  1. Not really. I know a few people that won't go to the game when it’s free. Saying they are not going to win anyway. Or who are they playing. They will then say. When they start to win I will go to the games. So yes Freeloaders do turn down freebies. But what you can count on is ignorant people always being ignorant. Dang, did it again. I did not know who I was replying to. Sorry bout that.
  2. Quote: I'm sick of these BS lies that "the people of Atlanta are dying for good basketball". I'm tired of reading it here and I'm definitely tired of hearing people call in on radio shows and say it. It's just a bunch of bullshit. All those people who pretend like they are clamoring for good basketball were nowhere to be seen during the 90's when we had consistent 50 win playoff teams. They weren't showing up at the games then either, even the playoff games, which we couldn't sell out. Most of those people who claim to be anxious for good ball show how full of [censored] they are by saying "the hawks haven't been good since Nique"... So stop spreading this false notion that winning is all it takes in this city. It isn't and it hasn't been for nearly 20 years now and that's a fact. Chillz, that’s why I take the old fashion fan approach, I am at the game even when we are on a 7 game loosing streak. I am usually at the first and last game of the season be it a 13 game season or a 40 game season. I sport my Hawks apparel every opportunity I get. But does that make me more of a fan than my friends that have their Hawks apparel tucked neatly away waiting for a 4-1 start of a season. When they have to through it back in the wash to get the dust and smell off. I don't know. I guess it is difficult to define a "Fan". I watch many of games with my brother but he will not attend a game unless I buy him a ticket. But when I buy him a ticket he never terns it down. He just doesn’t want to spend his money on a struggling franchise. I on the other hand want to help a struggling franchise get back on their feet. Our motivations are different. He thinks that if we don't support them and give them money they will see this and improve. I think that if we show them support and they see we have their back no matter what they will step up to the plate and improve. Same desire same love different tactics. That’s why you have not seen my brother on this board in years. But I am hear almost everyday. No it does not take me a million posts to get my point across or to bond with my fellow fans but I am here.
  3. They say never argue with a fool because people watching can't tell the difference. You have once again suckered me into responding to one of your post. I thought there was a possibility of having an adult conversation with you. I stand corrected. I admit I made a mistake and I truly apologize for granting you the opportunity to make a bigger fool of yourself. Never again should I put you in harms way. As a "Hawks Fan" I owe you that much respect.
  4. Quote: Quote: Quote: Check ANY TEAM in the league who was horrible for 7 years and still sold out and had lots of fans consistently. Try the Nuggets, Clippers, Kings back in the day, the Mavericks, the Heat, Orlando, check out ALL those teams before they were winning, it's the SAME situation.. it's funny that you didn't address this comment. As to your little "Kings" comment, why don't you check their attendance in the mid 90s before they went to the playoffs and had been horrible for many years.. It's not all about attendance. The Atlanta crowd is a passionless and emotionless bunch. It was shown at the allstar game even. I remember people talking about how dead the Atlanta crowd was. Like I said, everybody realizes it but the people on this board. Every time I read this All-Star talk it just makes me shake my head. Do you realize how dumb you sound to think that the only people in attendance at the all-star game were Atlanta fans? I guess the only people at the super bowl were from Miami? I really wish that you would stop and think about what you are saying. Then to repeat it several times gives me the impression that you don't have the ability of forethought. You just wonder aimlessly through life reacting to every word said and every action taken with the first thing that comes to mind. And with the 8 years that you have been on this earth your mind does not seem to have a variaty of first thoughts.
  5. What's the excuse for the allstar game in Atlanta? All the fans were sick that night? ______________________________________________________________ I will answer the all star question. First of all a lot of the people at the all-star game were not from Atlanta. You do realize that this is a national event? A second note (well not a second note it has been repeated time after time in this post alone. It just takes a little comprehension.) The Atlanta Fans don't have anything to cheer for. At the all-star game we would be cheering for another team. Now if we were loud and cheerful at that game I would then question whether or not you were a Hawks fan.
  6. I mean it is painstakingly obvious. If we tank and are the worst team in the NBA buy a margin of 10 games there is still a possibility of getting the 4th or 5th pick. However winning is something we have more control over. We can get motivated and just try try try. Fans can even go to the games and Help motivate them. You know that is not against the rules. We can upset some teams we can gain confidence go on winning streaks just flat out win if its by 1 point or by 20. It’s possible because anything is possible on any given night. If it is not someone let me know so I can quite watching now. There would be no use if we know the outcome of all the games.
