  1. Quote: How can Speedy shut down Lebron? Lebron will squash him like an ant. They don't even play the same position. We have a lot of long players to give Lebron sweat though. Could have used Marvin's Defense I know they don't play the same position. It was joke. I guess you haven't seen his new Nike commercials with kid, business, and wise Lebron.
  2. One of the radio announcers said that phoney Ric Bucher from espn was in the building. He called him a phoney because he ranked us last in the league after not seeing any preseason games or practices. Let's see how long it takes for people to start changing their tunes in the media, especially Ric Bucher. We play the Lebrons Tuesday so you know with our 2-1 start the media will be paying attention to that game. I expect Speedy to shut down kid Lebron and Joe to put up 50 points on business Lebron. j/k.
  3. Quote: Arroyo 9-9 Another bench player going off just like Nate Robinson did in the Knicks game. Luckily for us our ENTIRE bench plays well.
  4. Marvin will make us that much better when he returns. If we can play like this and add his agressiveness in the mix we could be pretty d@mn good.
  5. The radio announcers said something like 4 years.
  6. I just didn't feel right after Wed.'s game but now I feel great. That Philly game was scary b/c I've seen that type of performance so often in the past couple of years from this team but they pulled it together against the Knicks. It looks like there is going to be a lot of parity in the league, so far it looks like anybody can beat anybody.
  7. Good post. 1. Josh actually posted up a few times but I can only remember one time where he received the ball. He shot a fade away jumper from the baseline and missed. He does need to drive more. 5. When we ran Speedy was at the point. Lue is better offensively but mostly he just pounds the ball even when we have a chance to run. If we plan to run we'll need Speedy. 8. After the scrimmage I felt like Chilz wouldn't get off to his usual slow start and it seems to be true. Most players really start to breakout in their third season. On the other side 2. I hope Speedy starts to blend in soon. I can't wait to see what we do against the Suns. 3. I can't wait for Marvin to come back. I felt he really could have helped us in the Philly game.
  8. Quote: It's rediculous. You did that on purpose. Come one tell the truth.
  9. As with all losses this one was hard to take. More so for me because I was so amped about the start of the season. We had multiple chances to mount a comback but fell short. I was hoping Josh Smith was holding back in the preseason and would breakout this being his third season and all but I didn't see any signs of that tonight. The good thing about the NBA is that you don't normally have to wait long between games like the NFL. I will be watching Fri. in hopes that we will fair better against the Knicks. No snap judgements for me, at least that what I promised myself this season. GO HAWKS! btw. Dwight Howard is a word in the dictionary I discovered yet. OMFG.
  10. I'm glad my Gmen didn't have to play this Falcons team.
  11. ...who like to go to the RealGM sites of teams we play and read their official game thread? I was over at the Cleveland site and read theirs. They started out so cocky talking about can Larry Hughes shut down Joe Johnson. Ha ha. Alot of fans of other teams assume they are going to get an easy win and then it turns out to be otherwise. I enjoy so much watching the tone of the thread change and reading about their new found humility(does that make me a troll even though I don't post?). I think alot of fans will be in for a big suprise this season.
  12. Just happened to catch the end of this game and the over time. The most exciting ending I've seen this year. Good win for you guys after losing to my Gmen. On a side note I can't believe how many Giants games I've already seen this year being in Atlanta and tomorrow I get to see another.

Thanks Dolfan. Thanks Chilz. I haven't seen Gears of War yet but will look into it when I make my purchase.

    Xbox 360

Let me say that I am an Halo addict. I played the first part until I beat it on every level. All things being equal that is the reason I choose the xbox. It's not a matter of if I choose it over any other system. It's a matter of if I choose to buy it period. I would buy it for Halo 2 and 3 alone but I want to know overall is it worth the investment.

I'm thinking about buying one of these damn things and I was wondering about the machine. It's been out at least a couple of months and would like to know if it's worth it. I saw in the store today there is a $299 and $399 version. The $399 version comes with the hard drive and a few other things. I want to know the more expensive version with the hard drive is worth it. I would appreciate any help with my decision.

    The Scrimmage.

