they are.

    Trae

I think we are all reading too much into this. Players and coaches spend probably 5 hours per day with their team for 9 straight months. The sport is extremely competitive and everyone is trying to win. There are CONSTANT arguments, disputes, disagreements between players, coaches, and opponents. This one just happened to leak. I'd be willing to bet this has happened with many other teams as well and it just didn't leak. They just cite "back soreness" as the reason for missing the game and move on.

    Trae

Really hard to tell who's the aggressor in this situation since we have no context. Nate is a pretty chill coach that doesn't really have a history of butting heads with players. At the same time Trae is as close to an ironman as you can get and pretty much never load manages. Sounds like someone had an attitude and it led to this. Hopefully this is a one-time misunderstanding.
  13. So you are using his rookie/soph on court +/- to show that he has a career negative on court? This is very selective, and unfair analysis. His only 2 years with a negative on court number were his rookie and sophomore years, when we were clearly rebuilding and not trying to compete. Even in year 2, we were 7 points better with him on the court than off, so we were much "less bad" with him on the court. I think it's much better to look at Trae's numbers starting in year 3, where we added vets to the team and actually tried to win. In the last 3 years he is averaging a +3.5 on court. I'm sure I could go dig up many stars on court +/- from their rookie/soph years during a rebuild and would find similar results. Bad argument.
  14. This is what happens in an 82 games season when random rotational players are out and new players are in. Teams aren't scouted NEARLY as well, so it's easy for a team missing key starters to win. When i play pickup against players who havent seen me before, i can get to my spots much easier. When i play my best friends, it's much more difficult. This is basketball 101 and is true even on the pro level, as evidenced by lower scoring games and worse percentages in the playoffs EVERY year. It's frustrating to me listening to some fans b/c some ppl look at this as an example of "this team is better without Trae" or Grizz are better without Ja, or Mavs are better without Luka type nonsense. Without Trae this team wouldn't have a prayer against anyone in the playoffs. You need players who can create offense in a slower grind, playoff style, intense atmosphere when teams are playing harder and truly scouting you. This is why stars win championships. Trae had a bad playoff last year against a defense he hadn't seen before and had no lob threats with Capela or Collins, and noone else to handle the ball. I'm not going to hold that against him. Most stars have had horrible playoff series at some point in their careers. It happens. It does take more time to gel with a player like him though, anyone who is ball dominant it will take time. But if we are going to win anything we have to make it work.
  15. You're not allowed to defend Embiid. I guess this is how teams feel against us when Trae gets all the flop calls.
  16. Bigs have figured out that Murray won't throw the lob on the PNR so they are just stepping up when he comes off the screen which takes away his midrange J. Then he basically gets trapped or has to force up a really tough shot.
  17. With a center like Capela, you have to have shooting all over the floor. Capela would be great in a system like that. He is a great defender, help defender, rebounder and lob threat but he just can't shoot at all and everyone gets affected by it. I would LOVE to do a Cap for Ayton trade. Since Ayton is having a down year so far we get a chance to buy low. No way they would have done this deal in the offseason IMO. I do like Bogi more than Crowder though, but they may insist on him being included. I'd probably do the deal.
  18. Defensive scouting has figured out Murray. As soon as he comes off the screen they step up on him to take the midrange away. He needs to learn to counter this.
  19. Is it just me or is Trae playing some d?
  20. I am also skeptical, BUT If they are throwing in two firsts (even if late)? That is a tough one. We get a much smaller contract, 2 tradeable assets, and still receive similar (potentially better) on court production. If he doesn't regress this would be a huge win. I do expect some regression, though. I don't think there is any debate that Lauri is a better fit offensively with Capela as our starting C. Defensively Collins is better. Lauri is shooting his career average from 3, but he is shooting significantly better from 2 so that could regress. They are similar rebounders. The question is do we weight Collins defense and lob threat better than Lauri's more prolific 3pt shooting, smaller contract AND two late 1sts? I'm not sure I do, and am starting to talk myself into this deal. I'm a huge believer in floor spacing. It makes life easier for the entire team, but especially Trae and Murray. Having Lauri over Collins on the perimeter is a massive upgrade. Even though Collins has turned into a solid 3pt shooter, he's only attempting 3 per game and teams aren't really worried about him out there. But then we lose a bit defensively. It's a tough call but I would probably roll the dice. I don't see any deals better than this one and if Collins continues his bad streak he's going to be seen as a bad contract and lose a lot of value.