  7. I guess we did not learn the first time. We expect to be treated fairly but they step on us everytime.
  8. Thats what I'm talking bout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Like I said we need to go to the games to show them some love and support.
  10. [quote Did you clap when one of the players at those games went down injured? That seems to be the point of the anger, here. Otherwise, well-written post. No I did not clap or celebrate any injuries. Yes I believe that it is immoral to celebrate the injury of any living thing. Like I stated some of us post without for-thought. Not realizing the impact of what we are saying but just saying what our emotions lead us to say. No I don't condone this guy’s action nor would I condone my children bragging about anything they have to the kids on the block. I do know that this will happen because they are not trained with the for-thought to understand the effectiveness of what they are saying only the repercussions of the broken rules set by an authority figure.
  11. Quote: First of all if you love your forum and team as much as you all claim you do, then you would donate out of the goodness of your hearts instead of stooping so low as to try to bribe moderators. Tru dat, tru dat What classifies a person as a true hawks fan anyway? I mean when you abandon the team when they are loosing then are back on board when they win. I think we call those band wagon fans. So I think a real fan sticks with it through and through. GO to the games, support your team. I think if we always had a full arena our team would get better and Vice/versa What makes you a hawksquawker? Posting a few thousand posts? Coping and pasting stats? Having an opinion? Or just trying to read to get information, rumors, and just trying to see if others feel the way you do. I don't know the answers but what I do know is when I was struggling in college, the people I called supporters were those who helped me financially those who put in time to make sure I had what I needed and those who gave sound advice. Those that repeated my problems to me, complained about how bad I was doing and not coming to boost me up, I just saw them as people talking and nothing more. With that said I would like you to sit down and ask yourself what kind of fan am I. Am I a talker or a squawker? Cause some of you are talking out the side of your neck and just saying things for the sake of saying them. Just put a little thought in to what you are saying. I am not complaining about anyone. I love the controversy, I love the adversity. If everyone was always sympathetic with the hawks this would be a boring site. As a matter of fact I will go out on a limb to say that people like phx_suns make being a fan that more interesting. Like going to a Hawks/Knicks game with your hawk’s jersey and knicks fans all around you. Or like when I was in Memphis I sat in my uncles season ticket seats as red as I could be, as hawkish/hawksquawkish as I could be. I made the most noise I could make and I taunted the fans and players as if I was at Phillips. It’s the only kid on the block with ice-cream, the "I got what you can't have", and the "my team is better than yours" syndrome. It is life folks. It is what we all love about having a favorite team. Without it the game is just a game. So enjoy it. Embrace it and stand proud as a Hawks/Hawksquawk fan. Stick your Hawk scribed chest out and beat on it as only a true Hawks fan could. I love you guys. Now make me proud. Go to the games. Support the admin. Be a true fan.
  12. I must add my 2 cents in to defend the Admin. We have readers that are not registered to Hawksquawk reading all day. They contribute not even a comment. We have people posting non stop with thousands of post. We have admin that have a job of their own. They have volunteered to be of service so that we as fans, those that are trolls, and people that are just interested in seeing what’s going on have a place to visit. If all the admin are asking is for them not to have to come out of their pockets in addition to their time then, I feel there should be no questions asked. Money should pour in. Especially for those with upwards of 3 and 4 thousand post. This is our home and a little maint. is expected. And we should all help out. With that said; I am going to give my $20 right now.
  13. Quote: They actually started tonight with the Cavs game: http://www.nba.com/hawks/tickets/Game_Promotions.html#cfa jan 6 - clippers jan 15 - celtics jan 27 - 76ers mar 3 - knicks mar 10 - t-wolves So who will be at the Jan 27th game. I know you want your statues.
  14. Yeah I like it also. But I go to a lot of games and I get kinda tired of seeing the same thing over and over again. I like the people walking around giving out free stuff and getting a section loud. I think they need more of them just keeping noise in the arena. To make it at least sound like we have a packed crowd. What I do think we need in conjunction with or instead of the thundersticks is the wavy ballons they used to have. Some more time out shows and halftime showes. Like I said I go to alot of games I can almost predict what is going to happen. But I think the entertainment is for the occasional fan not the full fledge fans. Cause we are there for the game experience anyway.
  15. Quote: Well, simply, this team with a top 3 pick would win significantly more games over the next 10 years than this team without it. W Uhh don't we already have a top 3 pick?