Quote: 1) How aggressive did we look on D? How far out on the court were we applying pressure? Whenever the ball was brought down and Salim or Lue or whoever tried to use a screen up at the three point line, we did a good job of stepping out to prevent a waltz down the lane. Something we were terrible at last year and I noticed the difference immediately. The rotations were so so but there was a good amount of blocks courtesy of Smoove and Marvin and some others. Also I don't recall anybody taking in down the lane for an easy lay-up, but Speedy didn't play so I can't give a complete grade on that part of the defense. Quote: 2)Did Marvin spend any time in the paint on offense? Sounds like Smith stayed on the perimeter on offense, what about Marv? I don't recall Marvin posting up any. He was really agressive and I can recall at least 3 plays where he drove to the basket. Finished two with And 1's and another by knocking down the free throws. One play he tried to get past Josh. Josh kept up with him and he pulled up in the lane. Josh went up for the block but Marvin pushed Josh with his off hand while in the air and made the shot. It was an offensive foul if you ask me but Marvin got the call and made the free throw. Josh looked pretty pissed and let the refs know. I felt bad for him. While Marvin wasn't posting up he also didn't just settle for jump shots. He even brought the ball down one time and I remember thinking how comfortable he looked.

    The Scrimmage.

Sorry, no one comes to mind to make a comparison. He impressed me the most out of all the big men on the court though.

    The Scrimmage.

Shelden got a few touches and hit a shot or two. Made free throws also. I didn't really notice him. I figured he would stand out because he was supposed to be a physical presence but he did not. On one play Marvin drove to the basket and Shelden was waiting for him. Shelden went down but Marvin bounced off him and finished with an And 1. I guess that's a little credit to both players but it doesn't look like too many people are going to be running through Shelden. I'm not worried or ready to call him a bust yet though. He's a rookie. After the last three years following the Hawks and all of their rookies so closely I expect Shelden to be just like the rest of our young players.
  19. I don't know how many of you went to the scrimmage today but I was in attendance and I learned a few things. First let me say it feels so good to see basketball again. I didn't know I was that thristy for a live game even if it was just a scrimmage. I really have to get closer seats at Phillips from now on. Marvin Williams is alot better and alot more complete than I thought. To put in blanky, he is a beast. His ball handling was amazing. On one play he crossed up Joe Johnson and blew by him. He may be be the second best player on this team. I don't think Josh was trying very hard so I'll leave this statement at may be. Seeing Marvin show his skills that up close and personal gave me goose bumps just thinking about how good he's going to be. Neither Josh or Marvin are PF. Neither can play or should play the PF and probably shouldn't start together despite what I want. Unfortuantely it also looked like Shelden shouldn't be starting at PF so what do we do. Woody says the aim for this team is the playoffs. It was just good to hear the organization say it more than it was any type of revelation. I learned that Andreas(sp)that foreign big man isn't exactly a stiff. Close but not a stiff. He's not a banger either but he was able to score. Looks like Josh Childress will not get off to his traditional slow start. Salim still palms the ball that funny way when he dribbles and will get alot of traveling calls and thus turnovers. Royal looks better. Josh Smith still can't dribble. Called for the ball near the three point line and then got picked clean by Marvin for a breakaway. Chilz is called Chilz by everybody and Smoove is called Smoove by everybody. That's about it. Game was good to watch and thank god for the Hawks dancers.
  20. Quote: One more reason for me to hate on the New York Football Giants. There are no reasons to hate on the giants. They would be America's team if America wasn't full of idiots. F**k the Cowboys by the way. P.S. Tiki Barber is the most versatile running back since Marshall Faulk.
  21. Quote: Andreastiff Glyniadakis lol. I knew you could do it.
  22. Where are you when I need you Johnny Bravo? How can you work stiff into this guys name?
  23. JJ can play 40 minutes like he did in Phoenix as the 4th option but here things are different. Last season he was the first option and a major ballhandler all over the court and using that extra energy in those 40 minutes wore him out towards the end of the season. I'd like to see him playing 38 min a game maximum but closer to 35 minutes. The rest should go to Chilz and Salim.
  24. Basketball: Hawks. Used to be a Knicks and Hawks fans but have given up on the Knicks. Still my second favorite team but a distant second. College ball I'm a Syracuse Orangemen fan Football: The NY Giants. Probably love them more than the Hawks but don't get to see them as much. Don't watch much college football but root for UGA and Tech. Baseball: NY Mets. Don't really watch much baseball but growing up in New Jersey in the mid-eighties as a kid. When Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry hit the scene that was all she wrote. New Jersey is funny in that the Northern parts usually support New York teams and the Southern part usually supports Philadelphia teams. Hockey: Don't watch it much but root for Devils and Thrashers.