  16. Let’s completely blow up the team trade everyone that is on the team now. Fire the coach and the GM. Oh yeah we need new owners cause they don't know what they are doing. Completely rebuild the team with your new GM. Make sure you get young players that can grow together. Make sure you get a coach that can handle new young players. Then give them bout 3 years to gel. But before they have enough time to work together for various reasons lets start the process all over again. This will make sure that Squawkers have something to talk about for ages to come. Completely satisfying both the optimist and the pessimist all at the same time. An ingenious plan in the making. Who'd-a-thunk-it. We keep you excited long enough to make you come to the games. When you tire of it we get you excited once again. An ever spinning wheel. The best part about it no one would be the wiser. Does that seem familure. Give the team some time people. Please.
  17. No matter what happens he has the same excuse that all of the reast of our coaches had, "my team was hurt" "I did not have anything to work with.". What did wilkins say when he left? "All I needed was a star player.".
  18. There I said it. What is he gonna do mess up the rest of the season?
  19. This would probably make Salim our Boris Diaw of 07. But I like the change of scenery anyway plus we get a big. I get tired of getting punked in the low. I like Zaza he has heart but I don't think the talent is all there. Give the man a little help cause lo sure as hell is not doing it. For some reason it just seems like we have one center and I hate to see Z get a foul. Cause a few more and we are assed out.
  20. does it seem like since the rebuilding of the Hawks (post Nique era) that whenever a coach gets notices for his shortcomings (Terrible use of good talent) we seem to get plagued with injuries? I mean think about it. It has happend with Lon Kruger, Terry Stott’s, Lenny Wilkins, and now Woodson. We always have strange injuries also. No broken bones (that’s a good thing mind you). Just springs, pulls and fractures(Not that I wish this on any player or anyone for that matter). This is always an excuse or reason for holding on to this coach for that much longer. No don’t put me on the fire Mike Woodson bandwagon because I don’t have my ticket yet. However it seems to be the popular consciences on this board. It seems as if I have fell victim of the injuries alibi once again. With the kind hart that I have, I wanna see what this man can do with all of his tools. I mean I would not hire an auto mechanic and give him my incomplete set of tools then judge him on the S___ty job he does. Not a fair judgment on my part. But dang it just seems like the same story different cast. I hope everyone knows by now that I love the Hawks I really do but D@mn enough is enough. When can I go see my family and friends with my head held high for a change? I hate to go to Chicago or Memphis and hear the same line, “you still a Hawks Fan LOL” “Just give up and fallow a real team.” “they have never been anything and never will”. What do I have to say year after year after year, “just wait till next year we have new this new that gave up this gave up that now we have “Potential””. Can someone please help me? I can only take so much. Sorry bout that I was just venting. Thinking about it gives me a headache. Just wanted to get that out and see what the board has to say.
  21. I will be at all of these games. Where would you like to meet? We could all meet up for halftime in phillips experiance.
  22. Quote: and forget to tape it you can still watch it....for free. Just sign up here http://www.nba.com/broadband/league_pass.jsp and you can watch any game that has been played within the last 48 hours. It is basically a tape delayed version of League Pass. For example if you wanted to watch last nights Nets/Lakers game you could just sign up and watch it now. You can also fast forward it if you just want to see the second half or certain parts of the game. If you already have paid for League Pass then you can watch a hawks game live even if you are traveling, as long as you can find a broadband internet connection. Pretty cool. Does anyone know if this still works?
  23. I understand the moral. I know we are all frustrated. But I love this board. It is like a mini soap opera. You have your drama; you have your comedy and its all for one common concern. We are one big family from the one we all love to hate, to watching our little children grow up. I just wanted to add my little tid-bit to try to keep us all grounded until the Hawks fly high.
  24. Quote: I can't believe how horrible LO Wright has been. He really is pretty much useless and no help whatsoever to our team. Its pretty sad. He played better last year for Memphis. What the hell is wrong with him. HE looks old and slow out there and couldn't hit a FT if his life depended on it. Terrible signing that everyone including me thought would be at least solid at the time. He just hasn't produced anything for us. This brings a good question to mind. How long does it take a player to develop chemistry? My thoughts it would depend on the position. I.E it would take a lot longer for a PG to learn the playing styles, player speed how they need to receive the ball to maximize shot selection ECT. But a Center; you need to know week sides, how a player defends and when to back him up. Other than that your job does not change from team to team. I am not sure how hard it would be for a Center on offence. All you basketball geniuses please feel free to help me out.
